Ugh, him and his family.

"Fine," she grumbled, crossing her arms and tapping her foot. "It's just for three people anyway. Granny, Rosolio, and Minima." She had few friends in the magical realm, and if she could help it, she didn't want them finding about this.

"All right," he told her. "Once the workday's over, I'll go talk to my family about this."

She dropped her broom, and it automatically began to float. She sat sidesaddle, yanking her original version of the contract.

"Guess that means I'm off to grab what I need from home... and break some hearts." A snort.

"I'll see you later then," Scrooge said with a sigh. "Just let me talk to my family first before you try and set up shop at the mansion."

"I heard you about your family already!" Sheesh! Her broom was already making headway to the window.

"Honestly, I'll never get that about you."

"Get what about me?" he asked, confused.

"The whole... family thing." She wiggled her fingers as she said it. "It's like you care about them more than your money." What weird nonsense!

"Wow. What a horrifying idea," he said with bland sarcasm.

She popped open the window, ready to peel out.

"As long as they don't spill the beans, I'll tolerate them."

"Much appreciated," Scrooge grumped. "I'll be home in an hour so give me three hours before you come knocking."

"I'll give you four - so we have extra time to scream into pillows and question why our lives are like this."

See, she can be charitable! Kinda.

"See you later... hubby." With that, she flew out into the blue sky.

Scrooge watched her fly off, grumbling to himself, "You're getting soft, McDuck."

He shuddered and went back to his desk, knowing he likely wasn't going to get much done. Still, he couldn't just go home now. It'd raise too many red flags and the last thing this charade needed were suspicions.

Four hours later...

Magica arrived at McDuck Manor. She sure didn't look like she packed everything - in fact, she had the same purse, same broom, all that was new new was the small bird cage that contained the grumbling Ratface. She tapped the giant iron gates, trying to find the intercom button.

"McDuck, let me in! There better not be any magical blockers here!"

There was a moment of hesitation before the gates swung open. Scrooge had spent the past three hours informing the entire family...and having to convince them that, no, he hadn't gone insane and she hadn't spelled him. He had a terrible migraine from it all.

If it hadn't been for his insistence to go along with the plan, Beakley and Duckworth would've happily "not heard" the intercom.

So far, so good. With a heavy sigh, she headed right for the front doors - with little envious glances at the large mansion, garden, everything she wanted for herself. She tried to swallow down her greed and look at it another way - one day, when she had the Midas Touch, she had to buy things that were bigger and better than this! Yes, this was a lesson plan on how to live her future.

At least she had the decency to knock. "Hush, Ratface. They'll let you fly around... probably."

The door opened with the ghostly Duckworth standing just inside the door, his face calm but vaguely disapproving at the same time.

"Good evening, Miss De Spell. Mr. McDuck has had us prepare a room for you. Dinner will be in half an hour in the dining room. May I take your bag?"

She'd get a better butler when she was richer. Snootier! More British! Deader!

"Take the bag and put it in the middle of the room. It contains absolutely everything in my house." Yes, absolutely everything. Magic had lots of cheats. Once she had the time, she'd enchant it all back out to make the room feel more like home.

"Very good, ma'am. Would you like me to show you to your room now so you can get settled in?" he asked, taking the bag and keeping his face in that vaguely-disapproving neutral expression.

Well, she had a half hour to kill. "Yes, let's head there right away. And ignore any noises you hear in there afterwards, it's all perfectly normal."

Explosions, smoke, animal roaring, all the good stuff.

"I would like to remind you, Miss De Spell, of your contract with Mr. McDuck in this matter. Particularly the clauses regarding leaving anything--spell, object, or otherwise--behind that you can use to steal the Dime or have others steal it for you."

However, he began floating towards her room, following the hallways and staircases to a room at the very end of the hallway leading to the guest rooms.

"I wrote the darn thing, I know what it says!" She snapped - boy, this stay was going to feel like forever. "I do use magic for things other than trying to take the dime, you know."

"Very good, ma'am," the butler told her, unphased by her outburst.

He opened the door to a rather large guestroom that could easily house her cottage with a little extra space to spare. The room was elegantly furnished with a large four-poster bed and cushion-topped bench at the foot of it. There was even a small sitting area opposite one of the windows overlooking the front yard and Duckburg surrounding the Hill, a stately plush chair with ottoman, side table, and floor lamp. The window itself had a window bench seat with storage cabinets to add even more storage to the wardrobe and dresser.

"The nearest bathroom is three doors down to the left," the butler informed her. "To reach the dining room, you have only return to the first floor and turn right, following the main hallway from the foyer."

Grrr- all this wealth on display! Well, fine! Her future mansion would have guest rooms that would house six cottages! Bigger beds, bigger windows, bigger front yards - Ratface began to caw.

"Okay, okay, I hear you!" She huffed, setting the cage down and opening the latch. The bird flew around the room, content to stretch his wings before settling on the windowsill.

"I will see you at dinner then, Miss De Spell."

With that, Duckworth phased through the floor.

Now she could get to work. She approached her bag, rubbed her fingers together, and pulled out one wand from her sleeve.

"Mixi maxi muxi moan,
Let's make this place feel more like home!"

The purse shook, rattled, and then BURST - everything spilled out that had once been in her cottage, perfectly aligning themselves where they would fit best. Tomes, cauldron, potions, all of it made - as she warned - an intense amount of noise as it "redecorated".
