"It can help but it doesn't solve it entirely," Scrooge said, knowing she likely wouldn't believe a word he said.

"Oh, yes, look at you. So miserable. I bet you shed tears as you do your daily coin swim." She crossed her arms, knowing this argument would always end the same way.

Scrooge sighed but didn't answer that. It was the same thing he heard from everybody after all. Why should she say anything different?

...Why was he disappointed that she didn't say anything different?

As she waited Huey and Adelia continue their lesson, something clicked.

"... They're not going to expect me to dance, are they?"

"Probably," Scrooge said. "It's typical for the married couple to have the first dance at the reception, and I doubt your cousin is going to let us off the hook."

"Oh, crow feathers." She ran a hand down her face. "I have two left feet when it comes to dancing."

"It's not that hard, lass," Scrooge said. "If you can do a basic box step, you can waltz."

"... I have no idea what that is."

"Fortunately for you, I do and I've danced both parts."

He held out his hand to her.

... They were really going to this, weren't they?

She sighed, and took his hand. "Don't whine if I step on your feet."

"The worst thing I have to worry about in that scenario are those heels," Scrooge said dryly. "I've had a miner four times my height and at least that many times my weight step on my foot and kept going."

He moved a little away from the door and held out his hands to her.

"I don't have to put my hands on your waist for this, but we do have to touch each other."

"I can handle that. Goodness knows I've groped you more than enough times, trying to get that time." Said without a lick of shame.

Scrooge rolled his eyes as he stepped closer and took her hands and put them on his shoulders. He gripped her upper arms gently in response.

"All right, the box step is the simplest dance possible. Like I said, once you learn this, you've got the basic waltz down. You just mirror what I do."

He focused on her face. "We're going to be off-rhythm to start with but once you've got the hang of it, we'll try and match the beat. Now then. I step forward with my right foot and you step back with your left."

He moved slowly so he didn't end up stepping on her foot in the process.

"Then we bring our feet back together: me stepping forward with my left foot and you stepping back with your right foot."

And, again, a slow demonstration.

Magica said noting, eyes on their feet. She kept silence as it went on, not wanting to slip up and embarrass herself. But, perhaps surprisingly, there was a lot less foot-stepping-on than either of them thought.

"Hm..."

"Okay. Next step is I step to the side with my right foot -- you with your left -- and then we bring our feet back together by moving my left foot and your right over next to the feet that just moved."

Once more, a demonstration.

"Then I step back with my left foot and you step forward with your right. Feet back together. Then we go to the side -- me to my left and you to your right --and feet back together, so we're back at the start.

"And that's it. You can now waltz."

Step, left, right, back, forward, together, step. It was a pattern, and any with worth her cauldron could handle patterns. They were like recipes and spells, in a way. Do things a certain way in a certain order and get a certain result.

"... Hm. I suppose it's not that complicated, if you can do it."

"Okay. So we're going to go around again. Step-step together. Step-step together. Step-step together. Step-step together."

He gave the simple instructions as they repeated the box step three more times.

"I think I've got it... Let me try doing it without looking down."

"That's usually the best thing to do."

Scrooge himself had been looking at her the whole time, after all.

"I imagine you have to, so your old spine doesn't snap in two."

"You haven't seen me tango," Scrooge taunted.

"Before you try it, let me call an ambulance head of time." She mocked.

"Good idea. It'd be good to have them on standby when you passed out."

Now that made her cackle. "You? Make me pass out? While we're at it, let's warn the airplanes that pigs are flying!"
