He hadn't thought he'd been acting strangely. Well, aside from agreeing to this arrangement in the first place.

"Being so worried, giving up so easily! What happened to the conquering hero? Where's the bravado when my schemes have you backed into a corner?" He always dug his way out of all the dangerous situations he found himself in - a little thing like a fake marriage shouldn't concern him to this level.

"This isn't as simple as getting out of one of your schemes. It might be fake, but it's still marriage. We have a contract to make a clean break of it after this is done, but..."

He shook his head. No. He'd shared enough personal details with her over the course of the week. No point in giving her more ammunition.

"Oh I agree completely. I'd rather take the money involved in the ceremony and spend it on a little vacation for just my spouse and me. It seems like the ceremony is more for the family and friends than the couple."

Her eyes almost popped out of her skull. "You'd go on a vacation for THAT?" In all her years, she'd seen that his family had to nearly drag him kicking and screaming to take him on anything resembling a break.

"Is that really so hard to believe?" Scrooge asked, folding his hands behind his back. "Of course, my idea of a vacation is likely different from yours."

"I call a vacation time away from home to relax. No work, all beaches." When she got the Midas Touch, hell, she'd buy a beach!

"That might be nice for a bit, but it gets dull after a while."

Scrooge wasn't very good at staying still anymore. He needed to be doing something.

"From what I hear, your partner in your honeymoon vacation is supposed to prevent the dullness." A small snort.

"Aye," Scrooge said with a nod. "But it's a waste of money if all you're seeing is the inside of your hotel suite."

Magica gave him a look. Well, she never asked the question "have you ever gotten laid", and yet he'd answered it.

"Maybe it's for the best neither of us ever got married to anyone."

Scrooge didn't respond to that part, instead looking at irritation at the witch.

"What was that look for?"

"Nothing... you just explained one or two things." A smaller snort.

"Like what?" Scrooge asked, growing more irritated.

"Like if you ever did find a woman, I'd feel plenty sorry for her and that 'magical night'!" She cackled, amused.

Scrooge actually smirked at her. "You think I've never lied with a woman before? Really?"

"Oh please." She scoffed. "Any woman who'd want you is only after your money, and you're not stupid enough to fall for a golddigger. You're so devoted to your riches, you probably wouldn't bat an eyelash at a pretty young thing ready and willing."

That stung, but it wasn't entirely untrue.

"I wasn't always wealthy," he reminded her, allowing her to draw a few conclusions.

"No, but you've always been pigheaded and stubborn." And Magica was never wrong, of course!
