Magica flinched, startled by that sudden affection and nickname again. Her cheeks flushed, and she looked away. "Can't you just find an even balance?"

"Old habits have a tendency to die hard," he told her. "I've been a bachelor my whole life. Can't expect me to have the right balance right away, can you?"

And if anything, his action had earned a sniffling coo from Granny De Spell. If they were gonna go through with this, they had to show some affection.

Magica began to wonder if a good noose would have been the better option. She huffed quietly, but squeezed his hand while resisting the urge to roll her eyes.

He gave her hand a squeeze before letting it go. Ugh. He was going to take the longest bath ever after this mess was finished.

Finally, dinner ended and everyone left the dining room. Scrooge took a moment to sigh with relief, rubbing the space between his eyes.

"Another day down," she reminded him as she got up, ready to retreat to her room. "We're almost there."

"Aye." He stretched one arm above his head, grimacing at the pop in his back. "Just a little farther now."

"It'll be over before you know it." She turned to go. "Get a dress fitting, a ring fitting, one day of a stupid ceremony, and done."

He nodded his head. "When you put it like that, it doesn't sound like much."

"Things do usually work out when people listen to me." She mused, heading to her room.

He rolled his eyes but chose not to comment, simply following her out of the dining room before heading towards his own room.

At least the week was almost over.

The days passed, some slower, some faster, but one day before the wedding two big events happened.

The first, unknown to Magica, Scrooge's special dress for her had arrived. The second...

"Uh, Uncle Scrooge?" Huey said aloud early that morning, staring out the window to the yard. "I think every single animal in the woods is in front of the mansion. Should I assume this is bad?"

"I'm...actually not sure..."

Scrooge peeked out of the window to see the animals all gathered up as nice as one could hope for. It was almost idyllic.

"I'll take a closer look."

With that, he headed outside, closing the front door behind him.

The moment he did, the animals began to part, and someone was very clearly singing.

"Aaaah~! Ooooh McDuck familyyyy, how happy I beee, in your companyyy~!"

Behind all the animals was - an identical Magica. Save for the blonde hair and flowing blue dress, she could have easily been her twin. Of course, all the animals fawning over, including a bluebird on her finger and a sparkly starry wand in her hand, might have also clued one in that this wasn't Magica.

Scrooge stared for a long moment.

"...I didn't think there was that much nutmeg in my tea this morning..."

The Not Magica giggled, gently shooing the bluebird away. "And a good morning to you, Sir Scrooge McDuck! I am Adelia De Spell, and let me say it is a pleasure and honor to finally meet the man who has captured the fair heart of my dear, dear cousin!"

She suddenly grabbed his hands, eyes sparkling with adoration. "You've saved her from her lonely, pathetic life of desperation! To think, a beautiful love story was waiting within her mad obsession!"

Well, there was a positive in regards to this: Adelia had already convinced herself that he and Magica were madly in love.

"It was a surprise to us, too," he said with wry honesty, bowing over her hand.

"I know I wasn't supposed to arrive until the day of the wedding," she admitted, "But the excitement was just too overwhelming! I had to see this wonderful passion before my very eyes!" She pulled back to daintily sigh, a hand to her heart.

"There must be some way to thank you for taking Magica into your arms... Oh, what if I gave you and yours a blessing?" The one thing Magica had warned him not to let her do?

"Oh, that's not necessary at all," he assured her. "I've already been blessed with so much. I wouldn't want to take away from someone more deserving."

Adelia quietly gasped in awe. "Oh... all those rumors about you being a cheap old stingy tightwad are so untrue! Yours is truly a charitable heart - how fortunate for dear Magica to be loved by someone so wondrous! I must congratulate her at once!"

With that, she began merrily skipping to the front door, letting herself in with another song.

"Magicaaaa~ It is Adeliaaaa~ La la laaaaaaaaaaaa~!"

Oh they were true, but Scrooge knew that magic always had some sort of strings attached. Every magical boon came at a cost, and he didn't like paying them.

He watched her skip off, face unhappy. Then he pulled out his pocket watch.

Damn. Too early for a drink.

Magica had just come down the stairs, rubbing her temples. "Ugh, I just got this migraine out of nowhere..."

"MAGICAAAAAA~!"

"... Ah. That's why." She tried to retreat back up, but the fairy had practically tackled her down, snuggling her in close. "GET OFF!"

"My dear, sweet, beautiful cousin! Congratulations on your impending nuptials! Yours is a love story that will be celebrated throughout the ages!"

The children had gathered together, mostly to gawk at the spectacle. "So... does anyone else see how much they look alike...?" Webby whispered.

Scrooge walked up beside Webby. "Aye, I noticed."

He decided that mentioning that brief moment he'd wondered if he'd had too much nutmeg in his tea would be a bad idea...if not grounds for Beakley literally kicking his tail feathers in their next sparring match.

Magica kept trying to pry off her cousin. "The wedding isn't until tomorrow, you idiot!"

"How could I not help you out on your most beloved day? Especially with your new family?" That's when Adelia's eyes fell on the children, and she GAAAASPED, hands on her cheeks. "Oh, sweet little angels!"

"Here we go," Minima groaned.

"Look at you precious darlings!" Adelia loomed over the kids, eyes sparkling. "You tender widdle orphans, taken in by your loving uncle!"

Huey raised a hand. "Um, technically we're not orphans-"

"Let me bestow upon you the first gift from your dear Auntie Adelia!" Without anymore warning, she waved her wand - POOF - and all the boys and girls were suddenly wearing fancy poofy dresses and tight princely outfits... in other words, the kind of stuff these kids would never willingly wear.

"STOP!" Scrooge shouted sharply, startling even himself. He coughed and cleared his throat. "Miss Adelia, please restrain yourself. The thought's appreciated, but your magic's better used for people who need it."

The kids were all frantically trying to tear off their new outfits, not that Adela seemed to notice. "Oh, but I simply must help out wherever I can! It's in my nature as a fairy, you see!" With a 'tee-hee-hee', she booped Scrooge on the beak with her wand. "Never you fear, I shall make this wedding into a fairy tale dream come true!"

Magica ran a hand down her face. Convincing Adela they were in love was never the problem. Surviving her was. "Adelia... why don't you go... say hi to Granny?"

"Of course! Dearest grandmother, she must be so overwhelmed!" She began to skip away, leaving flowers behind with every step.
