That would be handy, if she ever felt like dressing up... which she rarely did. Still... she supposed... it wouldn't be the worst thing to have an extra dress lying around.

"It'll need to be hung up to prevent wrinkling, but get it a little damp and hanging it up to dry will fix any wrinkles well enough."

"Fine, fine, fine." She was eager to get out of the dress - and to stop any fires her family was causing. (It was worrisome that this could be metaphorical and literal.)

"Anything else?"

"You can wash it in the gentle cycle but it's best to let it hang up to dry to prevent shrinkage," the tailor said. "You don't need special detergent. The color might run a little the first few cleanings, so you might want to wash it by itself or at least only with other red items."

Magica glanced over to this woman, eyebrow raised. "Did anyone tell you I'm a witch?" For her people, simply changing and cleaning clothes just required a snap of her fingers.

"Yes, but...I don't really know that much about magic," she admitted, twiddling her thumbs.

"Then trust me, we don't really use things like laundry machines or dryers." She snapped her fingers - she became a redhead, then a blonde, then back to black. "Disguises are our easiest magic, so a little thing like cleaning clothes is nothing."

The tailor marveled. "Oh, wow! You could literally wear any color you wanted!"

"Exactly. So I don't know why he went to the trouble of all these special orders..." Puzzling, really. "He should know better than anyone."

The tailor shrugged. "I couldn't tell you. Honestly, he barely calls on me that often except for when he needs his suit or coat repaired. He doesn't order new clothes that often. But he was very insistent that your dress had to be red."

Puzzling, puzzling, puzzling. "... How much did all this cost?"

"About seventy-five dollars," the tailor said.

That would put a dent in her pocket - but not one she couldn't recover from. What had she been expecting? Hundreds?

"... Finish the job and box it up."

Magica. Did you forget who bought the dress to begin with?

"Yes, ma'am."

The alterations didn't take much longer, fortunately. And once she was through, the tailor left to get back to her shop.

Once back in her normal dress, Magica sighed as she went down the stairs... and then cringed. Why was she hearing ballroom music?

"And one, two, three!" She could hear Adelia instructing.

The good news was that it wasn't Scrooge practicing his dancing. Unfortunately, poor Huey was being guided around the floor by his new "aunt".

Scrooge himself was standing outside the door leading to the TV room where the lesson was being held. He looked at Magica, safe in the knowledge that no one was paying them any mind.

"Your family is exhausting," he told her.

"Also, the sky is blue." She snarked, making sure to stay out of Adelia's line of sight. "Why do you think I agreed to that insane contract? I thought it'd keep them away... after throwing them in a portal and locking it with a spell didn't."

Repeatedly.

"Once I get the Midas Touch, I'll have enough money to keep them distracted and away for good."

"Putting a lot of faith in the Midas Touch, aren't you?" Scrooge snarked back. "Money isn't the solution you think it is."

"My problem is being unhappy. Money can solve that." She snapped her fingers.

"It can help but it doesn't solve it entirely," Scrooge said, knowing she likely wouldn't believe a word he said.

"Oh, yes, look at you. So miserable. I bet you shed tears as you do your daily coin swim." She crossed her arms, knowing this argument would always end the same way.

Scrooge sighed but didn't answer that. It was the same thing he heard from everybody after all. Why should she say anything different?

...Why was he disappointed that she didn't say anything different?

As she waited Huey and Adelia continue their lesson, something clicked.

"... They're not going to expect me to dance, are they?"

"Probably," Scrooge said. "It's typical for the married couple to have the first dance at the reception, and I doubt your cousin is going to let us off the hook."

"Oh, crow feathers." She ran a hand down her face. "I have two left feet when it comes to dancing."
