The blush was actually somewhat interesting. Did she actually feel complimented by what he'd said?

"I know you wouldn't sink that low," she crossed her arms, turning away. "But you're keeping it for yourself, so you can laugh at me whenever you want!"

He pulled out the photo, looking at it again. He mused for a few moments and decided to see how she'd react when he told her:

"I wasn't lying downstairs."

Her fingers twitched, it was clear she was moments away from trying to snatch it from him.

"Don't be dumb, I know you were just trying to make our... 'thing' look real in front of Granny."

He tucked the photo away again, making a mental note to hide it and lock his bedroom door before she got any ideas.

Rather than confirming or denying her words, he held out his hand. "So may I have my potion now?"

Hmph. Of course he'd just been mocking her. She wasn't pretty, and she knew it.

She shoved the bottle into his hands. "Take three mouthfuls before going to bed tonight, and it should last you seven exact days."

"Thank you," he told her.

As he turned to leave, he paused. "By the way, we do need to work out the dress situation before your family makes an issue of it. Might be faster and more discrete to send off your measurements and have a dress adjusted to fit."

"Clothes mean nothing to a witch," she countered. "I can poof up a dress with a snap of my fingers." Granted, it would just be whatever her mind imagined as a 'wedding dress', so it'd lack a lot of creativity and flair.

"Will your family be able to tell?" he asked dryly, knowing the likely answer.

She grimaced - they absolutely would. "... Leaving it to Granny would put me in the most hideous thing imaginable..."

"I know someone who works quick and will make something that should please her," Scrooge told her.

"And how much is that going to cost me?" She grumbled, crossing her arms.

"It's part of our deal, Magica," Scrooge said. "I'm getting a week of watching you squirm."

"Eat a bug, McDuck." She growled, tapping her fingers on her arm.

"I do keep a dish of chocolate covered ants on my desk," Scrooge said with a smirk.

"... Please tell me you're kidding." Even at her lowest, she'd never gone that far when she was hungry!

"I'm not. And I never tell the people who visit my office what they are," Scrooge said with a wicked smirk.

If those people were going to breach his sanctum sanctorum, they had to pay by amusing him.

Magica blanched - she could easily imagine herself grabbing a handful of his 'snacks' and stuffing them in her mouth as an act of petty revenge if she had yet another failure at grabbing the dime.

"When I get rich, I'm never getting that eccentric!"

Scrooge snickered. A shame that he'd told her about the ants. Oh well.

"So should I give you the tailor's contact information so you give her your measurements or do you want me to pass them along?"

"I'll do it." She growled. "You've made it clear you can't be trusted." He might make it too big or too small just to humiliate her even more.

"Fine, fine."

He glanced about for a spare scrap of paper before writing down the number.

"I'll leave you to it. See you tomorrow for dinner."

"Hmph. See you then." It was as close to a goodnight as either of them was going to get.

Scrooge smiled as he left the room but then smirked as he started back towards his bedroom. He locked the door behind himself as he pulled a tablet out of the bedside table.

Most people assumed that because he was so old that it took him time to adjust to new technology. They weren't entirely incorrect but he was more well-versed than most people gave him credit for. Using the onscreen keyboard, he typed out an email to the tailor whose contact info he'd given to Magica, informing her that there was going to be a set of measurements coming in for a dress.

As for what he wanted that dress to be, he snapped a picture of the photo to attach to the email.

The following day, Magica quickly went to work sending out her measurements for her wedding dress - she made it clear she didn't care how it looked, as long as it fit her and it was cheap. She had a horrifying yet very likely idea that Scrooge might charge her for it, as well as all the food and board she and her insane family had taken up. This was going to kill her wallet, she was sure of it.

How much worse could things get?

She got her answer the next time they met at dinner - because Granny proudly announced, "I insisted on cooking everything!"

Scrooge had never seen Beakley look so traumatized. Bad enough there were invaders in her house, but there was a hostile takeover of her kitchen.

'I am going to have to pay her a considerable bonus for all this trouble,' he thought unhappily. He glanced at a very annoyed Duckworth (not that most people could tell). 'And I'll have to figure out something for Duckworth.'

"Granny, that wasn't necessary," Scrooge told her. "You're guests in this house."
