 One of the disadvantages of immortal youth was that it sometimes limited her options. If she wanted something fresh and young, she needed to be where the fresh and young people where, and gods, their music was awful. What happened to the good old days of violins and organs?

So imagine her surprise as she viewed the buffet to find one snack that looked older than most. She raised an eyebrow - he didn't seem to be in any midlife crisis. The exact opposite, in fact - like if he had any real choice, he wouldn't be here. Well... she could fix that for him.

She licked her lips, and then made her way across the room. A gorgeous beauty like her, it was like parting the ocean waves with a hand. She was by his side within seconds, sizing him up.

Nice, very nice. He even smelled delicious.

"Congratulations, you're the most miserable person here, and I think that includes the janitor."

Scrooge slept for hours but woke up before the sun was even thinking about rising. His head ached, but seeing Magica asleep silenced any complaints he might have made.

At least this time he'd have more time with her.

He re-positioned himself so that he laid down beside her, hopefully allowing her to get more comfortable.

Perhaps she sensed the weight shift in the bed, or maybe she was seeking warmth - either way, she began to curl up against him, reaching out to hold whatever she could grab.

He wrapped his arm around her, cuddling her close. She was cold, but that was to be expected: She was undead after all.

He held her close, allowing her to feel his heartbeat and his warmth. He was here and he was alive thanks to her.

Slowly, her eyes began to open. She smiled up at him, not moving away.

"Good morning, darling."

[richestduck]

"Good morning, lassie," he told her, remaining where he laid as well. "Sleep well?"

[blackmagicduck]

"Absolutely." She gave him a quick kiss. "I trust you did the same?"

[richestduck]

He nodded his head. "Even with the hangover, I always sleep better with you than at home."

[blackmagicduck]

"Are you feeling sick now?" She pet his cheek, a little concerned.

[richestduck]

"Just a headache and a sour stomach. They'll pass," he assured her. "They always do."

[blackmagicduck]

"You've passed worst times than others." She reminded him, recalling how sometimes he needed to use the toilet right away to upchuck. Perhaps he was adjusting to the amount he was taking. Was that good or bad?

[richestduck]

He nodded his head, closing his eyes for a moment. "I think I'm doing better because I'm actually eating more when I drink. Before I knew what you were, I don't think I ate half as much as I do now...or I'm building up a tolerance. Either's fine at this point."

[blackmagicduck]

"Might be." She nodded in agreement, then leaned for a kiss, teasing him. "Nor did you immediately plow into me. Maybe you're building a tolerance for me too."

[richestduck]

"Not for lack of wanting to," Scrooge told her. "But you holding me like that and stroking my head cooled me down." He paused, remembering a thought. "Actually I never really anticipated that being bitten by a vampire could be so...erotic. I'm not one for anything particularly exotic in bed, but there's just this...rush...when you bite me."

She chuckled, enjoying the bit of fluster in his voice. "Truth be told, that was new for me too. Usually most of my victims aren't as... awake as you were."

[richestduck]

"I wonder if that's supposed to keep a willing donor happy," he mused aloud. "You get fed and it makes the experience pleasant enough so the donor will keep allowing you to bite them."

[blackmagicduck]

"If that was the case, it didn't work on me." Magica frowned. Her experience with the one who turned her had only been nothing short of painful and horrifying.

[richestduck]

Scrooge gave a shrug. "Ah well. It isn't hurting me or you, so the reason doesn't really matter."

[blackmagicduck]

She was more than happy to dismiss her former experience, and came in for a snuggle. "Certainly true. Nothing matters but here and you."

[richestduck]

It was rather frightening how devoted she was to him. For now at least. (It wouldn't last...but oh how he wanted it to.)

Still, he snuggled her, ruffling her hair with his beak.

She sighed, content to stay here all of her days. Cruel as it was, she was grateful that no one had snatched him up for themselves. They'd never give him the happiness she could, and in turn, what man could give her this?

She began to hum her dark melody.

Scrooge relaxed as he listened, almost feeling the need to drift back to sleep. The sun hadn't risen yet, and he had nowhere to be today. He could rest as long as he liked, safe in her arms.

She couldn't tell how much time had passed, since her world had no need for clocks or windows. She pet him as she sang, no lyrics needed, no enchantment needed. Just their eternal blissful paradise.

He drifted in and out of a half-doze, enjoying the feel of her being with him and the sound of her voice. The only indicators of how much time had passed were the easing of the headache and the quieting of his stomach.

He was almost feeling a...more contented...form of normal when his cell phone started ringing.

"...No, no, no..." he groaned, getting up to go for the phone.

She jerked, startled by that sudden noise. "What the..." Her fingers tightened, and she let out a small hiss.

"What is it?"

[richestduck]

"I'm not sure, but nothing good." He snapped open the phone and held it to his ear. "McDuck."

The voice on the other end was speaking in German, and it took him a moment to mentally switch. He listened carefully, hearing the agitation and hating life in general.
