 One of the disadvantages of immortal youth was that it sometimes limited her options. If she wanted something fresh and young, she needed to be where the fresh and young people where, and gods, their music was awful. What happened to the good old days of violins and organs?

So imagine her surprise as she viewed the buffet to find one snack that looked older than most. She raised an eyebrow - he didn't seem to be in any midlife crisis. The exact opposite, in fact - like if he had any real choice, he wouldn't be here. Well... she could fix that for him.

She licked her lips, and then made her way across the room. A gorgeous beauty like her, it was like parting the ocean waves with a hand. She was by his side within seconds, sizing him up.

Nice, very nice. He even smelled delicious.

"Congratulations, you're the most miserable person here, and I think that includes the janitor."

"You inspire me," he told her honestly, nuzzling her.

She laughed a little, petting his head. "Would that I came to you sooner, I could have inspired you to take care of yourself before you needed it!"

"I don't think I would've listened at all that first year," Scrooge admitted.

He'd been busy trying to build the fleet of rockets to find Della. To be honest, most of that first year was a blur.

"Sometimes I like a good challenge." She played with his whiskers. "But... I like what we have now, too."

He leaned into her touch. "I like what we have now, too."

It was much better than the crushing loneliness. No matter how long this lasted.

She kissed him, long and deep. "I wouldn't change it for anything."

"Mmm."

The ringing of the bell for the door caused Scrooge to sigh and get up.

"That'll be my dinner."

She nodded, and slid off the bed to make herself scarce. "Go ahead."

[richestduck]

Scrooge went to get his food, thanking the server and giving the lad a tip for his trouble. It wasn't a steak tonight but it was a nice bit of chicken with all the trimmings.

Definitely better than a sandwich.

Magica waited until the door was closed before popping out again. "I think we should be fine... worst case scenario, they think you have a call girl."

"I hope not. Last thing I want is them digging around for more information on you and ruining your privacy."

[lifesa_witch]

She gave a little laugh. "Good luck to them! I've made sure that as far as records are concerned, I don't exist."

[richestduck]

"Now that I have no doubt."

She likely had plenty of practice as it.

"Of course, the lack of evidence in of itself can be evidence of something... but I doubt 'vampire' will be the first idea that pops into anyone's heads."

"They'd probably assume you were my kept mistress and that I was the one responsible for making sure you didn't leave any records anywhere."

[lifesa_witch]

Magica giggled, sliding her arms around his neck. "'Kept mistress'. I almost like the sound of that."

[richestduck]

"Only almost?" he asked as he cut some of the chicken.

[lifesa_witch]

She kissed his cheek. "Kept sounds temporary. You're mine forever."

Scrooge hummed his agreement before starting to take mechanical bite after mechanical bite. He would've offered her some, but...well...she didn't eat food.

Magica let him go, only so he could eat his meal in piece, and sat down opposite him. "Another early morning?"

[richestduck]

He nodded. "Though as it stands tomorrow should be the last day. They can only drag this out for so long before they run out of things to go over with a fine-tooth comb. There's been no evidence that the company is directly involved and complacent in the work the former head did--not that there was a connection in the first place--for them to legally continue their search."

Magica nodded along, trying to understand as best she could. "It sounds like good news, at the very least."

[richestduck]

"Aye. And me being there to 'assist' has also made it more difficult for them to try and slip in evidence. Because they've tried."

He sighed.

"After this, I'd been planning to fly back to you in Duckburg."

[lifesa_witch]

She tapped her cheek, thinking about it. "But now I'll have to head back on my own. It'll be exhausting, but I can manage."

"If I delay my flight back, I could charter a private jet to take us back," Scrooge offered.

It wasn't right that she would have to make do somehow.
