Pass the test, t-taste the flesh (scrooge x magica)

 One of the disadvantages of immortal youth was that it sometimes limited her options. If she wanted something fresh and young, she needed to be where the fresh and young people where, and gods, their music was awful. What happened to the good old days of violins and organs?

So imagine her surprise as she viewed the buffet to find one snack that looked older than most. She raised an eyebrow - he didn't seem to be in any midlife crisis. The exact opposite, in fact - like if he had any real choice, he wouldn't be here. Well... she could fix that for him.

She licked her lips, and then made her way across the room. A gorgeous beauty like her, it was like parting the ocean waves with a hand. She was by his side within seconds, sizing him up.

Nice, very nice. He even smelled delicious.

"Congratulations, you're the most miserable person here, and I think that includes the janitor."

He sighed. "Do what you want." He gave her a quick peck on the cheek. "In the meantime, I'd better be off."

In turn, she kissed his cheek. "Take care of yourself, darling."

"You do the same," he told her with a soft smile.

Though getting up and leaving took herculean effort. He didn't want to go, certainly not as far away as Germany.

She watched him go, until he was nothing more than a spec over the horizon. Getting to Germany with her limitations definitely wouldn't be easy - but she wasn't one to give up. What else would she do with all her time otherwise? Merely waiting for him would be dull and unfulfilling.

On Scrooge's third day on Germany, when he was heading to his room, the man at the front desk - whose eyes seemed a bit distant and blurry - casually called over. "Good evening, Mr. McDuck. Your wife is waiting for you in your room."

It was only three days in and he was already mentally, emotionally, and physically exhausted with who knew how much longer to go. He was so tired that the statement didn't register at first.

"Thank you."

However, as he got into the elevator, it started tickling his brain. His wife? He didn't have a wife. Who was waiting for him in the suite?

Who else?

When she heard the door click open, Magica flopped onto his bed, wanting to enjoy the look on his face when he saw her. "How was your day, darling?"

If an agent from FOWL had been waiting for him, he would've been less surprised than the sight of Magica. Well, that explained why the front desk hadn't made a fuss and called all the papers.

"Long," he forced out after a moment of gawking. "Very, very long."

She rolled over on the bed, kicking her legs a bit. Yes, she was enjoying that look. "My poor darling. Come here." She offered her arms out to him.

He immediately went to her, leaning into her embrace and placing his chin on her shoulder.

"Thank you for coming," he told her softly.

She held him close, stroking the back of his head. The trip, for her part, had been exhausting but for this? It was worth it.

"Now you don't have to wait days and days." She murmured. "I'll be here every time you come back."

"Mmm," Scrooge murmured, pleased. Still..."My wife?"

[lifesa_witch]

She stuck out her tongue playfully. "I wanted to give you a little shock."

[richestduck]

"It worked," Scrooge chuckled. "Though it should say something that it didn't register until I got in the elevator."

[lifesa_witch]

"You've been working too hard." She ran her fingers through his head feathers. "Now you can just relax."

[richestduck]

He hummed appreciatively as he melted in her arms. He hadn't had dinner yet, but he wasn't feeling very hungry.

She was content to hold and pet him, pleased he hadn't found this too creepy or too close. She began to do her own hum, the old mystic melody that always calmed him.

It worked like a charm as his tense muscles relaxed. "When did you land?"

[lifesa_witch]

"A few hours ago," she explained. "And not one person who saw me will remember I'm here, you have my word."

[richestduck]

Scrooge nuzzled her. "Depending on how long this all takes, I might just charter a private jet home."

[lifesa_witch]

"Whatever it takes for you to be comfortable, darling." She cupped his cheeks, making him look at her. "I won't let you hurt yourself anymore."

As much as people would talk, it was tempting to just go full recluse, only making appearances when absolutely necessary. Honestly, he wanted the outside world to just go away.

Magica could stay in his rapidly-shrinking world.

He offered her a tired, awkward smile as he looked at her. "I'm fine, lass."

"You're not." She kissed him once. "But that's all right. What matters is that I'm here now."

[richestduck]

"Aye." He nuzzled her again.

[lifesa_witch]

She put a few more kisses across his face before letting him rest in his arms. There didn't need to be anything else in the world, save for this quiet embrace.

He might not feel very hungry but his stomach had other ideas, rumbling a quiet complaint. It had been ages since breakfast and he'd been too busy for lunch.
