Pass the test, t-taste the flesh (scrooge x magica)

 One of the disadvantages of immortal youth was that it sometimes limited her options. If she wanted something fresh and young, she needed to be where the fresh and young people where, and gods, their music was awful. What happened to the good old days of violins and organs?

So imagine her surprise as she viewed the buffet to find one snack that looked older than most. She raised an eyebrow - he didn't seem to be in any midlife crisis. The exact opposite, in fact - like if he had any real choice, he wouldn't be here. Well... she could fix that for him.

She licked her lips, and then made her way across the room. A gorgeous beauty like her, it was like parting the ocean waves with a hand. She was by his side within seconds, sizing him up.

Nice, very nice. He even smelled delicious.

"Congratulations, you're the most miserable person here, and I think that includes the janitor."

She leaned up to face him. "What are you afraid of?"

"Of being completely alone."

[blackmagicduck]

"Do you trust me?" She cupped his cheeks.

[richestduck]

"As much as I can," Scrooge murmured. "I'm sorry. I'm trying but..."

But he was afraid. There was just so much fear...

"I know." A kiss. "I know." Another kiss. "I can offer all the pretty promises I want, but they're just words. Only time will prove my sincerity."

[richestduck]

He nodded his head. "I want to believe. I want to believe with everything I have."

But he couldn't. His family had broken his faith.

She laid her head on his shoulder. "Just relax, my darling. Just have faith in this night."

[richestduck]

He closed his eyes and leaned into her cold body. Somehow it felt warm because at least she was there.

She began to hum again, even if it was louder than the movie. He might need that more than anything else.

He did. The movie wasn't important. She was. Being able to lie in her arms and listen to her humming was so calming.

After several long minutes, he finally started sipping at the wine and nibbling on the food.

She stroked his chest, continuing to sing - an old Italian song about the moon and the stars, about endless nights making wishes. She was sure there was an English translation, but she also felt doing that would take away some of its power and beauty.

As someone fluent in Italian, he was glad to hear it in the original language. Sometimes translations had a bad habit of screwing up a beautiful song.

He fully relaxed, the movie forgotten.

"Thank you."

She kissed right under his beak. "Singing for my favorite audience is always a delight."

[richestduck]

"Hearing you sing is always a delight," he countered. "I suppose it's mutually-beneficial that way."

[blackmagicduck]

A light kiss. "You should start asking song requests sometime."

[richestduck]

"You have a song list I can browse through?" he lightly teased.

[blackmagicduck]

"I didn't know I needed to make you a list." Another flick to his beak. "You don't have any favorites?"

[richestduck]

"Aye, but I'm not sure if you'd know them."

[blackmagicduck]

"If not, I can always learn them while you're gone. You can have your own personal concert when I return."

[richestduck]

He paused, trying to rifle through all the songs he's heard over the years.

"After the Ball" came to mind, but he dismissed it. He didn't need reminders of Goldie. He needed something that was purely Magica...

She didn't rush him, and resumed snuggling, placing her head on his chest. Ah, the beautiful rhythm of a heart-beat. Sometimes she forgot what they sounded like, given that her own stopped years ago.

"Loch Lomond," Scrooge finally settled on. He then gave a rueful chuckle. "Stereotypical but I've heard it butchered so many times, it'd be nice to hear it properly sung.

[blackmagicduck]

"Loch Lomond," she repeated to memorize it. "I'll make it worthy of your love." For the song, she meant - love in a romantic sense was something foreign, she wouldn't even know if she felt it.

He took her hand and kissed the back of it. "You're more than worthy of it."

His love would likely be a paltry prize, to be honest.
