 One of the disadvantages of immortal youth was that it sometimes limited her options. If she wanted something fresh and young, she needed to be where the fresh and young people where, and gods, their music was awful. What happened to the good old days of violins and organs?

So imagine her surprise as she viewed the buffet to find one snack that looked older than most. She raised an eyebrow - he didn't seem to be in any midlife crisis. The exact opposite, in fact - like if he had any real choice, he wouldn't be here. Well... she could fix that for him.

She licked her lips, and then made her way across the room. A gorgeous beauty like her, it was like parting the ocean waves with a hand. She was by his side within seconds, sizing him up.

Nice, very nice. He even smelled delicious.

"Congratulations, you're the most miserable person here, and I think that includes the janitor."

Magica merely smiled. "My enchanment does wonders. All I need to do is sweet-talk and get them to look in my eyes, and they'll forget to ask anything."

"Handy," Scrooge told her.

[lifesa_witch]

"Doing it too much does wear me out," she admitted. "But security tends to think a gorgeous woman needs to be protected instead of being a threat."

"I wouldn't want you to wear yourself out," he said honestly. "Maybe I can bring you back a souvenir."

[lifesa_witch]

"Hush." She leaned over him. "I'm going to try it."

[richestduck]

"Try to get on the plane?" he asked, confused.

[lifesa_witch]

"Exactly." She flicked his beak playfully. "If not yours, then whatever is available."

[richestduck]

"Lass, even if you get there, you'll get horribly bored if you're thinking about spending time with me," he told her. "I'm going to be in meetings all day."

[lifesa_witch]

She raised an eyebrow. "I get bored waiting for you for two weeks. I think I'll manage a few hours."

[richestduck]

He blinked at her. "What all...do you do between visits?"

[lifesa_witch]

"I stock up," she gestured around them. "I try to find new books, and things for us to watch." She left out the part about researching him, not wanting to scare him off.

[richestduck]

Scrooge hugged her tightly, hiding his face from her.

"I'd like you to do something you like to do that doesn't have to do with me while I'm gone," he told her.

He was clinging to her but...he didn't want her stuck in his rut.

"Does it have to be right now?" She touched his cheek, trying to make him look at her. "Do you not want me there?"

"I do want you there," he told her softly. "But I don't want...I couldn't forgive myself if I dragged you down with me."

[lifesa_witch]

"I'm a big girl." She lightly tapped his beak. "I can take care of myself. I want to be with you."

[richestduck]

"I know. I just want you to be happy."

Even if it wasn't with him.

[lifesa_witch]

"And I'm happiest with you." A light kiss. "Aren't you happiest with me?"

[richestduck]

He nodded. She did honestly make him...very content. (Would nodding his agreement jinx her even if he didn't think the word "happy"?)

He nuzzled her neck feathers.

[lifesa_witch]

"There. So don't worry about a thing. I'll find a way to you, always." She held him close to her.

[richestduck]

He held onto her, breathing in her scent. He really could just fall asleep again right here, safe in her arms. He closed his eyes, just drinking in the contact.

She stroked his head, content in this place. "Always..."

[richestduck]

"It's nice to hear you say that," he admitted.

[lifesa_witch]

"I mean every word. Even if you don't believe me."

[richestduck]

"I'm trying to get better about that," he told her.

[lifesa_witch]

"I can live without you trusting me. What matters is that I trust you."
