 One of the disadvantages of immortal youth was that it sometimes limited her options. If she wanted something fresh and young, she needed to be where the fresh and young people where, and gods, their music was awful. What happened to the good old days of violins and organs?

So imagine her surprise as she viewed the buffet to find one snack that looked older than most. She raised an eyebrow - he didn't seem to be in any midlife crisis. The exact opposite, in fact - like if he had any real choice, he wouldn't be here. Well... she could fix that for him.

She licked her lips, and then made her way across the room. A gorgeous beauty like her, it was like parting the ocean waves with a hand. She was by his side within seconds, sizing him up.

Nice, very nice. He even smelled delicious.

"Congratulations, you're the most miserable person here, and I think that includes the janitor."

"It's nice to hear you say that," he admitted.

"I mean every word. Even if you don't believe me."

[richestduck]

"I'm trying to get better about that," he told her.

[lifesa_witch]

"I can live without you trusting me. What matters is that I trust you."

[richestduck]

"It's not fair to you though."

[lifesa_witch]

"I've learned to live an unfair life." She said with a bit of a smirk. "Comes with being the living dead."

[richestduck]

"Maybe so but if this is about mutual pleasure, I should be doing all I can to make you feel good as well."

[lifesa_witch]

"And there's the rub," She nuzzled his cheek. "No matter how good I say you make me feel, you won't believe me, and we're back at square one."

[richestduck]

Scrooge sighed. "I'll work on it."

And by "it" he meant "accepting that he did make her feel good".

"Until then... why don't we start small?" She leaned up a bit, and kissed her bracelet. "You trust people enjoying gifts, don't you?"

[richestduck]

He nodded his head. "Aye."

He understood that well enough at least.

[lifesa_witch]

"Then trust that I will never take it off. Not for the world." She settled back on top of him.

[richestduck]

He hugged her close to him, smiling softly. "Aye. I can trust that."

[lifesa_witch]

"Then let it be a symbol of our relationship." She smiled right back.

[richestduck]

"I'll agree to that," he told her, nuzzling her hair.

[lifesa_witch]

They spent most of the hours like that, content to merely cuddle and enjoy their warmth - or, well, his warmth, since she had none to give. Time flew without their permission, and they were reluctant to look at anything that would show how much privacy they had left.

But all good things must come to an end, and she tightened her grip on him when she knew what was to come.

He didn't want to say it, but...

"I really do have to be going," he sighed. "I've got a very long flight tomorrow, after all, and I need to make sure I'm prepared."

With a long sigh of her own, she began to climb off. "As do I, if I'm to make this little trip of mine work."

"If you can't, don't worry too much," he told her softly.

[lifesa_witch]

"You could try thinking positively for once." She flicked his beak.

[richestduck]

"I'm being practical," he told her.

He had faith in her but he didn't want to be disappointed. If you expected nothing, getting something always was a positive.

[lifesa_witch]

"It means you still don't have faith in me... which makes me all the more determined to prove you wrong." She smirked.

[richestduck]

He sighed. "Do what you want." He gave her a quick peck on the cheek. "In the meantime, I'd better be off."

[lifesa_witch]

In turn, she kissed his cheek. "Take care of yourself, darling."

[richestduck]

"You do the same," he told her with a soft smile.

Though getting up and leaving took herculean effort. He didn't want to go, certainly not as far away as Germany.
