Pass the test, t-taste the flesh (scrooge x magica)

 One of the disadvantages of immortal youth was that it sometimes limited her options. If she wanted something fresh and young, she needed to be where the fresh and young people where, and gods, their music was awful. What happened to the good old days of violins and organs?

So imagine her surprise as she viewed the buffet to find one snack that looked older than most. She raised an eyebrow - he didn't seem to be in any midlife crisis. The exact opposite, in fact - like if he had any real choice, he wouldn't be here. Well... she could fix that for him.

She licked her lips, and then made her way across the room. A gorgeous beauty like her, it was like parting the ocean waves with a hand. She was by his side within seconds, sizing him up.

Nice, very nice. He even smelled delicious.

"Congratulations, you're the most miserable person here, and I think that includes the janitor."

"What if I used my bat form?" She teased, tickling underneath his beak.

"You'd get caught in the X-Ray machine, I'm afraid. And I don't think you'd like to be kept in a crate."

A smile finally snuck its way onto his beak.

Progress! "Get me one of those little vests, say I'm your emotional support bat."

In a weird way, that wouldn't have been a complete lie.

Scrooge actually gave a little chuckle at that.

"Considering some of the other emotional support animals out there, a bat seems rather tame."

"I could sit on your shoulder, the whole way through." She kissed said shoulder, snuggling.

[richestduck]

He wrapped his arms around her, resting his chin on her shoulder.

"It's tempting to just hire a private jet, but I've got no way to justify that."

[blackmagicduck]

"I think being rich justifies everything. People expect you to be extravagant." She brushed his whiskers with her break.

[richestduck]

"They don't expect me to be extravagant. Business class? Sure. Private jet all by my lonesome without carrying equipment or whatnot? Doesn't fit."

[blackmagicduck]

"How unfair. You can't change your ways because of what others think... The outside world is overrated."

[richestduck]

"It's not just that. I...I don't have a private pilot anymore. So I'd have to hire someone on very short notice."

[blackmagicduck]

Ah, yes, that. Nearly stepped on a landmine. Best to avoid and distract.

"Would you believe I've never been on an airplane?"

[richestduck]

"You haven't? Not once?"

That was surprising.

[blackmagicduck]

She shook her head. "Most of my mortal life was in Italy... and I came to America by boat. Haven't had much of a reason or desire to move around."

[richestduck]

"I suppose that makes sense. When I first came to America, things were much more spread out than in Europe."

Plenty of space for a vampire to move hunting grounds safely.

[blackmagicduck]

"Despite my long life, I've been sheltered in a few ways... at least, I've chosen to be. It was hard to trust people for a long time, you understand." She stroked his cheek.

"Given how you were forcefully turned, I don't blame you."

Though would it have been better if she'd simply died? Possibly kinder for her, but his selfishness told him that he'd have to live without her in that scenario...not that he would've known her to begin with.

"So, count yourself very honored." She teased, flicking his beak. "My one in a million."

[richestduck]

He lifted his chin enough for him to turn and take one of her hands in his. He brought it to his beak to kiss it.

"I'm very honored, lass."

[blackmagicduck]

She chuckled, and leaned in to kiss him. "Feeling better?"

[richestduck]

"Aye."

For now, at least. By the end of the week, he was going to want to curl up into a hole, but for now he was content again.

"Come then." She pulled back, taking his hands. "Let's get you comfy in our usual place."

[richestduck]

He followed her, eager to leave the rest of the world behind. This was their world. No one could harm either of them here.

The projection room was as comfortable as always - maybe there were more blankets and pillows this time around. Plenty of food and drink, and a silly movie to melt their brains.

"Anything I can get you, darling?"

[richestduck]

He shook his head. "This is more than plenty. Thank you."

"Excellent." She ran the movie, and sat by his side, snuggling in. "Just you and me, and nothing else."
