 One of the disadvantages of immortal youth was that it sometimes limited her options. If she wanted something fresh and young, she needed to be where the fresh and young people where, and gods, their music was awful. What happened to the good old days of violins and organs?

So imagine her surprise as she viewed the buffet to find one snack that looked older than most. She raised an eyebrow - he didn't seem to be in any midlife crisis. The exact opposite, in fact - like if he had any real choice, he wouldn't be here. Well... she could fix that for him.

She licked her lips, and then made her way across the room. A gorgeous beauty like her, it was like parting the ocean waves with a hand. She was by his side within seconds, sizing him up.

Nice, very nice. He even smelled delicious.

"Congratulations, you're the most miserable person here, and I think that includes the janitor."

She resume rubbing his shoulders. "Now then... what would you like tonight? Dancing, reading, bad movies...? I'm prepared to give you whatever you want, in order to give you many memories you can rely on in your worst moments."

"I don't care. I just want to be here with you," he told her honestly.

He was going to be deprived of her presence for at least a week. Bad enough he had to go through two weeks of that on the regular, but he was going to have the stress of legal issues on top of it all.

"In that case..." She moved around to sit by his side. "It's not easy to massage you through fabric. Let's loosen you up a little." She reached over to unbutton him down.

He shivered as she unbuttoned his coat. As comforting as her home was, it tended to be a bit cold even for his tastes.

He leaned back into her, tilting his head back to nuzzle at her.

Once it was loose enough, she pushed it down, and began working his shoulders again. She returned the affectionate nuzzle, beginning to hum.

He closed his eyes and tried to relax, honest he did. He wanted to breathe in her scent and just forget the rest of the world.

However, his worries and responsibilities weren't going to let him go so easily. It was almost like mental whack-a-mole: Every time he thought he'd suppressed the outside world, it popped up somewhere else in his thinking.

She could see it in his face, he was elsewhere. She frowned - how was she supposed to help him if he wouldn't help himself?

She sighed, an then began to sing, quietly at first.

The song helped. It rooted her to the present day and time. He relaxed, allowing the song to carry his worries away.

Much better. She smiled, working his shoulders before moving to his back.

The lyrics this time were in Italian - though there was no enchantment.

The massive knot that was his back finally eased, and he sighed with relief. It wasn't a permanent fix he needed, but it would help exponentially.

"Thank you."

She placed a kiss on his neck. "Anything for you, darling."

[richestduck]

He leaned into the kiss. "I don't leave until the day after tomorrow and I've already notified my staff that I need to take a day to get ready for my flight."

"Ah, so I get more of you than usual.... what a treat." She reached around to stroke his chest.

[richestduck]

He nodded. "I've told my housekeeper that there was someone I needed to see and not to expect me back until midday tomorrow at the earliest. She knows what I typically pack for long trips, so it isn't like I need to do much packing."

She moved to comfortably sit in his lap. "Maybe I should be tucked along in your suitcase."

[richestduck]

"Don't take this the wrong way, but I doubt you'd fit."

[blackmagicduck]

"What if I used my bat form?" She teased, tickling underneath his beak.

[richestduck]

"You'd get caught in the X-Ray machine, I'm afraid. And I don't think you'd like to be kept in a crate."

A smile finally snuck its way onto his beak.

Progress! "Get me one of those little vests, say I'm your emotional support bat."

In a weird way, that wouldn't have been a complete lie.

Scrooge actually gave a little chuckle at that.

"Considering some of the other emotional support animals out there, a bat seems rather tame."

"I could sit on your shoulder, the whole way through." She kissed said shoulder, snuggling.

[richestduck]

He wrapped his arms around her, resting his chin on her shoulder.

"It's tempting to just hire a private jet, but I've got no way to justify that."

"I think being rich justifies everything. People expect you to be extravagant." She brushed his whiskers with her break.

[richestduck]

"They don't expect me to be extravagant. Business class? Sure. Private jet all by my lonesome without carrying equipment or whatnot? Doesn't fit."

"How unfair. You can't change your ways because of what others think... The outside world is overrated."
