Immortality tended to get boring. Whether she was booted out of the divine halls or voluntarily left depended on who you asked. As far as Magica De Spell was concerned, the mortals deserved to be in her presence every so often to entertain her. She flitted from village to village, trying to find someone worthy of her time, but alas, her standards were very high.
Then she learned to hear the whispers, the rumors, about a clan that rose from the depths of defeat and refused to stay down. The next head was a strong, determined lad who worked to the bone every day to bring glory to the family name. Curious about such a man, Magica walked along the dirt and the stones to where the man supposedly traveled for his wares. For now, she disguised her presence, allowing herself to be ignored by all living things so she could observe without being seen.
After all, when it came down to it, she wasn't going to hit it if this McDuck wasn't a looker.

He went into the castle not long after Magica, getting cleaned up swiftly. He still had that lingering scent of musk that came from a hard day's labor, but at least he wasn't offensively smelly.
When Magica came out, she'd find him astride a rather impressive gelding without a saddle, the leads for Autumn Sunshine and another gelding in the hand not gripping the reigns of his own horse. Behind him was a saddle pad.
"If we're lucky, we'll be walking back, but might as well ride out."
no subject
"And let me guess. I'm expected to saddle up myself." At least she was getting the hang of things, more or less.
no subject
"Here. I'll pull you up." He rolled his eyes again. "And, yes, you can talk. Just stay calm. No need to cause a panic."

She grabbed his hand, and seated herself comfortably behind him - and making sure to squeeze herself up to him as much as possible.

He clicked his tongue and gave a tap to the horse's sides with his heels. The three horses began walking towards town, content with Scrooge guiding them.

At the market, a few familiar faces to Scrooge did double-takes seeing the young lady with him - or rather, how the young lady was all over him. As far as they'd known him, he'd always been a committed bachelor.
no subject
"All right. I'll help you down." He held out his hand to her, intending to lower her down.

A light day, really.

She leaned on him, arms around him like his purpose was to hold her up. "Fine, fine, if we must..."

It was really having the opposite effect on potential customers, as no one wanted to be near... whatever this was.

He wanted to shove her off, but he didn't want to risk making the goddess even more annoyed.
Someone, please interrupt this!

"Magica De Spell?"
Magica froze. No. No way in hell or heaven. Had she summoned him by saying his name?!
Walking up to the unhappy couple was a young man with fluffy brown hair, small glasses, and plenty of scrolls under his arms. "My my my! Hail heartily, my good friend!"
no subject
"Which god are you?" he asked, wondering if he might be able to pawn Magica off on the newcomer.
At the same time, he tried to disentangle himself from her grip.
no subject
"Then do me a great service and LEAVE!" Magica snapped, letting go of Scrooge to try and push Ludwig away. "This is MY territory! And I'm not sharing!"
Oblivious to her ranting, Ludwig casually walked to the side - making Magica accidentally fall flat on her face - to inspect the horses for himself. "Would you look at these marvelous stallions! Such shiny coats, and such strong legs! These have been raised with expert care and attention! Why, I imagine this one will last many a good year!"
Funny enough, this was drawing attention in a more positive way. Potential customers were starting to glance over, intrigued by Ludwig's appraisal.

Well, Ludwig was already winning points in Scrooge's book. Much less annoying than Magica.

"Do it somewhere else!" Magica grabbed his arm, still trying to drag him away. "Move! Scram! Get lost!"
