 Immortality tended to get boring. Whether she was booted out of the divine halls or voluntarily left depended on who you asked. As far as Magica De Spell was concerned, the mortals deserved to be in her presence every so often to entertain her. She flitted from village to village, trying to find someone worthy of her time, but alas, her standards were very high.

Then she learned to hear the whispers, the rumors, about a clan that rose from the depths of defeat and refused to stay down. The next head was a strong, determined lad who worked to the bone every day to bring glory to the family name. Curious about such a man, Magica walked along the dirt and the stones to where the man supposedly traveled for his wares. For now, she disguised her presence, allowing herself to be ignored by all living things so she could observe without being seen.

After all, when it came down to it, she wasn't going to hit it if this McDuck wasn't a looker.

"Well, you learned your lesson then."

"Yes. Your whole family is the most ridiculous, insane, backwards, STUBBORN batch of mortals that has ever existed!"

[richestduck]

"Clan McDuck didn't thrive in Dismal Downs by being pushovers," Scrooge said with a shrug.

[lifesa_witch]

Magica stormed up right into Scrooge's face. "I will have you, one day, even if it's the last act you do on your death-bed at age one hundred and one!"

[richestduck]

"To be honest, that might be an interesting way to go," Scrooge said despite the deep blush. "At the very least, it'd be talked about for ages."

[lifesa_witch]

"Ha. You didn't deny it this time." A petty victory, but still a victory. She flicked his beak.

[richestduck]

"You're a goddess. If near-dead mortals make excellent bedmates in your eyes, who am I to judge? I'd be near-death anyway," he sassed back.

[lifesa_witch]

Angered, Magica grabbed Scrooge's hand, intending to plunge it right on her chest. "How can you not want any of this!"

[richestduck]

She succeeded, making him squawk in embarrassed indignation. He turned bright red from the top of his head to the tip of his tail.

Instead of thinking the logical route, in that Scrooge was too stunned to move, she believed this method was actually working since he hadn't pulled back. "Ah, so that's it, eh? You just want your woman to be more aggressive. That's your type. Well, I'm happy to oblige!"

She pressed her hand into her chest, making sure he'd get a good cup-full.

"Stooooop!" he wailed, trying to jerk his hand free.

Had this woman no shame?!

"The proper thing to say is, 'thank you'." But she mercifully let him go.

[richestduck]

"Why should I thank you for that?!" he blurted out, jerking his hand back.

[lifesa_witch]

"For experiencing the glory of a beautiful goddess, of course." She tossed her hair over her shoulders, moving to find a broom and start her own chores.

"You're very cute when you blush."

[richestduck]

He snorted in irritation, hating that the blush wasn't going away. "I need to get back to work."

[lifesa_witch]

"Good luck trying to do that, when I'm on your mind." She followed that up with a delightfully witchy cackle, but at least she walked away.

Scrooge groaned, running his hands down his face. Why? Why him? Why was she drawn to him of all people?!

[lifesa_witch]

Magica was more than willing to put the day's nonsense behind her, and move forward. Tomorrow was another day! Since the sisters didn't work, maybe she could butter up the parents... some said a boy's best friend was his mother.

So with that plan in mind, the next day, she headed for the door, ready to get a head start on her chores -

There stood Quackmore with a bouquet. "Good day, Magica! Could you tell that lovely maiden you were with -"

SLAM.

Magica thudded her head to the now shut door. "How dare my day start off this bad."

Scrooge walked up behind her. "Odd to see you up this early." He looked at the door. "Friend of yours?"

[lifesa_witch]

"Absolutely not." Magica answered, running a hand down her face. "... It appears you lot have gained another divine suitor."

[richestduck]

"...Which one of us? If it's Mummy, Daddy will have a few things to say about that. And I'd place my bets on Daddy, not the god who fancied Mummy."

[lifesa_witch]

Really? That's who he guessed? His baby sister was quite unpopular, apparently.

"Hortense."

[richestduck]

"Ah. Given she socked the god of war, apparently one or more of his rivals is sucking up to her. I'll go get her."

[lifesa_witch]

"I wish it were that simple." Magica rubbed her temples, but didn't stop Scrooge from fetching his sister. Maybe if Hortense walloped Quackmore far enough, he'd be sent so far it'd take him that much longer to return.

[richestduck]

Scrooge returned only a minute or two later, a rather annoyed Hortense at his side.

"Let's get this over with," she griped, moving Magica aside to open the door.
