 Immortality tended to get boring. Whether she was booted out of the divine halls or voluntarily left depended on who you asked. As far as Magica De Spell was concerned, the mortals deserved to be in her presence every so often to entertain her. She flitted from village to village, trying to find someone worthy of her time, but alas, her standards were very high.

Then she learned to hear the whispers, the rumors, about a clan that rose from the depths of defeat and refused to stay down. The next head was a strong, determined lad who worked to the bone every day to bring glory to the family name. Curious about such a man, Magica walked along the dirt and the stones to where the man supposedly traveled for his wares. For now, she disguised her presence, allowing herself to be ignored by all living things so she could observe without being seen.

After all, when it came down to it, she wasn't going to hit it if this McDuck wasn't a looker.

"The proper thing to say is, 'thank you'." But she mercifully let him go.

[richestduck]

"Why should I thank you for that?!" he blurted out, jerking his hand back.

[lifesa_witch]

"For experiencing the glory of a beautiful goddess, of course." She tossed her hair over her shoulders, moving to find a broom and start her own chores.

"You're very cute when you blush."

[richestduck]

He snorted in irritation, hating that the blush wasn't going away. "I need to get back to work."

"Good luck trying to do that, when I'm on your mind." She followed that up with a delightfully witchy cackle, but at least she walked away.

Scrooge groaned, running his hands down his face. Why? Why him? Why was she drawn to him of all people?!

Magica was more than willing to put the day's nonsense behind her, and move forward. Tomorrow was another day! Since the sisters didn't work, maybe she could butter up the parents... some said a boy's best friend was his mother.

So with that plan in mind, the next day, she headed for the door, ready to get a head start on her chores -

There stood Quackmore with a bouquet. "Good day, Magica! Could you tell that lovely maiden you were with -"

SLAM.

Magica thudded her head to the now shut door. "How dare my day start off this bad."

[richestduck]

Scrooge walked up behind her. "Odd to see you up this early." He looked at the door. "Friend of yours?"

"Absolutely not." Magica answered, running a hand down her face. "... It appears you lot have gained another divine suitor."

[richestduck]

"...Which one of us? If it's Mummy, Daddy will have a few things to say about that. And I'd place my bets on Daddy, not the god who fancied Mummy."

[lifesa_witch]

Really? That's who he guessed? His baby sister was quite unpopular, apparently.

"Hortense."

[richestduck]

"Ah. Given she socked the god of war, apparently one or more of his rivals is sucking up to her. I'll go get her."

[lifesa_witch]

"I wish it were that simple." Magica rubbed her temples, but didn't stop Scrooge from fetching his sister. Maybe if Hortense walloped Quackmore far enough, he'd be sent so far it'd take him that much longer to return.

[richestduck]

Scrooge returned only a minute or two later, a rather annoyed Hortense at his side.

"Let's get this over with," she griped, moving Magica aside to open the door.

Quackmore didn't appear to be annoyed by the wait, and his smile brightened when he saw Hortense. Magica braced herself for sheer stupidity.

He took a deep breath, and presented the flowers. "Please bare my children!"

Scrooge snorted, hastily closing his mouth and looking away when Hortense snapped her head around to glare at him.

Matilda -- who'd decided to poke her head around the corner -- offered, voice wavering from suppressed laughter, "At least he said please?"

Hortense glared at her sister before looking Quackmore dead in the eye and telling him, "No."

Quackmore seemed initially puzzled before snapping his fingers. "Ah, that's right. You mortals prefer to be wooed first, then courted, then marriage, then children."

"Unfortunately, yes." Magica grumbled.

"Very well! I accept the challenge!" Quackmore offered the flowers again. "Never in my life have I met a woman as powerful as you! I had long since given up on finding anyone to be worthy of my companionship, but you're above and beyond that!"

"Why is it Matilda got the one who at least has some sense of humility?" Hortense complained.

"I know, right?" Scrooge groused.

Magica snorted. "Hey, the price to pay for that is never getting any. Hope she enjoys celibacy."

Quackmore ignored the complaints. "First comes the wooing! Fair maiden, merely tell me your desire and I will grant it!"

[richestduck]

"For starters, go get lost," Hortense said bluntly.

[lifesa_witch]

Quackmore clutched his chest - and looked darn happy about it. "Her words are as sharp as her strikes! I've really discovered a great treasure... Would it be too much to ask how good your kicks are?"

Magica quickly began to walk past them. "Nope, I don't wanna see where this goes."

[richestduck]

"I do," Matilda said.

Scrooge blinked in his sweeter-tempered sister's direction, Matilda smiling innocently.

"Happy to oblige." Hortense swung her foot forwards.

And if Quackmore still managed to sire any children after the strike, it would be a miracle.

Another solid, swift K.O., with Quackmore flopping on the ground, tears in his eyes. "So... good.."

Magica headed for the kitchen, wondering if this place had any decent booze to deal with this nonsense.

[richestduck]

"Good morning, dear!" Downy greeted, her rolling out dough for pie later.

Magica glanced her way. It seemed almost cruel to tell her that her youngest daughter had gotten a masochistic suitor.

"... Good morning." She glanced away. "Any way I can help out here?"
