Immortality tended to get boring. Whether she was booted out of the divine halls or voluntarily left depended on who you asked. As far as Magica De Spell was concerned, the mortals deserved to be in her presence every so often to entertain her. She flitted from village to village, trying to find someone worthy of her time, but alas, her standards were very high.
Then she learned to hear the whispers, the rumors, about a clan that rose from the depths of defeat and refused to stay down. The next head was a strong, determined lad who worked to the bone every day to bring glory to the family name. Curious about such a man, Magica walked along the dirt and the stones to where the man supposedly traveled for his wares. For now, she disguised her presence, allowing herself to be ignored by all living things so she could observe without being seen.
After all, when it came down to it, she wasn't going to hit it if this McDuck wasn't a looker.

Obviously, in exchange for sleeping with her. She doubted he'd take up the offer, but it was worth a shot.

Matilda adjusted her bags. "We'd best get these to Mummy. Come on, Hortense."
"I'm coming, I'm coming..."

Still, it'd be nice to do something to earn Scrooge's favor. Trying to get an in with Matilda hadn't worked out. Maybe she could try with Hortense? She'd wait until the next day, and then try to join Hortense with her chores. Desperate times, desperate situations, all that jazz.

Not that Scrooge knew what was going on outside of Matilda fretting over what to ask Ludwig to teach her. (Had his sister decided to take up scholarship instead of romance?)
He wondered about Magica's answers to his own questioning. Really, were gods really that unchanging? No wonder she spent time with mortals: It must be horribly dull.

"Hang on, let me join you!" She waved, putting on a cheerful act. "So, what are the big important chores of the day?"

"What do you want? Name your price."

Hortense had put quite a bit of thought into this, apparently.

"... That all depends on if the intel is good, and works."

But let's be real - it was sheer stubbornness on her end that was going to make her agree to the deal. If Scrooge would just sleep with her once...!
She held out her hand. "Deal."

"... He seemed pleased that I was doing the chores without being told the other day. And he was curious about some of my powers."

Pot. Kettle.

Because Hortense was about to drill into Magica's head just what Matilda had been more tactful to say.
