WELCOME TO THE RESCUE ME MEME

Mugged, kidnapping, held hostage, imprisoned, arranged marriage – one way or another, your character needs a rescue pronto! This meme is about exploring all the different ways of rescuing, so mix and match your favorite tropes! Drop your character, your preferences, and whether you’d like them to be rescued, the rescuer, or both! This also doesn’t have to be shippy – save a friend, a family member, an enemy, or a complete stranger, because everyone could use a hero!

Original Flavor
Your standard save! Burst onto the scene! Take down the bad guys! Save the victim! It doesn’t have to be needlessly complicated to be fun!

Disguise The Limit
Work smarter, not harder. Instead of a big fancy entrance, disguise yourself as one of the guards or the big baddy themselves to sneak past and save the day. Hope you’re good at acting!

Teamwork = Dreamwork
This is about partnering up to save the day! Two heads, or more, are better than one – are you reluctant enemies working for the same cause, or do you all care about each other just that much?

Making Mistakes
You thought they were in danger, but… oops. A light misunderstanding, “it’s not what it looks like”, or your victim was the enemy all along! Better have a back-up plan, in case you make more trouble than you planned to solve!

Last Second Switch
You’re one of the baddies who was in on this from the start, but now you’re having second thoughts. Is the plan going too far, or did you wind up caring for the victim? It’s up to you to stop this at the last possible moment – or take advantage of your power and help the victim escape in a sneakier way.

Saving Screw-Up
You were trying to be the big hero… and instead you wound up in the same trouble as the victim. Now you’re sharing a jail cell, or tied up next to them, maybe they’ll even switch victims since you’re a better target! A for effort, at least?

Accidentally Awesome
You were just going about your business and suddenly stumbled into a crime! Sure, you could just walk on, but you’re not that type of person! Even though you don’t know anything about the situation, step in and show them your stuff! Your ordinary day just got a whole lot weirder!

It’s Up To Me
This is taking way too long – save yourself! Kick some ass, take some names, and then… run into the person or people who were trying to save you. Maybe you’ll be the one saving them instead!

Rescue Sex
Don’t you worry, dirty birdies, I got you. Nothing quite says “hot” like watching someone get extremely feral in trying to save you. Hey, if you don’t even make it home before the clothes come off, we don’t blame you.

Here are a few other small tropes to work with, and there’s even more here if you want more spice!

• Seduce the guard/baddy into letting you go or grabbing the keys!
• Minions saving baddy from heroes!
• You’re saving a beloved pet, or a precious artifact!

[ The nights of St. Canard are typically filled with the sounds of any big city - people arguing, cars honking, lights buzzing, the occasional evil laugh of a super-villain... But tonight has an extra mix of the squeaks of two very upset bats! Their mistress is in trouble, and when that happens, there's only one duck to call!

They flap all throughout the city, trying to find him, but it's proving to be very difficult! Purple blends into the shadows too well! Eventually they decide he'll have to come to them, and he'll only appear when there's danger afoot. How much harm can two little bats do?

The answer, according to a very confused police officer on dispatch - "Be on the lookout for... um... b-bats biting through the wires of traffic lights?! All the lights are mixed up! Oh, I should just do what my mother said and move to Duckburg, it's gotta be saner than this place!" ]

[ Ultimately, Daisy is annoyed with herself. Honestly, dating anyone in the Duck/McDuck family should expect trouble around the corner. So she had no business being knocked out, tied up, and then dragged away to who-knows-where for who-knows-what. C'mon, girl, this is amateur hour!

The Eggheads guarding her cell probably weren't expecting much from a dainty, lovely little duck... which is why it was just that easy to smash their heads together from the cell bars and grab the keys. As she lets herself out, she twirls the keyring around her finger, trying to look for an exit. ]

Oh, I do hope I can get back before Donald gets too worried. And I just made this dress and its got smudges all over it!

Mix of Original and Disguise

[Why on Earth did Dorian need not one but TWO different organizations after him? Allura diesn't know whether it's the bounty hunters or the stupidly titled Nameless Ones (doesn't being called the Nameless Ones automatically give them a name???) who've captured him, and frankly she doesn't care. She thought that splitting up to restock supplies and gather info would draw less attention to him, but instead that just left him vulnerable. Stupid, stupid, STUPID. She knows she can't brute force her way into the fortress; she'd just end up captured, turned over to Zarkon for a bounty, or outright killed. So instead she lures a guard her way, knocks them out, and uses her Altean shapeshifting to fit herself into the stolen uniform. Stay until shift change, then slowly... make her way to the holding cells, clearing her throat to prepare a gruffer voice.]

Boss wants reinforcements up front. Apparently we got word of some morons planning to save pretty boy 'ere later tonight.

[ Fortunately, the bounty hunters were at least limited to a different continent, as Cyrus' bounty hadn't quite reached this far (yet). But that did mean that he had been captured by the Nameless Ones, who were starting to spread their influence and numbers all throughout this land.

And they had all been made aware, to at least some degree, of Dorian and the others. The one good thing about having been discovered by this group of Nameless Ones was that their leader is not currently present in this city, so their orders were to simply capture any member of the Crown Keepers that they come across, and to hold them until Poska's arrival, in order for her to personally take care of them herself.

Which is how Dorian found himself in a holding cell, gagged and wrists bound behind his back to prevent him from performing any kind of spell. He has no idea how long it's been since he'd been captured, the passage of time lost in the dark underground where the cells are.

The sudden new voice manages to cut through his daze, and he glances up just a bit to see a third guard has joined the two who are guarding his cell.

The two guards exchange puzzled glances, before turning to the newcomer. ]

If anyone's trying to break in and rescue him, though, wouldn't it make more sense for to reinforce the guards here?

[Allura is not happy right now. All she wanted was to go on a nice trip of the kingdom incognito and she gets kidnapped by these bandits or slavers or whatever they are. She gives them a few broken arms and shattered "family jewels" for their trouble, but that just means once her stamina goes and they capture her, she's placed in the most secure wing of their fortress under very heavy chains. Even her considerable strength can't break them easily, not to mention she's exhausted from all the fighting. At least she's not totally alone; a much more obviously muscled woman happens to be in the cell opposite hers, both of them absentmindedly watched by a pair of VERY chatty, VERY stupid guards.]

[ It had been a bit of carelessness on Luisa's part that landed her getting captured; she had been patrolling the outskirts of her hometown when she'd been ambushed by a group of men. They didn't say who they were or what they wanted, other than to drag her somewhere, but while she'd managed to fight against them for the most part, one snuck up behind her and knocked her out.

She didn't know where they had taken her, or how long she'd been out, but she'd woken up to the sounds of the guards talking pretty loudly in front of her cell, and had seen the woman in the cell across from hers. The guards also didn't seem to notice that she was awake, giving her time to feel how she'd been bound.

Testing her hands, she could feel that it didn't seem to be more than rope. That was certainly fortunate...but how to break free without the guards noticing? ]
