THE RESCUE ME MEME

WELCOME TO THE RESCUE ME MEME

Mugged, kidnapping, held hostage, imprisoned, arranged marriage – one way or another, your character needs a rescue pronto! This meme is about exploring all the different ways of rescuing, so mix and match your favorite tropes! Drop your character, your preferences, and whether you’d like them to be rescued, the rescuer, or both! This also doesn’t have to be shippy – save a friend, a family member, an enemy, or a complete stranger, because everyone could use a hero!

Original Flavor
Your standard save! Burst onto the scene! Take down the bad guys! Save the victim! It doesn’t have to be needlessly complicated to be fun!

Disguise The Limit
Work smarter, not harder. Instead of a big fancy entrance, disguise yourself as one of the guards or the big baddy themselves to sneak past and save the day. Hope you’re good at acting!

Teamwork = Dreamwork
This is about partnering up to save the day! Two heads, or more, are better than one – are you reluctant enemies working for the same cause, or do you all care about each other just that much?

Making Mistakes
You thought they were in danger, but… oops. A light misunderstanding, “it’s not what it looks like”, or your victim was the enemy all along! Better have a back-up plan, in case you make more trouble than you planned to solve!

Last Second Switch
You’re one of the baddies who was in on this from the start, but now you’re having second thoughts. Is the plan going too far, or did you wind up caring for the victim? It’s up to you to stop this at the last possible moment – or take advantage of your power and help the victim escape in a sneakier way.

Saving Screw-Up
You were trying to be the big hero… and instead you wound up in the same trouble as the victim. Now you’re sharing a jail cell, or tied up next to them, maybe they’ll even switch victims since you’re a better target! A for effort, at least?

Accidentally Awesome
You were just going about your business and suddenly stumbled into a crime! Sure, you could just walk on, but you’re not that type of person! Even though you don’t know anything about the situation, step in and show them your stuff! Your ordinary day just got a whole lot weirder!

It’s Up To Me
This is taking way too long – save yourself! Kick some ass, take some names, and then… run into the person or people who were trying to save you. Maybe you’ll be the one saving them instead!

Rescue Sex
Don’t you worry, dirty birdies, I got you. Nothing quite says “hot” like watching someone get extremely feral in trying to save you. Hey, if you don’t even make it home before the clothes come off, we don’t blame you.

[ and I can't pass up this opportunity - we both know she's capable of handling herself. So maybe he's trying to save her from the remains of F.O.W.L. while she's making her escape? It would fit in with his bad luck, lol~

But yes that sounds like fun to me! Let's go with that!]

[ Ultimately, Daisy is annoyed with herself. Honestly, dating anyone in the Duck/McDuck family should expect trouble around the corner. So she had no business being knocked out, tied up, and then dragged away to who-knows-where for who-knows-what. C'mon, girl, this is amateur hour!

The Eggheads guarding her cell probably weren't expecting much from a dainty, lovely little duck... which is why it was just that easy to smash their heads together from the cell bars and grab the keys. As she lets herself out, she twirls the keyring around her finger, trying to look for an exit. ]

Oh, I do hope I can get back before Donald gets too worried. And I just made this dress and its got smudges all over it!

[Loud squawks echo from another hallway. There, an enraged duck is in the middle of a battle with a squad of Eggheads!]

Let... Daisy... go!

[Of course, none of them can make out what he's saying. They just assume it's a battle cry. He's already torn through an alarming number of them from pure anger, but now they've called in reinforcements which dogpile onto him, finally turning the tables on the duck!]

[ She'd recognize that silky smooth voice anywhere! So much for not worrying him... And when she first coms onto the scene, she actually feels kind of bad. He came all this way and made so much effort, and she got out on her own.

Maybe she should lock herself up so he can feel better? He gets so little wins!

But that idea is quickly dashed when the numbers add up, and they actually begin hurting her precious man! Berserk Button, pushed. ]

HANDS OFF HIM, YOU CREEPS!

[ The nearest Egghead is treated to a swift kick in the back, which, with high-heels, is extra ow-filled. ]

[There's like tem of them pinning him down. Even so, he squirms and keeps trying to buck then off! It's getting a bit easier with each one Daisy takes out of the equation.

He can't hear much over the sound of his own angry squawking, but one voice manages to cut through and get him right in the heart.]

Daisy?! [Luckily, he's loud enough to be only slightly muffled by all of the bodies covering him right now.]

DAISY I'M HERE TO RESCUE YOU!!

And you're doing an excellent job, sweetie!

[ Clapclapclap - PUNCH TO THE JUGULAR, KNEE TO THE STOMACH - clapclapclap!

She makes it to the pile and takes off her hair ribbon, letting her hair feathers fall a bit, looking quite pretty as she does so... but it's only to use the ribbon as a chokehold for one of the guys on top of Donald. ]

I'm so, sorry I let this happen! I was just so distracted, you know, thinking up new designs for Ms. Glamour, I don't know where the time went!

It's not your fault! We all let our guards down sometimes. I'm just glad that you're safe! And that I get to rescue-

[He pauses to, with another angry squawk, throw off some more of the palookas on his back, just to finally see Daisy already cleaning some of their clocks.]

Oh. ... I shoulda seen this coming!

[ Now that they can finally see each other, Daisy sighs in relief, smacking another Egghead aside so she can run right up to him, holding his face. ]

Oh, Donald! Are you hurt anywhere? Are you all right?

[ Casually back-handing the next guy trying to approach her, not even blinking. ]

Daisy!

[Despite the fact that they were already talking to each other, he still proclaims her name with full reunion affection, while trampling over a fallen Egghead.]

I- I'm alright! They just ruffled my feathers, that's all!

[Well he does have some bruises and a small lump on his head. But this is fine! He places his hands on her face at the same time.]

But what about you! They better not have hurt a hair on your head!

I'm fine, really... I mean, this dress is totally wrinkled, and some of the stitches are ripped so it's -

[ She pauses abruptly upon seeing the small lump on Donald's head. When she looks at the remaining Eggheads, it's with an expression that would make even Magica cower in fright. ]

WHICH ONE OF YOU DID THIS TO HIM?

[ One promptly points to the guy on his left.
"Dude!"
"I'M SORRY, I PANICKED-"

Daisy pulls back to crack her knuckles. ]

[Donald quickly tries to coax her, resting his hands on her shoulders.]

D-Daisy, Daisy! It's okay. They're already down, and I'm not hurt at all! When I look at you, I feel like a million bucks!

[ She'd still like to smash some skulls, but if Donald's okay... Fine, she'll show some mercy. Temporarily. If the other guys start running.

She leans on Donald, hoping he's not just saying that to comfort her or quell the bloodlust. ]

I guess we should try to get out of here... wherever "here" is. And why would they take me?

[Of course, he's only showing mercy because it's not the other way around... but Donald doesn't hesitate to walk over the fallen Eggheads. No walking on eggshells here!]

Because they're the bad guys? [He answers blankly.] We took care of all the brains behind them, so maybe they're just trying to grab anyone they could find connected to the family...

Anyway, getting out of here should be a cinch! We'll just go back the way I came!

[Donald turns around and walks his beak right into a steel door that's sealed shut.]

[ Ouch. Well, if he wasn't in pain before, he might be now! ]

... I think we might need to try another exit strategy.

[ A pause, and then, well, just as importantly - ! ]

You think they really consider me part of your family now? So soon?

[ She's absolutely flattered! Hands on her heart and everything! ]

[It's fine, he's fine, he's been through a lot worse... He takes a moment to adjust his beak while trying to think of exit options, but all of that quickly goes out of his mind in the wake of Daisy's question.]

Uh-huh! [He nods eagerly.] I- I think they really think you're one of us, And that you're really special and that this relationship has a real future...! [He rubs at his neck bashfully.] I bet they're thinking a lot of things like that!

Awww... this is the nicest kidnapping I've ever been in! ... And the only one, too, but it still counts.

[ She hugs his arm, fingers interlocking. ]

I guess you're right! After all, F.O.W.L. is pretty big league in villainy... so if they took me, it must mean something special!

Of course it does! Even those nincompoops can see how great you are!

[He grins as she hugs his arm and tilts his head down to nuzzle his beak against her cheek a little.]

They thought they could split us apart, but they only made us stronger! That'll show them!

[He turns around and immediately bumps back into the sealed door that he already forgot the existence of.]

[ Oops. Maybe they ought to save the romantic revelations for later... if they can. She winces, and tugs at his arm, trying to lead him away. ]

Um... Maybe we should try another direction. You've got way more experience than I do with these things, where should we go?

[First he takes a moment to get angry at the door.]

Stupid door, why I oughta...!

[But with Daisy present, he manages to take a breath and calm down instead of trying to punch a steel door. He sighs and looks back at her.]

We need to find some other way out. Like a garbage chute, or an air vent! We do have experience with vents!

[ Daisy grimaces - yeah, if she had to choose, please lets do the vents over anything related to the garbage! ]

Vents, vents, vents... oh, here we go!

[ She spots one a little high up, and she frowns at the distance. ]

It's kind of tall... One of us will have to give the other a boost, then pull the other one up.

[A good old-fashioned vent! Donals is ready and at her side, looking up with determination!]

Leave it to me, Daisy! I'm here to support you and help you reach new heights!

[Once she's ready, he can boost her right up!]

Upsy-Daisy!

[ Okay, that gets some girly giggles out of her. If she had to escape a deadly villainous lair with anyone, she's so glad it's with him! She wretches the vent cover over, wriggles inside, and then manages to turn around to try and pull him up. ]

It does feel nice to raise you up! I just wish I could do it more often!

But you do it all the time! [He chuckles slightly as he's pulled up and makes his way into the vent behind her.]

It feels like you're always lifting up my heart...! [Of course he has something sappy to say about it.]

[ And, for some reason, she enjoys every bit of sap he has to offer. ]

Donaaald! Really, are you trying to make me blush? It's like every time I try to compliment you, you have two more ready to go!
