WELCOME TO THE RESCUE ME MEME

Mugged, kidnapping, held hostage, imprisoned, arranged marriage – one way or another, your character needs a rescue pronto! This meme is about exploring all the different ways of rescuing, so mix and match your favorite tropes! Drop your character, your preferences, and whether you’d like them to be rescued, the rescuer, or both! This also doesn’t have to be shippy – save a friend, a family member, an enemy, or a complete stranger, because everyone could use a hero!

Original Flavor
Your standard save! Burst onto the scene! Take down the bad guys! Save the victim! It doesn’t have to be needlessly complicated to be fun!

Disguise The Limit
Work smarter, not harder. Instead of a big fancy entrance, disguise yourself as one of the guards or the big baddy themselves to sneak past and save the day. Hope you’re good at acting!

Teamwork = Dreamwork
This is about partnering up to save the day! Two heads, or more, are better than one – are you reluctant enemies working for the same cause, or do you all care about each other just that much?

Making Mistakes
You thought they were in danger, but… oops. A light misunderstanding, “it’s not what it looks like”, or your victim was the enemy all along! Better have a back-up plan, in case you make more trouble than you planned to solve!

Last Second Switch
You’re one of the baddies who was in on this from the start, but now you’re having second thoughts. Is the plan going too far, or did you wind up caring for the victim? It’s up to you to stop this at the last possible moment – or take advantage of your power and help the victim escape in a sneakier way.

Saving Screw-Up
You were trying to be the big hero… and instead you wound up in the same trouble as the victim. Now you’re sharing a jail cell, or tied up next to them, maybe they’ll even switch victims since you’re a better target! A for effort, at least?

Accidentally Awesome
You were just going about your business and suddenly stumbled into a crime! Sure, you could just walk on, but you’re not that type of person! Even though you don’t know anything about the situation, step in and show them your stuff! Your ordinary day just got a whole lot weirder!

It’s Up To Me
This is taking way too long – save yourself! Kick some ass, take some names, and then… run into the person or people who were trying to save you. Maybe you’ll be the one saving them instead!

Rescue Sex
Don’t you worry, dirty birdies, I got you. Nothing quite says “hot” like watching someone get extremely feral in trying to save you. Hey, if you don’t even make it home before the clothes come off, we don’t blame you.

Here are a few other small tropes to work with, and there’s even more here if you want more spice!

• Seduce the guard/baddy into letting you go or grabbing the keys!
• Minions saving baddy from heroes!
• You’re saving a beloved pet, or a precious artifact!

[ Egghead grunt #2 glances up at the vents. Is it his imagination or did he hear some whispering up there? "Uh, sir-"

"So find that girl and get her locked back up right away! She could be his future wife! The mother of his children! The future matriarch of Clan McDuck!"

SHE CAN'T STAND IT ANYMORE! She lets out a mortified, embarrassed, loud choked noise, before trying to cover her mouth with her hands... which now gets both Eggheads staring at the vents. ]

... Oops.

[duckflails]

[Donald was about to faint from the kinds of things they were saying! But he's snapped back to attention by the noise Daisy makes - and the reactions of their enemies.]

Uh-oh.

[Donald gulps.]

Quick, we gotta throw them off our trail!

[He gently tries to pull Daisy back further from the hole... and tries making cat noises to see if it will work! Though to anyone who isn't Daisy, it might sound more like a dying car.]

[ Daisy scoots away from the hole as close as she can, wincing. There's an eerie silence that stretches on...

"Is someone breaking into my car?!" One grunt says in horror. "It sounds like it's breaking apart! I still haven't finished paying it off!" He runs off, worried about his fate, and from the sound of footsteps, the others may be joining him.

Once she thinks they could be alone, Daisy mournfully murmurs. ]

Donald, I'm so sorry...! I just... well, what they were saying... I'm really bad at this whole adventure thing!

[duckflails]

[Phew! That was a close one! Donald takes a moment to sigh in relief before placing his hands on Daisy's shoulders in a comforting gesture.]

It- it's okay! You're not bad, you're just getting used to all this! And trust me, you don't wanna get too used to this stuff!

[A weary laugh.]

A-and they sure were saying a... a whole lot of things...!

Y-Yeah, a whole... lot of things...

[ She nervously wrings her hands a little, her voice dropping down to a little murmur. Once again, the idea to escape... well, escapes them. ]

I mean... not... bad things, kind of...

[duckflails]

Th-they're not bad! Right?! [He grasps onto that statement like it's a life vest.]

Just, uh, just a little early for some of that. Just a little bit! [He dissolves into nervous chuckles while reddening.]

E-exactly! Way too early! ... Sort of...

[ Sheesh, her face is so red it'd outshine a tomato! ]

... M-Maybe we should go back the way we came, and see if there's another route? ... One that... doesn't involve bad guys discussing our future before we do...

[duckflails]

What does that have to do with our- [He blinks before it dawns on him.] OH right, we're tying to escape! Yeah, let's try that! There's gotta be another way!

[With that, Donald tries... crawling back the way they came. And trying not to think too much about all those delightful possibilities, or his embarrassment!]

[ Daisy follows suit, trying not to think of all those silly, weird... delightful... things that had been said!

She's not thinking of a wedding on the houseboat!
Or of May and June taking care of a little sister/brother!
Nor of making an outfit based on the tartan of Clan McDuck!

NOPE, NO SIR, CLEAR HEAD HERE. ]

R-right, there has to be way! So many ways! Anyway but here!

[duckflails]

[Right! It's not like Donald is brainstorming vows or baby names already or anything! Escaping's the important part here!

Head empty, no fantasies, just escape?]

Exactly! There's always a way. Maybe we can just find another vent. Hopefully one that's more stable!

[Finally he reaches the one they came from and carefully tries to crawl back out.]

[ Daisy sighs in relief, and then cups her beak in thought. ]

You know, we did knock out a lot of those Eggheads... maybe we can do that thing in movies and steal some uniforms? Does that ever work?

[duckflails]

[Donald snaps his fingers in realization.]

Good thinking! That kinda plan works all the time! ...Or most of the time. ... Sometimes it works.

... Anyway, it might work! See, you're thinking like an adventurer already. Let's go for it!

[The coast seems clear, and a bunch of the beaten Eggheads are still lying around knocked out. So Donald gets to work trying to snatch the outfit closest to his size!]

[ Not... exactly reassuring, but what choice do they have? Daisy manages to find a like-bodied Eggy, and begins taking off their uniform. ]

Hm, it looks like they have keycards here... if the exit's locked, we'll need those. Until then, we just have to act like bad guys, right?

[ How hard can that be? ]

[Donald takes the uniform off his target and starts squeezing into it while listening to Daisy.]

Yeah! Just say the baddest things you can imagine, and they'll buy it! The keycards should be real useful too! Maybe they can open that big door from before!

Maybe I should get in some practice first...

[ She clears her throat, trying to get into her role. Hmmm.]

Um... Those... foolish McDucks will get what's coming to them! And... with them out of the way, the world will be ours! Ahahahaha~!

Not bad! You got the laugh down real good. I think you just need more confidence! Try thinking like Miss Glamour!

Ms. Glamour, huh...

[ She narrows her eyes, and then brings her hand to her lip, suddenly inspired. ]

I can't believe you brought this in front of my eyes. Just how does that brain of yours function? Get out of my sight before the very look of you damages my good taste.

[ Boy, that sounded experienced. ]

[duckflails]

[Donald immediately recoils and shields himself as he hears that!]

Good, good! Y-you got it! You're perfect, pure evil now! I think you're good to go!! Or should I say, bad to go!

[ Like a flipped switch, she immediately goes back to sweet and sincere. ]

Aw thank you, honey! What about you? Let's hear your bad guy voice!

[duckflails]

[Donald slowly... lowers his arms as if he wasn't just frightened for life but also in awe and regains his composure.]

Sure! I try to channel Duck Vader.

[He clears his throat.]

You've disobeyed me for the last time! Lock them away, and throw away the key! You. Are. Grounded!

[Or maybe he focused more on the 'I am your father' part of that character.]

[ Daisy also raises her arm in response to his voice - though it's to put a hand on her heart instead. Yikes. That was... nice. ]

... Th-that was very... good! I mean bad! Yes, you sounded very... commanding.

[ She may want to hear that again, in private, in the houseboat... A-Anyway! She shakes her head, clearing it. ]

L-Let's get this ugly outfits on and try getting the door open! From here on out, we're regular Eggheads!

[duckflails]

[He smiles proudly! And with a little bit of sheepishness as he rubs at his head.]

Th-thanks! I'm glad you like it!

[He feels like he could use some practice though. Once they get home, they can practice together. A whole lot of practice...

But Daisy's words get him back on task.]

R-right! We've got work to do! [He slips on his helmet and shades. The sleeves are a little long on him, but otherwise it all fits well enough.] I'm all ready! How about you!

[He glances over to see how she looks in uniform!]

[ A great figure, as always! ... Though the look is diminished by the goofy looking helmet. ]

I think so... it's kind of bunching up my hair a bit. I'm going to have so many frizzles when this is over... And I hope it's over soon! Let's go!

[duckflails]

[While it's a concept that he's never even begun to doubt, Donald now has more evidence that Daisy can make anything look hot. Even the goofy helmet looks endearing on her! But he tries not to stare.]

I'm sure it'll be fine. With not a hair out of place! Now, uh, I guess we should get moving!

[Tearing his eyes away from Daisy, he approaches the big door while holding up the keycard. It doesn't respond, and so he walks his face into the steel door once again!]

Ow.

[ All right, now she's frustrated. ]

Come on already! What does it take for this stupid thing to open?!

[ She growls, and gives the door a good hard kick! ... Which makes it slowly start to open. ]

... Wow, my karate classes are really coming in handy!
