Fairytale AU - Mickey & Minnie

No one had ever seen the royal family, not unless they were super important, super rich, or some combination of the two. Minnie was neither - when it came to the social ladder, she wasn't just the bottom rung, she was probably below the ground holding it up. But she never complained - she was content with her life, and didn't crave anything more... except maybe a nice boy to spend it with, but beggars can't be choosers. Nice boys were hard to find nowadays. Most in the village were rough with roaming eyes, and Minnie couldn't see herself spending time with any of them.

Besides, there were bigger things to worry about these days. Word was that outside the kingdom, dragons had been spotted! What if they invaded the kingdom? Then again, no one in the village had ever seen a dragon... or faeries, or sprites, or nymphs, or anything else magical. So when Minnie's cat had run off into the woods, she didn't fear any of these things, trying to find her little baby before it got away too far.

"Figaro!" She called out, trying to find her beloved kitty-cat. "Figaro, you naughty boy, where are you?"

The good news is that she found her cat.

The bad news is that she also found the dragon. A scream of fear echoed throughout the forest...

While Prince Mickey had to up hold his duties as royalty. A lot of it could get tiring after awhile. An afternoon trot on his horse outside the castle walls should be just fine. No one could bother him out here after all.

But it was then in that moment of peace Mickey heard that scream echo. Alerted by the cry he jolted the horse into the forest. "Who-Hand on!!"

And the prince was coming as Mickey drew near he saw the dragon in the distance, taking out his sword to prepare for combat.

The young maiden was ducked under a tree, holding her cat close to her chest. She shut her eyes, hot tears ready to fall at her fate. This was like something out of a storybook... but where was the white knight on a horse to slay the dragon?

That's when she heard someone call out, and she looked up - to see a white knight on a horse to slay the dragon! Wow, what were the odds? She stared in shock, losing the strength in her legs, as the dragon began to face its opponent.

Mickey called out as he faced the dragon, swiping his sword threateningly, "Hey pal, why don't ya go and pick on somebody who can fight back?!"

The dragon roared as Mickey taunted him away from the young maiden making the dragon follow him away from her as he swung his sword to and through in the air around the muzzle of the dragon. It snapped on him and threatened to burn his little mouse body. But he didn't give up. He leaped here and there dodging what he could as he fought the beast.

Minnie sat down on the ground in shock, too afraid to move. She had no idea who this man was, but he didn't seem afraid at all! Maybe he really could defeat the dragon! Her heart raced to watch him fight... He was so strong, and confident, and brave!

And very good looking, can't forget that.

"Oh my..." She breathed, wishing she could help but unable to do more than just watch in awe.

Mickey managed to evade the dragon. Right when it seemed like Dragon lost sight of the mouse prince, Mickey came down wwitching it with his sword with thwap on it's butt. It gave out a cry of frustration and chased him off, unfortunately that was exactly what the Prince planned. As he lured the dragon over the cliff with a swing of the tree branch. The dragon's eyes went wide as it looked down, realizing it's tiny little wings couldn't hold him up long as it plummeted in the water with a loud splash.

Landing on the ground Mickey he sheathed his sword in a triumphant "AHA!" grinning wide as he put his hands on his hips, "That outta teach ya!"

Turning around as Mickey saw the damsel that was in distress, "You ok miss?"

What strength! What speed! What cleverness! This was no mere knight. Minnie fumbled to her feet, allowing her kitten to jump out of her hands and sit at her feet. Minnie tried to grab the tufts of her tattered dress to curtsy. "I... I owe you my life!"

She lowered her head and her eyes. "How can I ever repay you?"

Turning around, seeing the sweet girl curtsy. Mickey rubbed the back of his neck. "Aw gosh, ya don't have ta do that."

Bowing as he gave a warm smile, "Saving a pretty gal like you is worth the trouble!"

She blushed, continuing to shyly hide her eyes away as best she could. "Oh, my..."

She swallowed, trying to get over her nervousness. "My name is Minnie Mouse... Can I at least know who you are, Sir Knight?"

Mickey rubbed the back of his neck, "O-Oh I..."

Gee, this is the first time in a while someone like her didn't recognize him. Mickey took in a breath, perhaps this is a chance to get to know someone without all the formalities. "Oh I-I'm just M... Mick... Michael Mouse, haha. J-Just a regular joe, no one high up or nothin'!"

You can practically hear the dragon rolling it's eyes and snort of breath from below. Mickey bowed none-the-less taking her hand to kiss on top of it. "The pleasure is all mine."

Ah yes, the best way to start out a relationship - a big fat lie.

Minnie giggled as her hand was kissed. "It's an honor to meet you, Sir Michael... but I don't think anyone regular could take down a dragon! You didn't just save my life, you saved my darling Figaro too. So that's twice I owe you!"

Figaro was pretty appreciative too, rubbing against Mickey's leg and purring.

This will not in anyway go wrong, whatsoever.

Mickey let go as he stood up with a smile toward her. He chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck, "Aw well..."

Bends down a bit to pet Figaro, "I'm just happy to help someone out and... well," gives a warm smile toward her, "Maybe make a friend too."

Minnie couldn't stop smiling, but she knew this happy moment couldn't last forever. She walked forward to pick up her pet. "We should probably return to the village, before another one of those dragons comes... just the thought of seeing one again scares me so much!"

So it would be really nice if she had a big strong man to escort her home, hint hint, flutter of eyelashes.

Oh Mickey picked up on that as he gave a bright smile. Holding out his arm for her to take. "Don't worry, I can lead a pretty gal like you back safe and sound. With me around, I won't let anyone hurt ya."

Minnie happily took his arm, giving it a good squeeze and walking with him. "I do feel a lot safer now...I promise, I don't live too far away. It's just me and my kitten, making our ends meet in our little house..." A small sigh.

Taking her by the arm as he strolls with her, warmly smiles with her, "So it'll be just us then, well I promise to keep you company til you are lonely no more my lady."

Minnie giggled again. "How long have you been a knight? It must be a really exciting kind of life!"

Mickey cleared his throat, "Ohaha, n-not that long actually. But nevermind me, let's talk about you! How long have you lived out here?"

[princesswhatshername]

Minnie blinked, wondering why he wasn't bragging about his amazing knighthood. "Huh? ... Oh, well, all my life, really. My parents died when I was very young, so it's just been me and Figaro... I'm a seamstress. It doesn't make much, but I love helping people with their clothes."

She smiled fondly. "The look on a grandmother when she picks up the dress she wore when she met her husband... The laughter of children, ready to play in their new clothes..."

"Oh..."

Mickey held her hands as he looked softly into her eyes, "You deserve every bit of that kindness back Minnie... I'd be glad to be your friend, maybe I can help you with helping others."

Minnie felt her face flush, and she ducked her eyes, overwhelmed. "I... I'd like that a whole lot! Maybe you can introduce me to all of your other brave knight friends."

Mickey frowned as he rubbed the back of his neck, gee he didn't have that many friends back home. Most of them were just servants and others in charge who told him what he had to do as a prince. "Gee I... I-I don't have many friends..."

[princesswhatshername]

Minnie was surprised once more. "Really? But you're so nice, and so brave..."

Yet this admission wound up making her smile. "Well, I'm alone, and you're alone, but now we're not alone! It almost makes me want to thank that dragon."

Not help but giggling, Mickey held her hand close as he gazed down toward her. "Aw... Well I think I'm starting to like being alone this time if it's something share it with like you~"

Minnie squeezed his hand - they were never going to get home at this rate, and she didn't mind. "Heeheehee! You make it sound like a great thing... I hope you'll come see me again... and not just to rescue me!"

They seriously will take all day flirting. The eternal will they, won't they. Gives a warm smile as he lifted to kiss the top of her hand, "For you, aw... I'd come just to see your sweet face again!"
