princesswhatshername: (But If I Know You)

No one had ever seen the royal family, not unless they were super important, super rich, or some combination of the two. Minnie was neither - when it came to the social ladder, she wasn't just the bottom rung, she was probably below the ground holding it up. But she never complained - she was content with her life, and didn't crave anything more... except maybe a nice boy to spend it with, but beggars can't be choosers. Nice boys were hard to find nowadays. Most in the village were rough with roaming eyes, and Minnie couldn't see herself spending time with any of them.

Besides, there were bigger things to worry about these days. Word was that outside the kingdom, dragons had been spotted! What if they invaded the kingdom? Then again, no one in the village had ever seen a dragon... or faeries, or sprites, or nymphs, or anything else magical. So when Minnie's cat had run off into the woods, she didn't fear any of these things, trying to find her little baby before it got away too far.

"Figaro!" She called out, trying to find her beloved kitty-cat. "Figaro, you naughty boy, where are you?"

The good news is that she found her cat.

The bad news is that she also found the dragon. A scream of fear echoed throughout the forest...

Mickey hadn't exactly planned on finding anyone, or even anything, in the realm of darkness. So finding the boy with Riku's face had been a rather great shock - especially considering that, as far as Jiminy's notes went, this boy was supposed to have vanished. It was beyond bizarre, but he couldn't just leave the clone there.

With an 'oof' and a grunt, Mickey had managed to carry the boy all the way back to his kingdom - the castle was large enough to house many guest rooms. He had given instructions to all the servants not to enter unless given direct permission, lest they overwhelm him. Besides, Mickey had his own questions.

So he patiently waited for the 'other' Riku to wake up, setting up a tray of food and tea. No doubt near destruction would cause quite the appetite.

Young prince Mickey tended to ditch his lessons for silly reasons - the weather was nice, or he saw a dog outside, or the lessons were too boring for him to handle. On some level he knew he needed to start paying more attention to those lessons since he was the sole heir to the throne. Those responsibilities felt like burdens he could not handle, and often the thought of the future made it hard to breathe. Some days he escaped his lessons just to escape the choke-hold of reality.

Today he ran from his lessons for an entirely different reason - a cute girl in a white skirt.

Mickey was unusually kind to most of the servants, often treating them like equals, but the first time he saw that one girl - the world took on a new light. In turn, he wanted her to see the best of him. He didn't want her to admire her simply because of his blood - no, he wanted to impress her.

The plan seemed very simple at first - her schedule dictated she'd pass by the armory just after lunch, and that's where he'd be with the door wide open. He'd be swinging a large, intimidating sword as if it was nothing, and then oh so casually pretend to notice her, while she was no doubt swooning over this display of manliness.

So there he was in the armory, and there he was picking up the biggest, most daunting sword he could find... except 'picking up' was too generous a word. He couldn't lift it. At all. He was grunting and groaning and sweating, teeth clenched as he tried to pick up the blade that was three times his size and four times as heavy.
