he was a sk8ter boi she said see you later boy (scrooge x magica)
If Magica's older brother had actually been on time to pick her up from school for once, she would have been stunned. With the building almost completely empty at this hour, Magica continued playing on her phone, sitting on a bench outside. She could have easily waited for a bus or called a cab, but truth be told she was in no rush to get home. She hated her home. She hated her family. There was very little she didn't hate.
Still, it was getting a little chilly, and at this rate her phone would soon be dead. She sighed, contemplating calling Poe, but knowing it'd make little difference. He'd get there... eventually, if he didn't have another DUI wreckage on the way there.
She shook her head, trying to dispel her thoughts and concentrate on the phone, keeping up to date on the latest trends and fashions, like a good De Spell was supposed to. As such, she was oblivious to any company that was heading her way.

The principal continued to read off his cards. "So, I'd like us all to give a big thank you and round of applause to our benefactor..." he trailed off, blinking wildly. Was this right? He squinted, rubbed his glasses, checked again. The name was still there.
"... S... Scrooge... McDuck?"
The entire old class went silent.
For about five seconds.
It was the "WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!" heard 'round the world.

He reveled in their shock. Oh, he was so glad this was being video recorded! To be able to pause and just memorize every one of these pompous assholes' utter disbelief was the best gift he could've given himself.
"First of all, I want to apologize for missing the previous reunions. I was a bit busy and couldn't spare the time. To make up for it, I offered the services of one of my best hotels in Duckburg including full catering and open bar at no expense to you all! I'm glad to see so many of you are enjoying yourselves!"
He saw one of them swallow thickly.

Speaking of bullies... Magica was also in awe. But unlike the others, she wasn't fretting in horror. Instead, she was one of the incredibly few people smiling at this news - even fewer that hers was genuine. He'd really done it! He'd always gone on about how he'd make something of himself... and he'd really succeeded. More than that, really.
She was genuinely happy for him. He deserved the win, for she didn't doubt for a second he'd earned every penny.

"Excuse me a moment." He retrieved his cellphone, flipping it open to read the message. His grin broadened. "I was hoping I'd be able to announce this as well tonight. Looks like I get my wish! The acquisition of Biomia Medical Electronics raised the stock price of McDuck Enterprises enough to make it official: I'm now the richest duck in the world!"
Those last eight words earned largely silence except for a peal of cheers from people who had been in the poorer set during school. To see someone at the very bottom make it to the very top of the ladder? It was like karma was finally smiling on them.
"So I invite everyone to please eat and drink your fill! Enjoy yourselves! You've the entire weekend to recover!" There were chuckles both extremely pleased and somewhat desperate. "Oh, and, Frank. Excuse me, Franklin..." Scrooge's gaze fell on one man who looked like he was seconds from fainting, the man in his youth typically hating being called by a nickname. "...I'll see you in my office on Monday!"
With that, Scrooge picked up a glass of champagne from a rather smug-looking server. He raised it up.
"Salud!" he toasted before downing his glass, setting it back on the tray, and walking back to his earlier seat, laughing.

Magica inhaled deeply, then once more tried to head for Scrooge. While everyone else was trying to make a decision, she'd made up her mind even before his big announcement.
"Scrooge?"
no subject
'She's likely married by now. Probably had a few kids. Barely holding her looks together with makeup and plastic surgery.'
He turned around and had his mental image of her shattered, burned, and then spread to the four winds.
Gods, she looked even more gorgeous now...!
"...Magica De Spell."
no subject
She offered a hand, her own covered in lacy gloves. "Congratulations. I think you became a celebrity, idol, hero, and folk legend all in one fell swoop."
no subject
"Yes, well, I've developed a bit of a flare for the dramatic." He gave a tight smile, desperately reigning in the besotted-yet-heartbroken teen he'd once been. "I'm afraid I've been too busy to keep up with everyone. What have you been up to all these years?"
no subject
"Nothing as terribly exciting as you've been, I'd imagine... but I have managed to crawl out from the De Spell Department shadows. I'm actually the head of Amelia Publishing now." A high and rising company for sure, but definitely nowhere near any of Scrooge's ranks.
She began to pull her hand away, albeit reluctantly. "... I owe you an apology."
no subject
The mention of an apology made his brain snap back to that horrible attempt at asking her out.
"What for?" he asked, somehow managing to keep his voice light.
no subject
"We both know I was no angel. I earned my Queen Bitch title... I could give you all kinds of reasons why I did it, but that doesn't make them right. Especially the way I handled our... last encounter."
That rejection had been the last time either one spoke to the other, for good reason.
"I really am sorry, Scrooge."
no subject
He gave a huff. "Ironically, I should be thanking you for a little extra motivation to pull my family out of a very deep hole. But I suppose apology is accepted."
And now that she'd apologized...what? What was her gameplan now?
no subject
"Being the richest duck in the world must mean you're plenty busy. But... I don't suppose you have any evenings free in the nearby future?"
no subject
Scrooge felt anger boiling over but he managed instead a smooth, poisonous smile. "Oh, I'm finally rich enough not to be considered 'slumming it' anymore? I'm honored."
no subject
"I... I didn't mean... I just... It doesn't have to be anything like that, we could just... talk..."
Now she could feel eyes staring at her, and knew the whispers that came with them.
There goes the Queen Bitch, throwing herself at the richest person in the room as always. Just like a well-trained hooker. Some things never change.
No, no, no, it wasn't like that...! She could feel her lungs closing up.
no subject
He ignored how his own heart had broken anew. It wasn't the first time she'd broken it, and it had been broken many, many times on his journey to becoming the richest duck in the world, but somehow Magica doing so hurt all the worse.
However...something seemed...off. "What's wrong?"
no subject
She stumbled, and tried to find the way out, suddenly feeling trapped, cramped, dizzy.
no subject
On instinct, he reached out to steady her, moving her towards a chair. He turned his head, shouting into the confused masses, "Someone, get me some water!"
Maybe it was a ploy and maybe it wasn't. Regardless, he reached out to press his fingers into her neck, feeling for her pulse.
no subject
In a weird way, it momentarily did the trick - if her startled 'eee!' was any indication, she was also ticklish there - as it jostled her out of her dizziness, her face flushing with embarrassment. "W-what are you doing!" Sure, she'd always wanted him to touch her there, but not exactly like this.
As for the water, it became a mad rush to see who'd get it first - the first favor done for the world's richest duck!
no subject
Gods, these ninnies. The lot of them.
One of the servers came over with a bottle of water.
"Thank you." He twisted open the cap and held out the bottle to her. "Drink this. Slowly."
no subject
"... Thank you." She mumbled once she got a good dose in her, still embarrassed. "I-I'm fine, I swear, I just... I have no reason to stay here anymore, I guess."
no subject
He doubted Magica had ever gotten her license. Why would she?
Still...He put his hand on the side of her face, frowning.
"Not cold and clammy. Pupils are normal..." he murmured half to himself.
"You got a medical degree in all this?" one of their former classmates asked.
"No, but I worked first aid and rescue in the Andes for a year," he said distractedly. To Magica, he asked, "You're not pregnant, are you?"
Someone choked. It was a blunt question, but Scrooge felt it necessary. He'd once treated someone who hadn't realized she'd been pregnant. What had started as a dizzy spell had turned into him playing midwife while the other rescue worker ran for a doctor.
no subject
And then he had the audacity to ask that question! She was so overwhelmed by everything that had happened in less than five minutes that she couldn't control her mouth anymore.
"O-O-Of course not! I haven't had sex in at least five years!"
no subject
Scrooge simply nodded as if she'd just told him that the sky was blue. "All right. We're going to try standing up and going outside to get you some fresh air. See if that brings you back around. Otherwise I'm going to insist on calling an ambulance."
She might've hit her head earlier in the day and it was only now affecting her. He'd experienced that one before first-hand.
no subject
"I'm telling you I'm fine... but if it'll make you feel better... let's go." An old hint of the Queen Bitch to get things moving.
Whispers, naturally, evolved. Obviously she was faking, to try and get into the rich man's goods! How pathetic.
