 If Magica's older brother had actually been on time to pick her up from school for once, she would have been stunned. With the building almost completely empty at this hour, Magica continued playing on her phone, sitting on a bench outside. She could have easily waited for a bus or called a cab, but truth be told she was in no rush to get home. She hated her home. She hated her family. There was very little she didn't hate.

Still, it was getting a little chilly, and at this rate her phone would soon be dead. She sighed, contemplating calling Poe, but knowing it'd make little difference. He'd get there... eventually, if he didn't have another DUI wreckage on the way there.

She shook her head, trying to dispel her thoughts and concentrate on the phone, keeping up to date on the latest trends and fashions, like a good De Spell was supposed to. As such, she was oblivious to any company that was heading her way.

Apparently when you crush a little boy's dreams, it took some time to build up enough self-confidence for him to think you actually do like him. Go figure.

He gave an awkward little smile. "I'm glad you're enjoying yourself."

"Aren't you?" She glanced over at him, wanting to make sure.

"My driver attempting to kill me via embarrassment aside, yes," Scrooge admitted. "Even despite your brother's rude intrusion."

"Actually, I wouldn't mind seeing you rip him apart again." She'd be replaying that moment in her mind for a long time.

"Enjoyed it, did you?" he teased.

[lifesa_witch]

"Understatement of the century." She purred, closing her eyes.

He blushed at the purr, feathers fluffing up a bit. Oh, he liked that sound.

"We-well, he had no right to talk to you like that," he defended himself.

If only this car ride would never end!

"True, but it's nice to hear someone else say it for once."

"Who wouldn't? He was completely out of line."

Particularly given that comment about her hospital stay, likely the result of what she'd done to her wrists.

"Honestly, I was tempted to do worse than threaten him."

Magica opened her eyes, pupils glittering with greed. "Oh? Like what~?"

"I'd half-hoped he'd try to grab you again for the excuse to show him who can be the bigger bully," Scrooge said somewhat crossly.

She knew how heavy his cane was and what kind of damage he could've done with it.

Now she was half-hoping the same. Unf.

"I bet you'd really give him what-for." Magica traced a circle on his chest, almost in his lap.

"He's certainly no Captain Peghook," Scrooge drawled. "He'd probably have his own hospital stay."

"Is that a story you're willing to share?" She hugged his arm, hoping to get a few more details out of him.

[richestduck]

"Another time perhaps." He nodded ahead of them. "Right now we're approaching your front gate."

Of course. She sighed, disappointed, and untangled herself from him. "Thanks for the ride back home."

[richestduck]

"You're very welcome."

The car drove through the gate and drove up to her house. Launchpad hopped out to open the door for her.

Scrooge gently took her hand in his and kissed the back of it. "Thank you for a lovely evening."

Magica bit her lip , and then took the dare. She leaned in to kiss his cheek, before quickly turning away, tossing her hair over her shoulder.

"See you soon, Scrooge." And walked as fast as her high-heels would take her before her face would blush.

She wasn't the only one blushing, Scrooge turning such a bright shade of crimson that a stop sign would've been jealous.

Launchpad got back in the limo. "Looks like your date went great!"

Scrooge moaned and sank down in his seat. "Just get me back to the hotel..."

Once Magica was inside... she practically danced! What a fantastic, wonderful, perfect night! She almost couldn't ask for anything more!

She flounced to bed, finding it difficult to sleep, thinking her smile would take days to wear off. First thing in the morning, she reminded herself, is that she'd have to e-mail him her schedules so they could arrange another beautiful night.

Scrooge pretty much crashed as soon as he got back to the hotel room, almost falling asleep in the bath. Ugh, it'd be nice when his new home was built so he could have everything precisely to his liking...

...Of course the next morning, he woke up with a slight twinge of a headache and the nagging feeling he'd done something ridiculous the night before. He remembered the business meeting and then dessert came and --

"Oh, gods..."

Oh, what a beautiful morning, oh, what a beautiful day!

Magica was practically humming as she went to work, sending Scrooge a "professional" e-mail of her schedule. A few of her employees and clients were startled by how happy Magica was, and not even in a "basking in my rivals misery" sort of happiness. This was brand new, and they weren't sure what to make of it.

Scrooge got her schedule and turned bright red.

Oh gods. Oh gods, what now? She was never going to let him live it down...!

Now, to wait for his response! Magica was sure he'd get to it soon, since he had just a good time as she did. In the meantime, there was plenty to do!

Like, praising her secretary for all her hard work! And offering to show a new client around town! And giving the terrified janitor a big hug!

He checked his phone. No time to call her now.

Instead, he wrote an email with his own schedule. The least he could do considering they were supposed to be discussing the partnership between their two publishing companies/wings.

He also asked if it would be all right to call her at lunch if she wasn't busy. Maybe that way she could get all the mockery over with.
