 If Magica's older brother had actually been on time to pick her up from school for once, she would have been stunned. With the building almost completely empty at this hour, Magica continued playing on her phone, sitting on a bench outside. She could have easily waited for a bus or called a cab, but truth be told she was in no rush to get home. She hated her home. She hated her family. There was very little she didn't hate.

Still, it was getting a little chilly, and at this rate her phone would soon be dead. She sighed, contemplating calling Poe, but knowing it'd make little difference. He'd get there... eventually, if he didn't have another DUI wreckage on the way there.

She shook her head, trying to dispel her thoughts and concentrate on the phone, keeping up to date on the latest trends and fashions, like a good De Spell was supposed to. As such, she was oblivious to any company that was heading her way.

"They're great. Mummy and Daddy have been enjoying retirement. Hortense and Matilda work part-time for me even though they don't have to. The castle's in great shape, too."

"That's good to hear." And she meant it, smiling. "I'm not surprised to hear about your sisters... they'd be bored out of their minds with nothing to do."

"Well, Hortense wouldn't be as bored as you'd think." He gave her a grin. "Believe it or not, she's got herself a suitor!"

Now there was a surprise! "Who on earth could handle-" She then cut herself off, wincing. That... had sounded worse than she intended.

"Uh... I mean..."

Scrooge laughed. "No, no, you've got the right question: Who on earth could handle Hortense? Apparently a lad by the name of Quackmore Duck thinks he can!"

Magica exhaled deeply in relief. That had been a close one. "... 'Thinks' he can?" She repeated. "How does Hortense feel about him?"

"She claims that she can't stand him, but she's always so happy every time they do battle. And it is a battle. Quackmore's got a temper that's a match for hers."

"So, one of those types of relationships." Magica mused. She supposed no other type of man would do for Hortense. "May the gods have mercy on them both."

A little chuckle. "And Matilda's not found anyone to her fancy? She always was a pretty one, even in high school."

[richestduck]

"If they do end up together and have children, I'll be praying for their children. Hortense can more than handle herself."

In response to the second question, he sadly shook his head. "Her reputation hasn't been the best since high school. I think she's pretty much resigned herself to spinsterhood."

Magica frowned, truly disappointed. "That's a shame... she was always such a sweetheart. She deserved nothing but the best."

Even Magica herself had tried to get rid of those ugly rumors when a jock had slandered Matilda in an attempt to recover his ego after being rejected.

"You won't hear any arguments from me," Scrooge said.

Daisuke came with their food, setting their bowls down in front of them before removing chopsticks and spoons from his apron for each of them. He then set down a fork next to Magica just in case before moving away.

Magica thanked him once more, and broke the chopsticks apart as one does, before taking her first light dip. Her eyes popped - it was spicy... which was just the way she liked it. She always enjoyed her food to the extremes - nearly burnt to charcoal, chocolate as dark as night, and of course, spiciness that could burn tongues.

"Mmm~!" She licked her lips.
