"Sweet dreams, Utau."

She snapped her fingers, and Eek and Squeak moved to grab the blanket and gently cover the girl up to her neck.

She gave a rude snort, but said nothing to that. The small Angel thanked Eek and Squeak, then started tidying up. Or well, trying to. She was a well meaning klutz. The Devil one slid into her egg on Utau's pillow.

Unless something interrupted her, Utau would sleep through the night, blanket pulled over her head soon after she fell asleep. She stayed cocooned in the blanket the whole time she slept.

The following morning, Utau would find a plate of food on a desk drawer next to the bed. Morgana was used to small, simple meals due to a small, simple budget - but she also didn't know how much humans needed to eat. So she might have gone a bit... overboard.

Toast, sunny-side up eggs, (the next things were actually bought, shockingly) muffin, croissant, orange slices, and tiny sausages. Beside it was a fork and a tall glass of milk.

If Utau wished to wander, she'd eventually find Morgana in the broken seats of the theater, writing in a ripped notebook, occasionally tapping a pencil to her beak. She was working on lyrics.

"Underneath the candelight? ... nah, nah. Underneath the moonlight..."

Utau was glad enough to be alone with her Charas when she woke, still hurt. Still refusing to show it. Between her and the Charas, they finished everything. Finally she wandered out, looking ticked. Because she had long since learned that icy coldness and snappish anger were the best ways to hide pain.

"That hardly sounds like a spell to send me back," she said as she strode down the aisle.

"I'm taking a break. We musicians have those, on occasion."

She rolled her shoulders and looked up at Utau, sizing her up. "Did you sleep well? And how was breakfast? I wasn't sure if humans can eat the same stuff we can."

[utauhoshina]

"Breakfast was fine. And I thought your breaks were..." she stopped herself and shook her head. "Never mind. I'm going out to get some air and explore. Don't wait up." She headed for the exit.

"What? Wait, no no no no no."

Scrambling, she ditched the notebook and tried to go after Utau as fast as her boots could take her.

"Air is fine, but not alone! I need to keep an eye on you!"

[utauhoshina]

"Don't worry," she said, tossing hair back as she kept walking. "You wanted my evil side? Well, I'll be doing something you'll approve of then."

Then she finally stopped and tossed a smirk over her shoulder as small black bat wings appeared on her back. "That kid in the pictures... what was her name again?"

Morgana narrowed her eyes, not liking where this was going.

"Why should I be telling you? What are you planning? I'm responsible for you, I can't just let you go off and do whatever! I'm, like, your chaperone!"

She spun to face her, hands on her hips. "You seemed to understand plotting and planning. Surely you can see what my plan must be?" she arched a brow. "And why you can't let any of the heroic sort connect us. At all. So give me her name and start practicing your tearful speeches in the mirror. You wanted me for my evil only? Well here she is," she snapped.

"Absolutely not!" She formed an X with her arms. "I'm trying to keep my villain life and my friend life separate! Gosalyn is just a kid, she doesn't need to get involved with this any more than she already is! If it was up to me, she wouldn't be tagging around Darkwing Duck's side at all! You're totally twisting my words just so you can do whatever you want! You're staying right here, young lady!"

A pause, and then she rubs her temples. "Aw, caskets, now I'm starting to feel like my dad."

That last line moved her from exasperation into annoyance. Hello parent issues.

"I can't believe I have to spell this out for you. Look, I establish myself as a villain with no connection to you. I get Gosalyn was it...? Gosalyn in my clutches. You time it out to come to the rescue right as your boy toy does. Help him against me, but right at the pivotal moment you give the big sappy change your ways speech. All the reasons I shouldn't choose evil, have the big dramatic realization as you go that this is clearly you talking to yourself. This will be your biggest acting gig ever. Get him all soft and droopy at the thought you could be saved too. Then I 'flip' when you are convincing, you are the one to save her from me, and then offer to guide me and we'll find the way to goodness together. Then look at him with those pleading eyes, ask if he'll help.... Then comes the hard part. You actually have to switch sides. But whatever your reason for being evil, whoever you're trying to save... again hero types are suckers for that." She crossed her arms again. "He'll fall all over himself to help dig you out of that hole." She knew.

"Is all that blonde hair blocking your ears? I. SAID. NO. I do NOT involve kids in my plans! That is the one place I won't go, no matter what! No getting, no clutches, NONE OF THAT! And I don't want you speaking a word of this insane idea to the others!"

Because unlike her, the rest of the band didn't have morals or limits. They'd be totally fine with kidnapping children or even hurting them if it meant they got moolah in the end.

"I wasn't going to speak it to them," she said with a shrug, eyes narrowed. "But involving kids is exactly what I do. You don't want to be part of this plan, fine, I'll twist it to do what I need it to do for me instead. You can stay here and take your break and not be concerned with it." She turned to leave again.

Not on her watch!

She instantly wrapped her arms around Utau and held her close, not letting her go. "Hey! Where are your weird... floaty not-really-guardian-angel-things?" The Chara, she meant the Chara. So she called out for them. "Get your tiny butts out here and do something useful!"

"They are being useful," she said, going completely still other than speaking and shallow breaths. "They are scouting. Release me." Her voice had gone completely monotone.

"Not until I can trust you not to run off and make things worse." But, uh... how long would that be? She couldn't exactly stay like this all day!

"Come on." She then scooped up Utau, carrying her bridal-style to the stage. "Let's jam. We could both use that to calm down."

[utauhoshina]

"Ugh! Do I look like Amu? Put me down this instant, because you are sure not Ikuto!" she snapped.

Nope, still not putting her down. She then clicked her tongue, signaling to her familiar to set things up.

Eek propped up the standing microphone, Squeak managed to move the dusty, slightly broken spotlight, and Archie used their webbing to connect the frayed wires to the speaker.

She made it to the stage, only stopping in front of the mike. "Take a breath. Take a few. Then start humming."

"You are not my boss," she said, flatly. Thought he allure of the microphone was as strong as ever. She was fighting to keep her stubbornness in place.

Morgana smirked - she could see the resistance falling. A true musician - rather, a true diva - couldn't hold back the urge to perform when it was literally right in front of them.

To help it along, she began to hum a few notes, and her creatures followed suit - Archie tapping on the stage, Eek clapping their wings, and Squeak using a broken, creaky seat to help add to the rhythm.

Her eye twitched. "Set me down, I can hardly dance like this," she snapped.

Morgana slowly began to set her down and release her, but she did put out a warning.

"If you run away, my bats WILL head right for your hair, and that won't be fun for anyone to untangle."

[utauhoshina]

"They'd hate it more than I would," she snapped back, trusting her Charas to do what she sent them to do.

Well... trusting Il. El, she suspected, would get herself lost.

Morgana rolled her eyes - Utau could have lied and said "yep, I'll definitely stay put." Kid wasn't as bad as she wanted to pretend she was.

So while Utau was at least on solid ground again, Morgana kept her hands on her shoulders - not firm, but also letting her not bolt if the opportunity arose.

"The microphone's calling to you. You really gunna ignore it?"
