Two Darkwing Duck Adventures for the Post of One!

[For Morgana]

[Drake's quest to find answers about the missing Professor Waddlemeyer was full of dead ends. He had made no progress, and he felt bad about the effect that had on Gosalyn. She was still her normal chipper self most of the time, but he had learned to see the cracks in that. And he wanted to do everything he could to help her feel better until he could reunite her with her real family.

These days, it seems the thing she got most excited for was a band. To Drake's relief, it's not like other music of the youths which register just as noise for him. This actually sounds like the kind of thing he'd listen to in high school! And the singing is just great... but this is about Gosalyn! In a spot of bad timing, Gosalyn's fallen sick while the band's has come to St. Canard for a concert. And so Drake's claimed to be out for a night of quiet patrolling while Launchpad tends to the sick kid, but in actuality he's doing something as Drake Mallard. If she can't attend the concert, maybe he can at least get an autograph for her or something. Maybe that will raise her spirits!

And so, Drake Mallard sneaks around backstage at the concert, for any sign of mysterious melodist...]

[For Della]

[It was a long night of fighting crime in Avalon for one Darkwing Duck. Some sort of magical monsters were on the loose, and he didn't get out of it without a comical number of bruises on his head. He was also left somewhat disoriented...

So when he slinked back home in the wee hours of the morning and tried to clamber into his bedroom through the window, he did not realize that he was going through the completely wrong window, into the room of the one person who didn't yet know his secret!]

[She's circling him so elegantly. She has such a strong stage presence, it makes his heart sink even louder! ... Even if it makes it dizzying to try to keep his eyes on her.

He weighs her words and is ready to say some words of welcome as a resident of Saint Canard, but then all thoughts in his head empty out when she mentions that particularly good-looking rumor.]

Y-you mean the one and only Darkwing Duck?! He... He's not just a rumor and handsome, he's real! The real deal! [He almost blurted out his identity right there, but the last shreds of reason within him hokd him back.

He feels both flattered and jealous. Darkwing is handsome, but what about Drake?]

And he's... very wise. Full of words of wisdom, that guy. If I came across him, I know I'd take any suggestions he had for me to heart. And he's only hard on people who are really bad, you know. [He pauses and waggles his hand in the air.] I don't know if he's really that handsome though...

[ On the one hand, "If" he came across him sounds like Drake hasn't met him - on the other, he seems very sure that Darkwing isn't that good-looking. Though that could be jealousy creeping in - which, again, gives Morgana a pang of guilt. It is kind of a jerk move to praise a guy she's interested in, in front of a guy who's interested in her... who she's also interested in... Uhhh...

Okay, now she's getting a little dizzy. This wasn't the best plan. ]

Well, like I said, I've only heard the rumors... I don't expect him to crash any shows of mine anytime soon. Though if I do see him, I'll be sure to tell him he's apparently got a fan... even if that fan doesn't think he's really that handsome.

[ But once again, the urge to tease just can't be tamed, as she leans in, smirking all the while. ]

Though I have to say, I don't like sharing my fans with anyone else.

[It's quite difficult and confusing to compete with one's own self, especially as Drake's first instincts are to defend himself and attest that he is in fact very handsome! She is also conveniently leaving out that she has met Darkwing... but then, he's not expecting her to straight-up confess to her crimes like this.

As she leans in closer and says that to him, he gives a nervous gulp and smiles sheepishly while he tries to look her in the eyes.]

M-my, my! It's okay, it's... very doable to be fans of more than one figure, Miss Macawber. [At the same time, he can't forget the sight of her other fans bringing her their valuables in the dead of the night.] It sounds like you... really care for your fans...

[ And, again, ow. Her face falling, she pulls back away uncomfortably. It's not his fault, he doesn't know she's a criminal - which is all the more reason he shouldn't get to know her. They were just setting themselves up for disappointment. ]

Yes, well... I've been told that it's a weakness of mine...

[ The good side of her knows that stealing from people who actively rooted for her and enjoyed her music is awful. But the bad side of her retorts that as her fans, they should do anything she wants!

With a sigh, she walks a bit away, heading for the lone piano bench. ]

It'd probably be better if I wasn't so close to them. That way, nobody gets hurt.

[Oh. Now he feels bad, like he's given her a low blow. He wants her to stop her criminal ways, but seeing her sad is just so gut-wrenching.]

Hey hey hey! [Drake follows her, coming up closer to try to pat her on the shoulder.]

It's okay. I'm sure whatever's wrong is something you can work on. But shutting yourself away isn't the answer! I'm sure there's other ways to make sure no one gets hurt, and everyone is happy.

[ She glances over at him, and gives a small little smile in return. She reaches over to the hand on her shoulder, giving it a comfortable squeeze. ]

Thank you... You're very sweet.

[ And wayyy too trusting. But she supposes that's part of his charm. She kind of hopes the world is never cruel enough to snuff that out of him.

As for herself? Let's bottle down those useless feelings of guilt and sadness and hope that never uncorks! Everything is fine! And if he's going to be so very trusting, it's his own fault for being lured into a fun little trap, mmm?

She takes his hand off her shoulder, but doesn't let it go. ]

All these lovely words, advice, a shoulder to cry on... you're giving me so much, yet all I've done is give you an autograph. Seems a bit uneven. If you'd like, I can do a bit of fortune telling - palm readings come very easy to me.

[ danger, danger, drake mallard! ]

[And his cheek-feathers glow red as she squeezes his hand! It's hard to imagine that a hand so warm, so lovely, was executing orders of evil just the night before. This has to be just some spell he has to break her out of! Maybe he can win her over.

And then his heart beats quicker at her suggestion. A reading? Of his own palm? Even more hand contact??]

W-well, I... I'm doing what's right! You don't have to feel like you owe me anything. I just like being here for you. And you know? I just had a fortune cookie the other night, so I think I got my lucky numbers!

[He jokes with a small chuckle, but he still is tantalized by the offer.]

B-but hey! If you really wanna go for it, I... won't stop you. My hand is open for you! [He tugs at his collar nervously.]

How kind of you to take up my offer.

[ With a cat-eating-the-canary grin, Morgana leads him to the piano bench so they can both sit down. ]

Now, let me see here... the destiny of one Drake Mallard.

[ Brace yourself, sir, because she's gunna hold his (probably now very sweaty) palm with both hands. She spreads her thumbs across his hand, and then very

very

s-l-o-w-l-y

drags her fingernail over the lines in his hand. All the while she makes "hm" noises, as if she's actually studying something and not just deliberately messing with him. Listen, you put a delicious meal in front of a starving patron, they're gunna eat. ]

Your life line is very strong, I can see that right off the bat... you'll live a long, healthy life with the occasional bump in the road. Your money line says you'll be quite prosperous, so long as you follow the path you believe in. Your head line shows you'll grow wiser with every year, even if it's hard to tell, and... Oh, my my my.

[ She pauses, putting on a surprised air as she very softly rubs back and forth in one area. ]

Your love line... hmmm...?

[Oh god, it's happening. He does look like he takes a moment to wipe his hand on his his shirt before he sits down and holds it out to her! Now it's time to feel the warmth of both her hands as she gets to work... on his own hand! This feels scandalous.]

Ooh, that tickles. [He mumbles that reflexively once she starts tracing her fingernail across his hand. His eyes widen with interest as he listens to the fortune! It sounds all good so far. Long, healthy? Good wealth? Good, he knew Darkwing Duck was a cash cow! And that he has infinite wisdom!

But that last part makes him freeze up with worry.]

Wh-what is it? Is it something wrong?

Hmmm. This is interesting... Very interesting indeed...

[ Sheesh, this guy was easier to read than an open book. It almost makes her feel bad. Almost. After all, she hasn't had this much fun... well, it's rude to ask a lady her age.

Keeping the act going, she raises his hand up for a closer inspection, tracing the same line back and forth, back and forth. ]

I think there may be a girl...

[Oh boy. He leans forward anxiously.]

R-really?! What's she like? Is she does she return my feelings? My calls??

[It's hard to even feel shy about her finger continuing to trace like along her palm now that he's worried about his future prospects!]

[ She smirks, and then begins to hum softly as she strokes him. There's no magic to this music - there are lines even Morgana won't cross. Sure, she'll use her spells to make people fork over cash, but making anyone feel something with magic, be it love for her music or love for herself? Absolutely not. ]

There you see her,
Sitting there across the way.
She doesn't have a lot to say,
But there's something about her.
And you don't know why,
But you're dying to try,
You wanna...

[ She lifts her eyes from his hand, now choosing to gaze quite deeply into his own eyes. ]

...Kiss the girl~

[No magic to the music? That's strange, her voice seems magical to Drake. His worries quickly fade, but he remains leaned up close to her while he feels his heart beat in rhythm with her words.]

I... I do... [He says, looking into her eyes while his cheek feathers glow red. His beak has drifted closer to hers.]

Shalalalalala... me oh my! [He exclaims softly.]

[ Her hand wraps around his own, tugging him even closer if that's possible. Yes, this was a perfect plan to...

... To do...

... Um. What was she doing again? Funny how she can't remember. In fact, gazing into those dreamy eyes of his, she's having trouble remembering a lot of things. She can't really put into words, but he has this pull about him - like they're in perfect harmony. ]

Yes, you want her,
Look at her, you know you do.
Possible she wants you too,
There is one way to ask her...

[ Well, whatever her initial scheme had been, it doesn't seem terribly important right now. Not compared to the warm of his hands and the sincerity of his voice that just makes her never want to let go.

In a corner, Eek and Squeak are valiantly holding back a distressed Archie. ]

It don't take a word,
Not a single word,
Go on and... kiss the girl...

[ One of her hands has found its way to Drake's back, and she begins erasing the gap between their beaks, eyes starting to close... ]

[A soft breath escapes his beak as he opens it. It's like he's in awe of this moment. Lost in a trance, but a good one. One taking him to a world in which it's just him and her and her inviting lips.

He can't argue with this lovely song. Looking into her eyes, feeling nervous and calmed at the same time, he starts to lean forward these last few inches...]

C-can't argue with a... reading like that...

[...And so, even without the help of any nautical animals, he goes to press their lips together.]

[ Mercifully, there's no nautical animals to interrupt them either. (If there had been, Morgana might have been cooking eel for dinner right then and there.)

Unsurprisingly, he's just as soft and warm as he looks. The melody goes into a very light and pleased "hmmm~" between them, and suddenly, Morgana understands all those ridiculous sappy love songs that jam the radio.

Not that she's in love, of course. Nooo. That'd be silly. She's above such weaknesses. Why, she barely knows the guy! Just that he's good-looking and a great dad and very kind and sweet and funny and charming and apparently a very good kisser because wow.

When she does eventually and reluctantly have to pull back (among the many things this amazing man was capable of making her forget, breathing had suddenly become one of them) she exhales very deeply, looking almost intoxicated with affection. Her surviving brain cells are clinging on to dear life.

This would be the time to say something cool and sexy, but she seems to have lost the ability to be anymore verbose than - ]

... Hey.

[~~At least out loud, she won't say she's in love?~~

The singing might have stopped vocally, but Drake's heart feels like it's singing an incredible crescendo as their beaks touch. He feels like he's on set witnessing the filming of the first ever episode of Darkwing Duck. Like he's defeated all evil in the world and only love remains! All her evil, all those confusing feelings are forgotten for the moment, as these lips must be the lips of a saint!

He does his best to actually perform the kiss, putting all of his passion into it, and is then frozen in a stupor for a few moments afterwards. Morgana is much more relatively composed and coherent compared to him. He blinks a few times, with a goofy grin frozen on his face, while he tries to think of something... anything to say back to her.]

...N-nice... nice to meet ya...!

[ ~~Shalalalala, haaaaa~~~

She didn't know what she'd been expecting him to say, but it hadn't been that. It makes her snort, and then giggle - not mockingly, but just because it was so random, and because he's so adorable. She feels like a silly teenager again, clasping his hand to her heart. ]

I think we're a little past that point...

[ Especially now that's she's comfortable enough to nuzzle beak to beak with him. Maybe skipping rehearsal wasn't so bad, if it was for something as nice as this. For all she cared, they could stay like this for hours, skipping rehearsal, dinner, the next heist -

THE NEXT HEIST.

BECAUSE SHE'S A CRIMINAL.

Morgana jerks - what had she been doing?! This theater was loaded with evidence of their crimes! They could spend stolen cash easily, but valuables had to be stored away in whatever nook and cranny they could find. Dropping it off at pawn shops and the like would raise all the red flags if they did it right after a robbery, so they had to hide it wherever they could until the time was right.

Like inside the piano.

Which was right next to her and Drake.

Morgana sweats, struggling to think of a way to boot him out of the theater (albeit very reluctantly) without raising suspicion, and pulls back again, starting to let him go. C'mon, think think think, get out of that stupor of affection and THINK. ]

I, uh, that is, I... I've suddenly got inspired to write a new song!

[ BAD THINKING. ]

[Drake remains in a daze in the aftermath of that kiss. Crimes? What crimes? If Morgana's guilty of anything right now, it's just of stealing his heart!

Hos beak remains plastered with a goofy grin as he shifts over to lean an arm against the piano.]

Ooooohhhh.... Genius at work! I- I'm excited. Can't wait to hear what you come up with! You do have a way with words, and... your mouth in general... [He sighs dreamily.]

[ Not the piano!!! ESPECIALLY WHEN THE DARN THING HAS THE LID OPEN!!!!

Cue more nervous laughing. ]

Ahahahahaaaaaa... Well, it's a very... difficult, and laboring, and boring process, so you probably wouldn't want to be around for it...

[ She tries to casually lean on the piano too, ohohoho, nothing suspicious here, as she tries to nudge the bar holding the lid open to SHUT, DANG IT - ]

[Drake just casually has his elbow leaning on the edge of the piano, while his head's propped in the hand, as he basks in reality's current level of Softness.]

No way. I'm sure it's as fascinating as every other moment with you! A-and we just started hanging out, and... some really nice things were going on, and...

[But then he balks as he realizes something.]

Or am I throwing off your creative process? Because that's the last thing I want-

[But he shifts a bit as he speaks - enough for his elbow to slip and cause the upper half of his body to slam into the inside of the piano. ...And just in time for the lid to cooperate and slam down on Drake!]

...Ouch.

[ She had figured her criminal ways would hurt Drake, but she'd thought it'd be emotional, not literal! ]

Drake!

[ Scrambling, she manages to prop the lid back up and tries to pull him out - maybe a bit too quickly, so hopefully wouldn't see anything bright and shiny that doesn't belong in a piano! - and hold him close to her. ]

Oh, darling, are you all right?

I- I'm fine...

[He says, as piano keys clack in his mouth.]

There's some pain, but in D Minor kind...

[He shakes his head to try to get out of his trance.]

You should get that piano checked out. It's a hazard! [It hit so hard, he was sure that he was seeing stars! Or something shiny, the very least.]

Oh, well, y-yes, our instruments really do need tuning, and this whole theater does too - it's all falling apart! It's really a dangerous place, just coming apart at the seams...

[ Which is all the more reason she's trying to get him to get out out out! She places him down, on the floor, and with her hands then on his shoulders begins gently trying to push him towards an exit. ]

And we can't have an actor mar up that gorgeous face of yours, now can we?

[ But of course such a loud piano slam echoes in an empty theater - the rest of the band, confused and curious, are sure to return to the stage. The last thing she needs is to explain to them why she got to first base with a stranger wandering into their territory! Push push push!]

[As she pushes him, Drake starts to dig his webbed heels into the ground, producing friction and making a trail in the floor. Though he does pause a bit and blush at her compliment.]

W-well yes, it is quite the monkeymaker, but... [Then he renews his determination.] That should go double for you! I- I don't know if it's a good idea to be involved with something so dangerous. There... has to be a better way!

[He's not sure if he's still just talking about the theater now.]
