He nodded. "Yeah, I know." And honestly, that was even more important to him than any arguments they might have had. It was one thing for them to love each other. But the fact that she and the boys got along so well made him even happier. "You really do fit in with the family. Even Uncle Scrooge is impressed with you." Even if the old man wouldn't admit it.

Daisy flashed him a winning grin. "He'd better be, after all the trouble he's given me!" She teased, giving Donald a slight push with her hip.

Glancing at her for a moment, he then grinned a bit himself. "I wonder. Maybe you're too nice about it." Despite using the same joking tone, there was bit of sincerity in his tone.

"That's me all right - I'm just too good... for my own good!" A small laugh, taking his arm and tugging him further down the way. "How do you put up with me?"

His expression softened a bit, even as he chuckled. "You make it really easy," he replied, all earlier teasing gone.

She took both his hands, tugging him along until they were close as close could be. "You know... you're being pretty gosh darn wonderful tonight. Any particular reason?" She smirked, still feeling playful.

He wanted to be playful, really, if only so she wouldn't suspect what he was up to. But honestly, he wasn't sure how long he wanted to hold off asking her. "I've just been thinking a lot about how lucky I've been lately," he replied. Though some of the teasing does come back as he laughed. "And considering my luck, that's really saying something."

Daisy cocked her head, curious. As far as she knew, Donald's luck - astoundingly awful as it was - hadn't changed as of recently. How lately was "lately"?

"What do you mean? Has something happened?"

He just smiled as he glanced at her again. "You happened."

... Aw geez. Her cheeks flushed - he really was being more sweet than usual tonight.

... Which meant he was going to do something very romantic, or he'd screwed up in a major way and was just trying to ease the blowback. Knowing him, both were likely. Sometimes at the same time.

"...I've been happening for a while?"

"I know. And I've loved every bit of it." Hesitating a moment, he swallowed the lump in his throat. "And...I-I was thinking...maybe we could make it last...? For...for a long time."

Her eyes widened as the words really began to register, her fingers slowly clutching at her chest. "Donald...?"

He actually hadn't planned to do be doing this now, but...well, he'd gotten this far. Might as well. Clearing his throat a bit, he reached into his pocket, slowly getting to one knee. Pulling the little black box out, he opened it to reveal a ring, the diamond glittering in the sunlight. "Daisy...will you marry me?"

She had dreamed about this moment many times - and even now, her nails dug into her palm, trying to make sure this wasn't a dream. Her eyes felt hot, and her vision became blurry with tears.

"Donald... Donald! Of course I will!" With only that as a warning, she suddenly threw herself at him, hugging his neck.

Not expecting that, he was thrown back a bit as he caught her, and they both tumbled to the ground together. But his heart was racing as her reply finally caught up with him, and his body was vibrating as he held her close.

Once they stopped rolling around, she cupped his head and laid many kisses all over his face, with more tears rolling down her cheeks.

He was more than happy to accept all the kisses, his heart thumping in his chest with each one. But after a moment he drew away, just enough to pluck the ring from the box, holding it up to her with one hand while the other reached for hers.

Wow, she almost forgot about that! She let out a silly chuckle at herself, allowing him to slip the ring on. "It's beautiful! It's absolutely beautiful."

He breathed a sigh of relief. "I'm glad you like it. I had a lot of trouble picking out the right one." Mostly for financial reasons.

"It's perfect." She even kissed it once it was on her finger before going in for a good snuggle. "Donald, I'm so happy..."

His heart melting a bit, he held her close. "Me too. I'm really glad you said yes."
