Bad Romance - Hurt/Second Best/Love Potion XXX - Alicia & Sonic
By now, Alicia was used to the smell of blood, and the feel of intense pain. So instead of tending to the blood dripping out of the side of her chest, she was headed to a locked room within her castle. Due to having a familiar, she knew this wound would heal faster than that of a normal mortal, but it still hurt like hell. She momentarily touched the injury - it'd been a slice from a sword, from Scourge himself. To her, that made this twice as painful.
But no more painful than the last resort she was about to attempt. She fumbled for her key, and unlocked the door to the library of spells that had been both passed down and hidden away in her family. It was only to be used in emergencies. Alicia believed this more than qualified.
With a deep gulp of air and a hobble, she walked inside, scanning the spines to find the right book for the right potion.

But through it all, Sonic could feel a twinge of.. something in his gut at the whole situation. It felt like a mixture between anger, jealousy, and utter frustration. "You don't have to do everything by yourself." Sonic snapped after the spells conclusion in a rare tone of anger. In that moment, his voice sounded like Scourge himself though it quickly returned to sincere.
"I'm not saying this as a familiar. I'm saying this as your friend. We can find some other way other than makin' you the focus of his attention." Being one of the few people that he knew, of course he cared for her. There was no way he'd want her to invite trouble to her. Sonic began to pick books off the shelf near the one she was currently reading. "One of these other books must have some sorta spell you can use."

"You really only hear what you want to hear, don't you." Her snide voice was harsh, and she began to storm over to him, slapping his hand to make him stop touching the books. "I have subjects, I have servants, I do not have friends. Weaknesses like that would only hold me back." She then held up the spelled page defiantly. "Once he digests this, he will no longer attack my kingdom, and the greatest threat to my land is gone. That is what's most important. A true queen must be ready to sacrifice anything to guarantee the safety of her people."

He bent his ears back, and with a glare he grabbed the piece of paper from her hand and dashed off into the library.

She had also never been so utterly pissed.
"SONIC!" She screamed at the top of her lungs, and began to run after him. Her wound, while healing, slowed her down, and Sonic himself seemed to have a natural speed to him. Her hands clenched and unclenched over and over, visualizing strangling him. "Give that back to me this instant!"

Though to be fair, Sonic didn't exactly have an endgame for how he thought it would all play out from there. Unfortunately there was only so far he could run, Familiar's could only stray so far away from their masters before they felt intense pain.
He rounded a corner and found himself face-to-face with a dead end. "Great. Now what, hedgehog?" He looked around for a place to hide the spell, but there was no place around that would hide an obnoxiously glowy thing.
So he made a face, looked at the spell, and stuffed it in his mouth.

Once she found the blue hedgehog, a hot blow of angry air flashed through her nostrils. "After all I've done for you, this is how - " She stopped herself, realizing something crucial - the page was gone. "Where - where is the page?! It was the only one of its kind!"
no subject
"Don't look at me." Sonic said cooly as he folded his arms. "Guess it flew the coop."

And then she put it together. Her eyes widened, and she opened her mouth, though words didn't come out right away. Her cheeks began to tint without her permission. Then...
"... You... didn't."
no subject
"Didn't what?" He wouldn't be able to keep up the charade for long, as the spell began to twist and churn in his stomach. He clutched a hand to his belly and winced in pain as he felt it start to emit a warm sensation. "I don't know what you're talkin' about."
no subject
It was all she could think of to utter. How could something with such great potential be so massively foolish? Even if she could make him vomit it back up, the magic was already in his system. For once, she lost her calculating, smooth demeanor as she came apart at the seams. She flailed slightly, panicking taking over.
"You... fight it, somehow!" She snapped out. "You're... I have to find a cure, if there is... Gods above!"
no subject
"Do you want me to help you look at some books?"
no subject
... Alicia felt a knot in her chest. For all the positives this situation brought, there was a lingering bitter taste to it.
She rolled her shoulders, and turned away from him. "... Yes. We'll look through every single book here if that's what it takes. Then... then I will rest."
no subject
"Right." He trotted ahead. "I can take a quick look through 'em. Look fast, act fast, read fast! You know how it is."
Maybe he could impress her if he worked fast enough and found that spell.
no subject
"Scourge." She said, her back to Sonic. "... He was my former lover."
no subject
Whatever the case, he tried to keep it lighthearted and not turn green himself. Though he couldn't help but practically slam the book that he was flipping through back down on the shelf in front of him. "Heh. We all make mistakes." He nodded to her side before returning to his books. "If he's willing to hurt you like that now, it just shows he was never worth it."
no subject
She walked around the library, still searching for the right book. "I was young and foolish. I even planned to marry him and make him King. But... I found out from my personal servants that he was jumping any woman who so much as made eye contact with him. I was only a tool to get to the throne. I confronted him, we fought, I gave him the scars on his chest... and... that's that."
no subject
Sonic stayed quiet as he continued to thumb through all the books in the section of the library he'd claimed to search. One in particular on a lower shelf caught his attention--a worn book that looked as though it was looked through often. He picked it off the shelf and looked at the cover. It was titled 'Controlling and Obtaining Familiars'. He looked through the first few pages.
"... Hey." He breathed in. "If you hate him that much--Scourge--then why do I look like him?" Did summoners have control over that?
no subject
So she decided to lie. "I don't know... maybe his was just the first face that came to mind."
no subject
"Me lookin' like this must really make you hate me." Sonic said with a light chuckle just to keep the tone light, but given the spell and how it made him feel about her, the mere thought of Alicia hating him made his chest tighten with sadness. "But I like you."
no subject
"... Which we'll have to do later. I'm not healing as fast as I thought I was. I need to lay down."
no subject
He trotted around the row of books and offered her a hand. "I'll help you back to the room. Grab hold."
no subject
"Don't go too fast. I need to rest, not pass out."

He soon rounded the corner to her room, headed in, and sat her at down gently by her bedside. "Here we are!" He gave a theatrical bow. "Anything else you need, Queeny?"
no subject
"Do whatever it is that you do." She said, putting an arm over her eyes.

If it was Scourge under that spell, she'd sleep with one eye open. But... Sonic...
... Sonic was not Scourge. Simple as that.
