He really hated his life.

Oh, like he could do anything about it if she did. He's lucky she didn't blow him up!

"All this whining... you should be grateful. Magic can make life so much easier!"

He snorted. "I'll believe it when I see it. So far, it's been nothing but a pain."

It was because of magical bonds or whatever that they had to get married in the first place, after all.

She wasn't going to take this laying down - it was as if he was insulting her very heritage! "I can prove it! Name something difficult you have to do!"

He quirked a skeptical brow as he thought about the many different things he had on a list of things to do. "How about fixing up the house? There's always something around here that needs repairing."

"Ha! Easily done!"

Too bad he left it very vague. After all, didn't a paint job count as repair? With a snap of her fingers, all that "drab" blue and white sailing colors turned into black and purple, like a proper witch's coven.

"HEY!"

"Change it all back!"

"Oh, what's wrong now?" She huffed, hands on her hips. "I fixed it, just as you wanted!"

"That's not fixing it!" he squawked. "I am not having my house all dark and witch-y!"

"And what's wrong with being 'witchy'?" Careful, Donald. Careful.

Filter? On Donald? What crazy talk is that?

"Just look at it! It's all crazy and spooky, and why do you all need to have the same colors anyway? And why's it gotta be so dark?"

"Because dark is safer! It intimidates our enemies so they'll leave us alone! It protects us, and it's supposed to protect you and your boys, you ungrateful jerk!"

"What enemies? The only enemies we had were you witches! That was the whole point of this stupid arranged marriage in the first place!"

"Are you telling the richest man in the world doesn't have any other enemies? Thieves, jealous businessmen, jilted investors?"

Donald snorted. "He does. But I don't, not really. All Uncle Scrooge's enemies know that I don't have anything to steal, and kidnapping me will just make him mad. Not that he'd pay a ransom anyway."

It was true, in fact, and Donald actually had gotten along well enough with a few of Scrooge's enemies when they weren't directly fighting for or against Scrooge at any given time.

"What about your little boys?" She countered, hand on her hip. "No one would go after them?"

"Not unless they get actively involved," he grumbled, because that tended to happen more than he would have liked. "But even then, the boys are safe. Anyone dumb enough to try hurting the boys will not only get Uncle Scrooge mad, but they'll also have to deal with me."

The words on their own probably wouldn't have meant much normally coming from Donald. But there was something in his tone at that last statement that was harder, darker...almost menacing somehow.

Magica had almost been ready to roll her eyes - he was only one man, what could he do against a multitude of enemies? But then the way he said it - she legitimately felt her heart skip a beat.

She blinked - rapidly - as she tried to understand what just happened. Not knowing what "flustered" was, she cleared her throat, and snapped her fingers - the house's colors were back to normal.

"There. Happy?"

Glancing around, he nodded once he was sure everything looked back to normal.

"Thank you."

Though he did make a mental note to pick up something black later...just to make things a bit easier for her.

No other reason.

Magica was still grumbling. "I still haven't shown you the advantages of magic... fine, then the next best thing is dinner!"

The way to a man's heart is through his stomach, it had been said. Not that she was trying to win him over or anything...
