First Kiss - Olivia & Xander

 When Xander and Olivia had, more or less, announced their courtship, not everyone had approved. After all, she was an outsider in every sense of the world, not to mention there were questions of "gold-digging" and of her inability to become a proper Queen of Nohr. A prince and a dancer - how shameful!

... But even those naysayers would have found it very silly that despite being a couple, the two had yet to kiss.

Olivia blamed herself - though she knew she loved Xander deeply, her shyness controlled almost every waking moment. Just the idea of kissing Xander was enough to make her face go red and her body swoon. Hopefully she'd gain the courage soon. What kind of man would want to be with a woman that flustered? And more than anything, she wanted to make Xander happy. He deserved all the happiness in the world.

For now, she tried to relax and not think about the big issue so much. Xander's family, or at least his siblings, had been very open and welcoming. Elise had even given her a present today - a flower crown! How cute! Olivia was pleased beyond measure, and was now in her room, dipping it in a bowl of water so she could keep it fresh longer.

"Heehee... I wonder what Xander would say if he saw me wearing this."

Xander didn't verbalize his response. Instead, once making sure he had his arms still wrapped around her waist, he leaned in and placed a gentle kiss straight on Olivia's lips. He had figured she was shy about it, so not giving her time to dwell on the possibility would make sure they got it over with.

...Though he did hold it there for several seconds. But he did pull away much sooner than he would have liked, for her comfort.

Olivia didn't realize what was happening until it was too late. Here it came, the Queen of all blushes, from her ears down to her neck, and she couldn't move.

When Xander pulled away, Olivia struggled to find words. When she did...

"Th-th-th-thank you!"

...Well. That was an unusual reaction to being kissed. Xander looked at Olivia for a moment, bewildered.

Then he started to laugh. It was just too funny! He pulled Olivia back in close as he laughed.

"I'm sorry for startling you. But from that reaction, I'd say it was well worth it!"

Olivia covered her face with her hands, embarrassed. But at the same time...

"... Pfft." She'd never heard Xander laugh before. For the longest time, she didn't think he was capable of it. So that sudden, odd, wonderful sound coming from him started to make her laugh too.

"Hee... heehee! I-I'm so sorry! Heehee!"

Xander's laughter tapered off after several seconds as he took a deep breath to calm himself. He gave Olivia's waist a gentle squeeze.

"That wasn't quite the reaction I'd been expecting. But, at the same time, I know you were nervous about being kissed, so I can't be terribly surprised."

He fell silent for a moment before asking, "So, are you glad you got it over with?"

Olivia nodded, unable to stop smiling. "I'm sorry I gave you so much trouble... I guess I just get too worried that I'll mess it up somehow. Even though I know you'll always forgive me and be good to me... I just want to give you the best of all I can do. it's what you deserve."

But an honest question deserved an honest answer, embarrassing as it was. "I'm... r-really glad we did it!"

"Don't worry so much. Use your feelings instead of your thoughts."

Likewise, Xander kept smiling as they spoke.

"If you do that, you'll reach me no matter what you do."

It was at this point that he lifted one of his hands to gently stroke Olivia's cheek.

"Now that it's over with, how would you feel about another kiss? I owe you one that's much more romantic."

At this rate, she'd never stop blushing. But now that she was "warned" in advance, she could steel herself mentally. "Y-Yes! Um, p-please, thank you..." Another giggle escaped her lips, and she leaned on Xander, her hands on his shoulders.

"... I love you, Xander."

[blackparagon]

"And I also love you, Olivia."

This time, Xander held Olivia's chin between his thumb and forefinger. He lifted her head up, and leaned in and pressed his lips to hers.

This time he didn't release quickly. He held it.

And this time Olivia's brain didn't short-circuit. Instead of mentally screaming "AHHH THIS IS HAPPENING", she allowed herself to actually take in the moment. She closed her eyes, and touched his cheek, trying to give him the same tenderness he was bestowing upon her.
