[Fenton & Morgana] + [Fenton & Della] = Fenton's Life Continues To Get Weirder

[ While Morgana still didn't really think herself as a hero, she was still actively trying to be a Good Person. It wasn't easy, and it was often a struggle not to fall into bad habits, but she was trying her best. Having Darkwing, Gosalyn, and Launchpad's support was wonderful, but she wanted her circle to get even bigger. And what better way to make your boyfriend proud of you than by being friends with his friends? And a perfect opportunity had arrived to seek Fenton out!

During her last concert, Morgana had... gotten a little too into her music, let's say, and it wound up with her speakers exploding. While she knew the ins and outs of her own guitar, her forte was magic, not mechanics. And surely the genius inventor Fenton (as Drake had described!) would know how to fix her equipment! And maybe make it better than ever!

Alas, monster society and mortal society tended to differ when it came to certain social norms. For example, a mortal would think to politely knock at that person's front door, or ask a friend for their number. But monsters were pretty much used to hanging outside of people's windows and knocking on the glass to ask for permission to enter. Not that she needed permission because she was a vampire or anything. A-hem.]

[Della]

[ Della tended to avoid Gyro's laboratory, mostly to... avoid Gyro. But he was away for a week for his own nerd reasons, but he'd also taken along Little Bulb and Manny, which meant most of the daily grunt work was left to Fenton. Days ago, Della had happily volunteered to help Fenton in whatever he needed. But since that day, something had happened. Something that had completely soured Della's mood.

So while she kept her word, carrying this and that around the lab, cleaning up, doing whatever Fenton asked, she did so with an annoyed expression on her face. Every so often, she could be heard muttering something. ] 

Razza frazza Darkwing... razza frazza braggart... razza frazza incredibly hot rock-star monster girlfriend...

[ He fumbles a little when she mentions Gizmoduck, and he's glad his back is to her as he rolls his eyes a bit. Those two were meant for each other, all right...

But the mention of winning over a former villain has him pausing for a moment, because there's something about her tone that has him glancing at her curiously. ]

Is, uh...that something you wanted to talk about?

[sos_pilot]

[ Sniffle sniffle, whine whine. ]

She's the BEST ONE and my BEST FRIEND and we were ROOMIES!

[ oh my god, they were roomies ]

And she saved our butts in space against Lunaris and now she's a hero here on Earth and SHE WENT ON A DATE WITH LAUNCHPAD!

Whaaaaat? Noooo! ... But now that you brought it up -

[ She brought it up!? ]

Aren't you ever worried about... her? Like, maybe, she'll mess up and slip up back into villainy, even though she's trying really hard not to?

[doctorintern]

[ Fenton hesitates a moment. He's still new to all this relationship stuff, or even just...friendship in general, but something about what Della is saying leaves him feeling a bit curious. ]

...Did...Did you...want to go on a date with her?

[doctorintern]

............. [ Yyyyyyyyyeah, she is definitely a good match for Drake. ] I'm...actually not? We've had some time to talk things out, and we promised to be honest with each other. So I trust that if she's having doubts about anything, she'll come to me so we can talk about it.

[sos_pilot]

[ As much as she wants to let out the world's biggest GEE, YOU THINK?!, she does know Fenton is trying his best. So the sarcasm is swallowed down. Mostly. ]

Yes! But I don't want that to blow up in my face if she says no and ruin our friendship! So I've been trying to wait and find the right opening...

... AND YOU TWO DIDN'T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING AT ALL! You have these cute girls coming up to you, and you weren't even trying! You didn't even want to go on a "date" date, you were just picking Gandra's brain, AND THAT DORK IN A COSTUME - DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED! HE HAS TO BE LYING ABOUT HER!

Wow! You really have that much faith in her? After all she did? After how much she hurt you?

[ She's in awe! Complete and total awe! ]

[doctorintern]

[ Fenton frowns then, actually a little offended. ] Hey now, that's not fair. Gandra and I actually had to put a lot of work into our relationship. It wasn't that I didn't want to go on a date with her, I just didn't want to pressure her into it. And the only reason she talked to me in the first place was because she was working for Mark Beaks at the time and was trying to trick me. Then she started working with FOWL, and it took some time and a lot of talking before she made the decision to switch sides, and even then we had to keep it a secret from everyone because we were worried that she would get caught, and I was worried that people wouldn't understand, so don't tell me that I didn't have to do anything at all! [ ...okay, so maybe he's more than a little offended. But after a moment he takes a breath and releases it slowly before clearing his throat. ] And I can't entirely speak for Darkwing, but I wouldn't say he didn't do anything either. After all, he made the decision to trust her.

[doctorintern]

Well, it was difficult at first. We had to talk a lot about what we wanted, what we were willing to do, both for each other and for others. But that's part of a relationship, right? Being able to communicate with one another, about our fears and doubts as well as our hopes and dreams. Getting to know one another and really learning about the other.

[sos_pilot]

[ ... Wow, has she ever actually seen him mad? She can't recall! She can't even think of times the boys have told her about him losing his temper. Sucks that this has to be the way to see a rare event!

It actually sobers her up a smidgen, and suddenly he's the Adult between the two. She blinks a bit, then twiddles her thumbs, mumbling an apology like one of the boys being caught breaking something on Donald's boat. ]

... Sorry, Fenton. I, um... shouldn't have said it like that. You know me, doing the speaking before the thinking...

I'm just...

[ She winces. Does she really have to say the dreaded j-word? It makes her ill just to think about it! But she does owe him the absolute truth after offending him so. ]

... If you tell Darkwing this, I will deny it, and then I will break something of yours.

But, you both, and LP, and maybe even Donald, all of you guys, I am... actually... sort of... kind of... maybe... a tiny bit...

[ Deeeeeeep inhale. Deeeeeeep exhale. Actually doing a triple check to make sure they're totally alone. ]

J... J... J...

Jealous.

[ Gosh, he's so worldly and wise! No wonder Drake recommended him! Gizmoduck has no idea how fortunate he is to have such a genius working alongside him! ]

That sounds so... perfect! And romantic! You're so good at both robotics and relationships!

[ At least she's as cheerful and supportive as Drake is? ]

I'm so glad I came! I already feel so much better about everything... To think, you have so much trust and faith in her after she seduced you into helpless mush!

[ Aaaand there's the other shoe dropping.

Drake didn't exactly give Morgana all the details to what happened with Fenton and Gandra, out of respect and privacy, which allowed Morgana to fill in the gaps on her own. She assumed, that much like her initial relationship with Darkwing, Gandra used her good looks to put the wibbly-wobbly in Fenton's heart and mind.

Because, y'know, how else would a villain!girl and hero!boy relationship work???]

[ He's probably been mad at three people before; Gyro, Mark Beaks, and actually Gandra herself. So congrats, Della, you're now part of an exclusive list. After a moment he take another breath and releases it slowly. ] No, sorry, I shouldn't have snapped. [ Even if it was entirely justified. And he is not at all surprised by her revelation, because really, he's been paying attention to the conversation. But he's nice enough not to point it out. ] I mean, that's understandable. Seeing others in a relationship can be tough. [ Especially for someone who's been as alone as Della has been. ] So let's start at the beginning. You said you wanted to go on a date with your friend Penny, but you're worried about ruining your friendship with her. But then she went on a date with Launchpad? How did that happen?

[doctorintern]

[ Fenton sputters with a surprised squawk, dropping some of the tools he'd already gathered. ] S-She didn't seduce me! [ ...not technically, but... ]

I have no idea. That man has had more girlfriends and boyfriends than nickels in Scrooge's bin!

[ LP is a terrifying and awe-inspiring individual. Some days she's afraid to be alone with him, lest she somehow become a member LP's harem. ]

I didn't even find out about it until Dewey told me. You remember that whole thing at the pier with the FlintFerrisGlomWheel? After that, Dewey told me that all day, LP had been acting weird - well, weirder than usual - because his date with Penny had ended badly.

[ And if dating master LP can have a date end badly, how does anyone else stand a chance?! ]

[ She raises her eyebrows, surprised. ]

What do you mean? Drake told me she was using you. Didn't she put on something form-fitting and slinky, whisper clever word play in your ear, trace intricate symbols up and down your chest, kiss you really deeply in order to distract you from whatever she was doing...

[ If Fenton doesn't stop her, she's just gunna keep going, so enjoy those mental images, buddy! ]

[doctorintern]

[ Well that's...he can't say he's surprised that Launchpad was so experienced with dating, but he hadn't really expected it. Then again, LP is pretty likeable. ] Oh yeah, I think I heard about that. [ As he listens, he frowns a little as he remembers something else that Della said earlier. ] But you said that Penny doesn't like earth men, right? Maybe that's why the date didn't go so well?

[doctorintern]

[ Oh hey, Fenton's face is bright red now. ] N-No! She didn't do anything like that! We were just doing science experiments!

... And that's not an euphemism?

[ How... disappointing. What was the fun of a villain/hero ship if one of them wasn't kabeduckdon-ing the other to the wall and trying to lure them to the other side?

Ah well, not all romances can be the stuff of legends, she supposes. ]

[ Who doesn't like LP? The man could probably win over all of Scrooge's enemies if he was locked in a closet with them for seven minutes. ]

Yeah, she did! But that means she went on a date with LP without knowing it was a date! I like her a lot, but how am I supposed to ask her out if she doesn't even understand the concept?! On the moon, I was so focused on getting home, I didn't exactly ask around how their culture hooked up!

[doctorintern]

No! We both like science and inventing, so we were just showing each other some of our inventions. [ Look people are into different things, give him a break. ] Then we had some dinner, and then I found out she was working for one of my - my boss' enemies. [ ...was Mark Beaks really Scrooge's enemies, or had he turned into one of Gizmoduck's nemeses? He's actually not sure anymore. Beaks always seemed more opposed to him than Scrooge in general. ]

[doctorintern]

[ His frown only seems to continue to grow more puzzled. ] Why don't you try just...asking her?

[ Luckily, she does seem to have greater control of her brain-to-mouth filter than, say, certain other ducks. So any disparaging comments are left inside. ]

Mm-hmmm... and then you worked together to defeat him? That's what happened to me too! And then, through more adventures, you won her over! It's still very romantic!

Because if she says no, our friendship could be over! Could you hang out with someone who asked you out and you turned them down and just be totally chill afterwards?

[ Pause. Actually, anybody asking out Fenton in the first place is a stretch, and the one gal who did was just using him initially... but hey, Della's learning, so she didn't say that out loud!

... Her expression is totally saying it though. ]

[doctorintern]

[ He chuckles, a little embarrassed, as he rubs the back of his head. ] Yeah, uh...something like that. [ That was a pretty simplified version of how it happened, but it was a good enough description. ] B-But uh...I'm sure you didn't come all the way here just to talk about my relationship. [ Please go back to talking about you and Darkwing. ]

[doctorintern]

I mean, maybe? [ He'd like to think so, anyway, but then again, what would he know? He's awkward enough that it probably would have ended up a disaster either way. But yeah, he already knows that, you don't have to say it. Geez, Della. ] But okay, if you're really worried about it, how about starting off just seeing if she's interested in dating at all? Ask her about her customs in her culture, about how she feels about dating overall, and try to gauge it from there. If she's open to dating, then maybe ask to hang out, just the two of you, and test the waters, see how it goes?
