Wasn't there a fairy tale that went like this once? Fetching herbs and vegetables in a forbidden place...? Maybe Magica had heard it once in her youth, but she couldn't remember all the details - nor did she care to. Sure, she wasn't "allowed" here, but what did she care? She needed these herbs more! After Donald and Mickey had destroyed all her plans with the Beagle Boys and the Beasts, this was all she had left. How pathetic.
She looked out towards the hills, spotting the lone mansion. Whoever lived there probably didn't need to pick herbs for a living... They probably had enough money to play and party as they pleased. She huffed in jealousy, continuing to pull at the grass.

He did not know who this witch was. He had heard nothing of the fight of the Beastmasters but stories.
In his time no enemy would have escaped... he sighed deeply, there was no use mourning the past. He loved his business and yet... sometimes he missed the adventurous life of a Beastmaster...
He shook his head vigorously. It was time to put a stop to the witch. Loudly he demanded for his nephew
"DONALD!!!" It echoed throughout the castle.

"Yes, Uncle Scrooge?"
no subject
With sparkling eyes, he looked at his nephew. " Understood? Take whoever you want for help, but bring me that witch!" Normally Scrooge McDuck did not take prisoners, for it cost a great deal of money to feed them, but his feeling told him that in this case it would be necessary, and his feeling never deceived him!

With a reluctant salute, he turned around to start the hunt.

He could never see exactly who he was looking at, but his heart tightened longingly at the sight. It's the witch... it echoed through his mind. Had she bewitched him? But for what reason did she appear in his dreams?
Well, he would soon find out. Then this longing would end. Would he no longer awaken from slumber with heart beating fast... Witches are evil. Witches are ugly. Scrooge McDuck was not the kindest man on earth, but he would have nothing to do with such dark creatures.

"Uncle Scrooge! We got her, we finally got her!"
no subject
He did not want to miss a second of the triumph of having captured the witch. Donald stepped forward, and Scrooge could not yet see who Mickey was dragging through the door behind him. His heart beat faster with nervousness.
Undaunted, he pushed his nephew aside...
And froze.
For the first time in his life, he was at a loss for words. For a moment he stared spellbound at the woman who stood before him with an angry face. He could hardly breathe. She was a witch, he had expected a shriveled old woman. Of course she was by no means young, she seemed to be about his age but... Her beauty brought a slight blush to his cheeks.
Amazing...
Went through his head. He didn't even notice that he didn't move for seconds and only looked into her deep black eyes.

Magica hadn't said anything either, her eyes locked on Scrooge. Just as Scrooge hadn't expected the witch to be a pretty woman, she hadn't expected the mansion owner to be a handsome man.
Donald eventually cleared her throat. "So... should we throw her in the dungeon...?"

Normally a fine for her crime would be appropriate, but if he locked her up for a few days he might have had time to find out more about her. He grabbed her by the arm, not painful but with a strong grip. "I'll walk her down myself... thanks, good job Mickey!" After a short pause he added "And nephew..."
no subject
Magica slammed her heel down hard on Donald's foot. "Don't talk as if I'm not here, fool!"
Mickey winced as Donald grabbed his injured foot. "Uh... we'll see you later, Mister McDuck!" He quickly grabbed his friend and pulled him away.

He liked her fiery temper. She resembled him in that.
Now that he saw her in front of him, he did not have the heart to throw her into the darkest cell intended for "beings" like her, but led her to the one intended for noble prisoners. A little bigger and better equipped than the others. Almost a real room, but it remained a prison as the bars at the windows proved.
"A few days should teach you not to take what is not yours, Mrs..." He stopped. "I don't even know your name yet..." He looked at her expectantly.
no subject
"... Magica De Spell." She finally answered. "Not that my name means much anymore..."
no subject
She really was enchanting...
He turned his eyes away from her so as not to lose himself completely in hers. "I guess my name is well known to you, I am Scrooge McDuck, ruler of this town."
Carefully, he looked at her again. Meanwhile they were standing in the cell but he made no attempt to leave and lock it. "May I ask why such regret sounds in your voice? You carry a good, proud name and even if the last events were not in your favor, you will surely find a new way for yourself!"
The word "Surrender" was not in Scrooge McDuck's vocabulary.
no subject
"Are you kidding? I nearly brought about the end of everything! I used the Beagle Boys like pawns in my schemes for power! You think anyone in their right mind would trust me? Did you think I was out in your forest for my own sense of fun? I was there because it was the only place left I could go! Everyone else either wants me dead or arrested!"
no subject
He crossed his arms and gave her a dry look. "Are you sure you don't take too much credit for the whole fiasco? You forget my nephew was one of those who ended the war. From what I hear, the real mastermind behind it all was someone else. Who was just using the Beagle Boys and you for his schemes..."
His stern look became a little softer. Whenever he looked at her, he had to think about his dreams and the pleasant feeling they left him with.
"There is no need to pretend. I do not think you are weak just because you were not the leader. On the contrary, you probably would have gotten on further without the others. I just think destruction is no basis for power. Who wants to command a shattered remains?"

"I know you consider me your enemy at the moment, since you are my prisoner. "But you will not be in this cell forever. A few days should be enough to show the citizens that their complaints are being taken seriously and action taken. After that, I'd better not catch you stealing again..." A second time he wouldn't be able to let her off that easily and the thought hurt him.
He turned around, left the cell and locked it. "Think about what you will do with your life after your time here. There is always another way..." Scrooge McDuck knew that all too well. For he was born to poverty, and had fought his way to the top. "Good night, Magica..." Once more he gave her a long look, he found it hard to leave, and he didn't know why. Sure, she was stunningly beautiful but there was something else about her that immediately attracted him.
He grinned grimly as he made his way into his own bedroom. Foolish old man... he cursed himself.

What a strange man. Sleep was going to be difficult.

His steps made a noise and the figure turned around. Of course it was the witch as he had suspected. But this time his mind had enough information to shape her. "Magica..." He brought forth. She smiled and her lips moved as if she was speaking, but he couldn't hear a sound.
He reached out for her, but in that moment the dream image shattered and he woke up. His hand still stretched out he stared at the ceiling, the now familiar longing tightened his chest. "Magica..." he repeated in reality.
He turned his head to the side to see the clock that was in his room. It was very early in the morning. Seized by anxiety, he threw on his robe and went down to the dungeon. He stopped in front of Magica's cell and looked inside to make sure she was still there. What did his dreams want to tell him? And was he willing to listen to them? Thoughtfully he remained where he was.

"... Almost forgot where I was..."

He at least tried to give her a stern look. He was the lord of this castle, of this city. He was allowed to be here to look after things. To his chagrin, he felt his cheeks turn red with embarrassment from being caught.
no subject
"What do you want now?"
no subject
The smile he had seen in his dream came to his mind, how he would love to see it on her in reality. If he was honest, this facial expression was difficult for him as well. Friendliness was understood too quickly as weakness. Something that he could not afford with rivals like Rockerduck and Glomgold.
But here alone with her, he instinctively felt he didn't have to pretend. He unlocked the cell to avoid having to talk to her through the bars, it felt wrong. "Forgive me if I frightened you.
I just had... a feeling... I wanted to make sure you were okay..." He smiled gently.
no subject
"...I don't scare that easily." She huffed turning away.
no subject
Somewhat embarrassed, he scratched the back of his head. "Would you tell me something about yourself? Were you born a witch or did you learn the art? Do you have family? - Someone you love?"
He added after a moment's hesitation, feeling his cheeks turn slightly red again. He coughed unsteadily.
"Excuse me if I seem curious, I have never met anyone like you before and would like to know more about your world. But especially about you."
Slipped out unintentionally. He didnt even notice, as he was so fascinated by her.
