takesyoubytheheart [Mickey is in his apartment - in the background, you can see Chibi Chibi calmly eating some sweets on his table. Mickey clears his throat before talking.]
Look, uh... I think we can all agree there's not much rhyme or reason ta why certain people are brought here. Species, powers, age, it's all different. But another thing we can all agree on is that this pace can be dangerous, and kids need ta be protected.
Right now, the youngest one here is lil' Chibi Chibi.
[The girl glances up, upon being 'called'. He doesn't appear to notice.]
And she needs a permanent guardian. Otherwise, she'll keep getting herself into dangerous places, and it just ain't right for a kid her age bein' all by her lonesome. I can't give her all the time she needs... I've got duties here to do, and when danger arises, I jump into it. So she needs someone else.
[By this time, Chibi Chibi has quite calmly pushed her empty plate forward, hopped off the chair, and is heading for the nearest window.]
If need be, maybe there could be a system of takin' turns. But we can't take our eyes off her, for her own good. This City has no right ta drag innocent children here, so its our duty to watch over 'em. And I'm sure she'd appreciate all the help she can get. Ain't that right, Chibi...
[As you can guess, she's made her escape, so when Mickey turns around, he's alone.]
