[They had won their battle with Metarex and saved the universe. While it was sad that Chris still had to go back to his world with being unable to see any of them again, Cosmo has come with them back home. They all did their best to help her adjust to her new home.

During all this, Tails and Cosmo has started dating and become boyfriend and girlfriend.

Today is their official first date as a couple. Tails is feeling a bit nervous, due to both inexperience with dating and not really knowing what he's doing.

He walks up to the door at the place Cosmo is staying and knocks on the door. He waits while trying to calm his nerves.]

[Cosmo was equally nervous about this, as her species had such a uneven ratio of males to females that some girls barely knew about the concept of dating. She was still trying to learn about it, but she was eager to try. Still, when the knock came, she couldn't help but give a small gasp of surprise. Here we go.]

C-Coming!

[She skittered to the door, took a deep breath, and opened the door, struggling to appear calm.]

... Hello, Tails.

[He makes a nervous smile, trying his best to appear calm too.]

Hi Cosmo. Shall we go?

[He offers his hand to her like a gentleman.]

A-huh! I'm ready...

[Awww. She takes his hand, squeezing it gently with a shy little smile of her own.]

... Have you ever done a "date" before, Tails?

[This gets him to relax more as he starting walking with her as they hold hands.]

No I haven't. This is all new to me too.

That's kind of a relief... I guess we'll just have to learn together.

[She can't help but chuckle.]

I only thought you knew because... you know everything!

[He can't help but laugh.]

Not everything. There's always more things to learn after all.

That's true, but you always seem to know more than anyone else...

Maybe. It's not that big of deal.

[Always so humble.]

So where should we go? Feel hungry?

Oh, yes! I want to try more of your planet's food... it's so diverse! There's always something new to try!

Great. Anything specific you wanna try?

[He wasn't really picky.]

I think Miss Vanilla had me try this once... It was called... "dessert"?"

Oh dessert? That's usually after most meals.

[Should they really get some dessert before eating lunch? Seems like something that would ruin their appetites but he didn't want to be rude, especially on their first date.]

Hmm... Have you tried pasta yet? We could get some italian food.

[So dessert = pasta ... but also + Italian? Blink blink blink.]

... Okay! I'd like to try it. Let's go see if we can find "pasta".

[Err, not quite. It's possible dessert pasta exist but he's never seen any himself.]

There should be a restaurant not too far from here.

[~~Let's ignore the fact that this world's not like Chris' world, shall we?~~

He guides her to the direction of the closest one in the north-west. Shouldn't take too late to walk there.]

[She holds onto his hand, occasionally glancing around as they made their way to the restaurant. But pieces of earlier experiences come to mind as they approach it...]

Wait... this is one of those things that costs "money", isn't it?

Yes, but I've got money with me. I can pay for it, don't worry.

[They manage to reach the restaurant in question. It's rather small for one, but that's how most of them are here. Plus it was rather romantic in a way.

He lets go of her hand to open the door for Cosmo. Again, he's trying his best to be the best gentleman he can be.]

[Cosmo tried to object, feeling guilty that she couldn't at least pay for her own end. She'd need to find a way to fix that, or at least repay him somehow...

Well, for now, she'd appreciate the gesture.]

Oh, thank you.

She smiled at him, nodding her thanks, and walked inside. She internally 'ooh'ed and 'aah'ed at the inside, and the older customers couldn't help but coo over the adorable little couple that just came in.]

[He would say that she doesn't need to feel guilty about it as it's his treat.

His face heated up as he tried to ignore the cooing from the other customers.

A blue female pika waitress tells them they will need to wait a moment due to how full it is, and directs them to some chairs.

Tails sat down on one of the chairs and waits patiently until they can be directed to a table.]

[She sits beside him, trying to understand...]

Tails... how do I earn money? I want to repay you for this. You're always doing so much for me.

It's okay Cosmo, you don't need to repay me. It's my treat.

But if you really want to know. You can get money by getting a job somewhere, though that might be tricky since we're not adults.

[Not to mention that she's an alien. That might make things trickier.]

But then where do you get your money?

[Head-tilt, as she asks the question that the Sonic fandom has wondered for eons.]

Uhh, after you're worked enough they pay you? It depends on the type of job.

[Luckily the waitress comes back and asks them to come with her. Tails follows and sure enough, they are being directed at a small table for two next to a window with sunlight shining in.

Tails waits for her to decide which side she'll take. He imagines she would want the sunny side, but he doesn't want to assume.]

[Thankfully this distracts her from the money issue. She quickly goes for the sunny seat - being a plant and all.]

Oh, this is perfect. And there's a lovely view!
