Fluttershy & Discord - Hades & Persephone

One would think that being immortal meant immortal patience as well. But this was not the case, nor would it even be again, now that she'd made an unknowing yet last impact upon his dark soul. He had to have her, and had to have her now, before any other unworthy wretch finally realized her grace and beauty. Her opinion never factored into his desires.

Now he was watching her in the sunlight, his claws digging into the trees as he hid in the shadows. If he merely appeared, he'd scare her off, so he needed to lure her into his grasp. But by all of his stalking, he knew her well enough to guess what would serve as a distraction.

With one snap of his figured, two darling, adorable little butterflies began to float about, making their way towards the damsel soon to be in distress.

At first, there was some rapid blinks in surprise. "There are stories? Really?"

But as always his moods changed instantly, and now he was twirling her around until she was sitting on a big, fluffy couch, and Discord was propped up on a backwards chair, eyes glittering. "Tell me, tell me, tell me!"

She gave a startled sound as she was suddenly seated, surprised by the soft couch. Then she looked at him curiously.

"U-Uh...well...like I said, there aren't much...But there are a few stories about the...Lord of Chaos back home...causing trouble in the world by making things nonsensical. Almost like you reversed logic itself."

[ynomrah]

"Oh, how grand." He grinned, one long tooth sticking out. "And very true! No one came to me, but I came to the world, and I did my best to make things interesting. I don't know how you can stand that boring place, where no surprises happen, and things stay the same."

[shiningkindness]

"Oh, but that's not true. There are lots of surprising things in that world, and change happens all the time. Just...not quite to that degree."

[ynomrah]

"But then what else is the point?" Discord flopped his head into Fluttershy's lap. "If you're going to do something, you should go all the way. All or nothing. That's why I brought you here instead of just saying hello. That would've been so dull!"

[shiningkindness]

She gasped, tensing a bit as she looked down at him.

"Not...everyone's like that, though. I...think I really would've preferred if you'd said hello, and we got to know each other a bit better."

She certainly wouldn't be as scared of him.

[ynomrah]

"... Well. Good thing it was up to me then." He rolled off her lap, and landed on the floor, not bothering to get up. "You think I don't know I don't belong out there? It's clear, it's obvious. I can't be in that place, so I had to bring you here."

[shiningkindness]

She started a bit when he fell on the ground, moving so that she could lean over and see him better.

"Well...why couldn't you?"

[ynomrah]

"Because I am Lord Discord, master of chaos!" He sprang up-right into a sitting position. "Being in that world means following those rules, and I don't follow rules... I break them! I defy them! It's my very nature. You may as well ask the sun to stop shining, or the sea to turn into chocolate!"

A head-tilt. "Which I can do, by the way."

Sitting back as he jumped up, she tilted her head a little. "But...couldn't there be a way to cause chaos without scaring or hurting people? Then I'm sure you would be able to visit our world."

[ynomrah]

Discord turned her back to her, silent. His tail flicked here and there in contemplation. "... You think it would welcome my way of being, just like that? I am not like them. I am not like anything else that exists."

[shiningkindness]

She glanced up at him, her expression thoughtful.

"I think...that's why you could be welcome in our world. You're unique...and I'm sure there are lots of people who would love to learn more about you. And just because you create chaos...it doesn't mean it has to be bad, does it?"

[ynomrah]

More contemplation, more flicking. But when he turned to look at her, his eyes were narrow and untrusting. "How do I know this isn't some ruse to make sure I let you go?" Even though he wanted her deeply, even she was not above suspicion. Why would she like him anyway? Why would she want his happiness?

[shiningkindness]

She fell silent again as she thought for a moment. She couldn't blame him for being suspicious, especially with how scared she had been before. But truthfully, she hadn't even thought about that.

"Well...to be honest...I would like to go home. But...how about this? If you let me go home, and you try coming with me to my world and getting to know us there...then I promise to come visit you here too."

[ynomrah]

"You... prrromise?" He rolled the word on his tongue, getting an idea.

"Well, that's fine and dandy, but words are just words. I can't trust you on that alone." Suddenly he was behind her, fingers rattling along her shoulders. "What if we make a deal?"

[shiningkindness]

She hesitated a moment, not sure she liked what he was getting at.

"W-What...kind of deal?"

[ynomrah]

"If you truly desire your freedom so badly, you're going to have to give me something... something that you treasure, something that will make sure you come back to me, friendship or not.

Now his fingers were on her winds, trailing them thoughtfully. "Hmmm... these might do."

[shiningkindness]

She jumped a bit at that, her wings fluttering under his touch.

"M....M-My wings...? I-I don't...really use them that much, but..."

But she still wanted to keep them, just in case she needed them to help some animals.

"I-Isn't there...something else? Like..."

She blinks as an idea pops into her head.

"I...have something at home that might work. I love it a lot...but I'll give it to you, to show you I mean what I say."

[ynomrah]

He continued to fondle her wings, frowning but intrigued. "I will have to go with you, you know... To make sure this isn't an escape attempt. Now then, what is this mystery item? It had better be worth my while."

[shiningkindness]

She nodded. "Of course. It's at my house, so we can go there."

She hesitated a moment, suddenly looking a bit embarrassed as she glanced away.

"W-Well, it...I-I'm...not sure if you would think it's worth it, but..." She rubbed her arm a bit, trying to think of the best way to put it. "I...have this little handkerchief that one of my animal friends used to wear...a brown little rabbit named Cinnamon. She was one of the first animals that I took care of."

She sighed softly.

"And the first of my animal friends to pass."

Discord pulled back in surprise. A handkerchief belonging to a dead pet? She considered that worth far more than her own wings?

He walked around to face her, studying her, his claws on his chin. "...You continue to surprise me." he finally said. "But I don't think you have the ability to lie. Or at least lie well." He clicked his tongue.

"... Very well, then we have an agreement. I will give you your freedom, and in exchange, you will hand over this... handkerchief."

She was, of course, completely serious. And with a soft sigh, she nodded.

"All right."

It wasn't...a good feeling really, even with getting to go home. But it was a bit of progress.

Discord snapped his fingers, and a pair of doors that weren't there two seconds ago opened, revealing golden stairs going upwards.

"You have one day to come back to the forest and give me this handkerchief. But if you don't... I will find you." He smirked with smugness, rubbing his forefinger and thumb together, creating sparks. "Don't think I can't. There's nowhere in the world you can hide from me. And if I find out that you broke your deal, not only will I take you back down here, I'll remove every memory you have of the outside world. And no amount of pretty pleases and adorable eyes will set you free."

She sucked in a breath, her heart pounding in her chest. But swallowing the lump in her throat, she nodded.

"I-I...I understand. I'll come back."

Then turning to the staircase, she slowly released another breath before heading up.

At the very least, Discord was keeping his end of the deal. He made no attempt to stop her, and there was no magic to trip her or block her path. Instead, he just watched her silently. If she dared turn back, his face would continue to wear the menacing smirk of a villain.

... But his eyes would have a haunting sadness, a doubt that she'd return at all.
