Love Like The Movies - Beauty & The Geek - Donald & Daisy
Someone as beautiful as Daisy could theoretically have any guy she wanted, and in turn she was wanted by most of the guys in her school. She'd gone on plenty of dates, usually for the sake of popularity or being spoiled, but never felt that special spark. Surely it would come when the perfect man stepped into her life.
Except when she did feel that special spark, it came from the most imperfect boy in school. Oh geez.
The final bell had rung, and students were leaving en masse. Some were flouncing off to their clubs, like Minnie and her gardening, or attending sports practice, like Mickey and his soccer. Daisy quite conveniently had an off day from cheerleading practice. She could have headed right for home, but instead she was trying to hide around a corner, waiting for Donald to go to his locker. If she planned this just right, she could casually appear, mention that by gosh she was going home too, what a coincidence, they might as well walk home together!
And in the ensuing walk and conversation, she would find a way to convince herself she didn't like him. Of course, she liked him, but not - not like - not like LIKE, you know?! She couldn't! She was the head cheerleader, and he had that cute voice - WEIRD VOICE HE HAD A WEIRD VOICE NOT CUTE AT ALL.
Daisy swallowed hard, and poke her head around the corner. Had he arrived yet?

With everything ready, she calmly walked around, her backpack lazily slung around her shoulder, two books nestled under one arm. All of this to give off a "I absolutely wasn't stalking you this is really me" look. "Oh, Donald!"
no subject
He's surprised to see Daisy here without Minnie or Mickey, but he gives her a friendly smile back. He then goes to open his-- uh, well he tries to open his locker, but the door doesn't budge. He tries again, the rattling of the metal doors echoing through the hall.

His voice is tinted with annoyance, not directed at Daisy, of course, but at his jammed locker. He tugs again, and again, and again. His hand eventually slips off the handle, and he lets out a startled quack as he's sent backwards with his own momentum.
no subject
The door swings open.
"... What stuff did you need?"
no subject
He laughs a sheepish little ducky laugh.
"Just the books for math and English."

Every other day, maybe, but not every day.
no subject
"At least you don't wrestle with your books. Most boys' covers are totally trashed." That is a compliment. Kind of.
no subject
One of his hands brushes up against hers as he takes the books.
"So you don't have cheerleading practice today?"
no subject
no subject
Yeah, Daisy, you might have to drop a few more hints.
no subject
"Y'know... Mickey just so happened to mention the other day that, well, you and I kind of... live nearby. Nearby-ish. On the same way."
no subject
Now he seems to get it.
"Did you want someone to walk home with? I know Mickey and Minnie are both busy tonight."
no subject
"Well... I suppose I could use the company." A shrug with one shoulder, as if she could go with or without him. "If you're done fighting with lockers, anyway."
no subject
"I'd be happy to walk you home, then, Daisy!"
Somewhere in the back of his mind, though, Donald's wondering what the catch is? Why would a pretty, popular girl like Daisy want to spend time with him? But he's a little too caught up in the moment to really question it.

As they walked, Daisy kept her eyes forward. Time to start the investigation. "Mickey and Minnie probably wouldn't go with us anyway... you know them, always giving each other goo-goo eyes and ignoring the rest of the world. I guess that's what happens when you have a boyfriend."
First point - Did Donald have a girlfriend!
no subject
The way he answered sure made it seem like he didn't have anyone to make goo-goo eyes at.
no subject
"I wouldn't know. I've never really had a serious boyfriend. All the guys in this school are totally immature. I mean, they're are a few exceptions..."
She cleared her throat. "But I guess it only matters if you want a girlfriend. Boyfriend."
Did he want a girlfriend?
no subject
... He pauses, his expression becoming skeptical. Why is Daisy bringing this up anyway?
"So, these exceptions... what are they like?"
no subject
"Ummm..." She fidgets with the books in her arms. "Well, there are some guys in this school who can be pretty nice. And funny. And sweet. And good looking." Dang it, she's describing him to a T.
no subject
"Wait... Do you have a crush on Mickey, or something?"
Case in point.
I LAUGHED SO HARD
Daisy dropped her books in complete and total shock. "Are you nuts? He's such a dork! I mean, he's a nice dork, but he is SO not my type! Ugh!"
no subject
no subject
She began to kneel down and pick up the books. "... Sorry."
no subject
"So, this guy you have a crush on, what else is he like?"
no subject
"Besides! Maybe he has a crush on someone else!"
no subject
no subject
Avoiding eye contact again, clutching her books tight to her chest.
no subject
Her reaction wasn't quite what he was expecting, and frankly very suspicious. Why would she be trying so hard to avoid eye contact...
Unless...
No way, it can't be! There's no way the most popular girl in school had a crush on him, the unlucky loser.
no subject
"And...I know I'm not perfect. Even though I'm gorgeous, smart, athletic, popular, and super fabulous - " and humble, clearly, "There are guys who might not like girls with... big attitudes."
Code words for a temper.
no subject
"I don't know, Daisy, you seem perfect to me..."
no subject
...
... She never stood a chance, did she?
"You're not so bad yourself." Daisy finally says, inching up to Donald a bit.
no subject
Unlucky, temperamental ducks with weird voices are strangely irresistible.
"You think so?" He starts to puff up smugly... when the logic of the situation hits him, "You... you really think so, Daisy?"
no subject
"You're not perfect...but maybe I don't want perfect." Now standing alongside him, she pushed his arm with her own, dangling her fingers down, open and ready to be held. "Maybe I want a guy who fights with lockers."
