Arranged Marriage (Arabian Nights ver) - Donald & Minnie
There was only so much crying one could do before things had to change. Like, three or four hours worth. Maybe five. Minnie was close to hour five.
As the only daughter of a noble family, it meant she was marriage fodder and little else. She had blissfully put this out of her mind for a long time, as she was so swept up in the arms of a common guard that she thought of little else. Then came the hammer, straight from her father - she was to marry a royal prince - the royal prince - as soon as possible. She wept, she sobbed, she screamed, she even bit her father's hand, but in the end it all didn't matter. Minnie was literally dragged out of her somewhat loving home and shipped off to the palace, with the marriage to be official in a day or two.
This was how she came to be in that gigantic bedroom of silks and riches and didn't want any part of it. After nearly four and a half hours of sobbing at her fate, she had finally decided to do something about her circumstances. For now, the only idea she had was a tired classic - tying bedsheets and rolling them out the window.
Minnie sat on her knees, getting to work, already having knotted three bedsheets together. Her fiance was supposed to meet her soon - she probably should have been keeping track of the time.

"The prince is waiting for you"
The prince was most certainly not waiting for her.]
no subject
Oh! That's... nice of him to wait. I was just... waiting to be told he was waiting!
[Nervous laughter, that'll totally convince them, right? She gulps, brushing down her dress, and slowly moves to follow the guard.]
no subject
"I'd like to introduce his royal highness--" The guard pauses when he realizes the prince isn't in hall. "Um..."
Suddenly, one of the doors is flung open, the prince is shoved out into the hall, and the doors are slammed behind him.
"Ahh, here he is. I'd like to introduce his royal highness, Prince Donald"
Prince Donald looks from the guard, to Minnie and back again, a sour expression on his face.]
no subject
She gulps, and at least bows properly, with a bit of a curtsy. Might as well be polite.]
It's... an honor to meet you, your royal highness.
[it is, kinda.]
I am lady Minnie.
no subject
He bows back.]
Pleased to make you're acquaintance, lady Minnie.
[Well... that voice certainly explains why the prince never seemed talked in public.]
no subject
that's certainly. a voice. Minnie stares, having to bit down on her lower lip to keep from laughing since that might be. Kind of. Impolite. She swallows, trying to stifle it.]
Y-Yes, well... I'm sorry if I kept you waiting. I was just in my room, thinking about... the future. Our future.
[Also technically not a lie.]
no subject
And don't think he doesn't notice the stifled laughter.
But there's more important matters at hand]
There's no need to apologize, it's a big change for everyone.
no subject
[She wrings a bit of her dress in her hands, uncomfortable. She doesn't want to hurt this nice guy or break his heart, but...]
And sometimes change isn't always good.
no subject
[He pauses in thought and there's an almost awkward silence... but he suddenly brightens up with an idea.]
Minnie, would you like to see the gardens?
[Donald offers a hand, an apologetic look on his face. He hopes his intention is coming across. Mainly to get away from the hovering guards so they can actually talk about this predicament.]
no subject
That would... be so nice. I love gardens.
[Also true. She slowly takes his hand, hoping this isn't going to some grand proposal or big speech about how she's the prettiest flower in the garden.]
no subject
Donald leads Minnie down one of the halls and into a lush, green garden, practically an oasis in the desert city.]
What do you think of the palace?
no subject
[And it is. If not for the awful circumstances, this would be a lovely place to live in.]
I've never even seen half of these plants before... and your palace is beautiful.
no subject
Yeah...
A beautiful prison.
[He suddenly sounds very bitter, and it's not entirely clear if he's talking about himself or Minnie.]
no subject
Huh?
[She turns to him, blinking rapidly. Did she hear what she thought she heard?]
What did you just say?
no subject
My family wants to control my whole life.
[He kicks a bench in frustration.
A stone bench.
With his bare foot.
He recoils, quacking in pain, hopping up and down on his unhurt foot.]
no subject
Oh! Well! Actually, my family's the same way!
[she keeps her hands up, ready to help him with his injury if need be.]
no subject
At her reply he abruptly stops hopping.]
Does that mean you don't want to marry me?
[He doesn't seem too broken up about the idea.]
no subject
... I'm in love with someone else!
no subject
[He laughs, he can't really help it.]
So am I!
no subject
[OH HAPPY DAY! Minnie so overjoyed she grabs Donald's hands.]
That's the best news I've heard all day!
no subject
Hold the phone, they can't start celebrating just yet, he pulls his hands away]
That doesn't change the fact that we're still stuck in this mess.
no subject
But... but we can't go through with it! There has to be something we can do!
no subject

[He sighs a particularly ducky sigh as he sits on the stone bench.]
How am I gonna tell Daisy...?
no subject
[She comes over with a sympathetic pat on the shoulder.]
... How well are the two of us going to be guarded?

There's gotta be a way out of this.
no subject
Hmmm... They want us together because of our families. Rich plus rich.
