Mikan & Repliku - Secret Admirer

 The mystery transfer student - it was like something out of a manga. Nobody knew where he had come from, and as a result there were hundreds of rumors flying about him. Amazing, the faculty at Hope's Peak Academy didn't care about any of this. All they cared about was his amazing talent, and so they waved away piles of paperwork in order to enroll him. What did mysteries about the past matter when they were building hope for the future?

The school's next semester hadn't officially begun yet, but students who had been enlisted were allowed to have free range on and around the campus. The faculty believed this gave students a 'preview to greatness', whatever what meant.

Normally Mikan would have patiently waited at home until the semester had properly begun, but the mystery transfer student had changed her plans. Today she quietly waited behind one of the school's large pillars...

[It was strange to say the least, going from fading out of existence to finding himself unconscious on the stairs of an academy in an entirely different world. He wasn't sure what to make of it, especially when one of the teachers at Hope's Peak had made the decision to drag him in for trespassing at first until she and the rest of the faculty saw what he could do. Upon seeing this, that same teacher who brought him in along with the rest of the faculty decided that it didn't matter where he came from and enrolled him immediately. So now "Riku" (the name he gave them anyway) was considered the best swordsman in all of Japan. He didn't know what a Japan was or why he was here, all he knew was that he was allowed to live on the campus without needing to pay for anything. Though he was coming in today mostly to see about one of the teachers taking him in to stay with her for the time being, of course he stops walking when he notices Mikan out of the corner of his eye. He even looks at her for a moment, simply blinking as if he was unsure what she wanted.]

[naughty_nurse]

[Whoops. Super High School Master Of Stealth, she is not. Startled, she tries to hide behind the pillar, whining quietly. She wanted to watch him a little more before she got caught...!

After a moment, she dares to poke her head out again.]

Um... g-good morning, Riku...

[darkimitation]

[He walks closer to where she's hiding, wondering if something was wrong with her.]

Oh. Hey Mikan. What are you doing here?

[naughty_nurse]

... Standing?

[That's... technically not a lie?]

I, um... I could ask you the same question! ... Maybe?

[darkimitation]

I came because one of the teachers wanted to meet with me. She wanted to discuss me finding a foster family and well, I was coming here to see if I could get a new name for myself. The name I have now... It's a reminder of my past I want to forget.

[naughty_nurse]

[She blinks, already confused.]

Um, well... Do you have a new name in mind...?

[darkimitation]

[He shakes his head.]

No. Maybe you can help me? If you don't mind. [He also ponders something.] Also uh... Can I ask you something?

[naughty_nurse]

O-Of course! You can ask me anything you want!

[darkimitation]

[There's a short pause before he speaks.]

I'd like to live with you, would that be possible?

[naughty_nurse]

[... Okay, whatever she'd been expecting, it certainly wasn't that. She stares, and then rubs her ears, laughing nervously.]

I... I must have some waxy build-up in my ears! Yes... could you repeat that?

[darkimitation]

[He's staring at her for a moment looking confused, but repeats what he asked.]

... You really need to get your ears cleaned then. I asked if I could live with you.

[naughty_nurse]

[... well then. Only one rational way to respond.]

WHAAAAAAAT?! B-But... we... we only just... I-I'm too young to get...! I need your mother's blessings! We haven't even gone on a single date yet!

[darkimitation]

[What. Seriously what. He doesn't get what she's saying.]

What's your mother's blessings and a date have to do with your family adopting me? That way we can live together.

[naughty_nurse]

[... Oh. Adoption. Like a brother-sister thing. Not marriage. Ha. Ha ha haaa. She pales, wishing there was a rock she could hide under.]

... Oh, um... I don't... I don't think that would a be a good idea...

[darkimitation]

[He can tell she's upset and tries to be more comforting.]

Hey, what's wrong? I mean if you don't have the room or anything, that's fine. I just... I thought I'd ask you because you're one of the few people that's been really nice to me.

[naughty_nurse]

N-No, it's just... I...

[She fidgets, unsure how to tell him the truth about her home situation without causing trouble.]

My parents... They, um... they work very hard, and so they get frustrated, and when they get frustrated, they... lash out.

[darkimitation]

Lash out? Do they lash out at you? [He seems a bit concerned now, because part of him wants to get Mikan out of that situation and it's reminding him of when Namine was being hurt.] I won't let anyone hurt you.

[naughty_nurse]

I-It's fine! I... I'm used to it. And... now... I'll be spending more time at school, so, they'll be too tired to do anything when I get back...

[She looks down, feeling guilty for giving him this burden.]

You would be better off with someone else... anyone else. I'm not... a normal person.

[darkimitation]

I'm not normal either, Mikan. [Maybe it was time to tell her.] Come on, let's go somewhere quiet. There's something I need to tell you.

[naughty_nurse]

Huh...? ... Um, o-okay, if you really want to...

[darkimitation]

[He takes one of her hands into his and walks with her to somewhere they can be alone. Eventually, it's behind the school in a little garden area. He then gestures for her to sit with him on the near by bench.]

This might be hard to swallow, but... [He lets go of her hand and crosses his arms with a sigh.] I'm not exactly human.

[naughty_nurse]

[Hand holding~ Hand Holding~ She's lost in bliss for a moment...]

... Wait, what? Not... human?

[darkimitation]

I'm a replica of the guy whose name I have made from his data. Or I guess in simpler terms, I'm essentially a copy or clone of him made from his DNA. I think. I don't really understand it myself, but that's all I know.

[naughty_nurse]

A... A c-clone?!

[She stares in disbelief... but... technology truly had come very far these days. Was it so impossible...?]

What happened to... um... the 'other' person...?

[darkimitation]

He's probably still alive out there somewhere. Not that I really care.

[He leans against the bench with a sigh.]

So now that I've told you, you probably want nothing to do with me.

[naughty_nurse]

Huh...? W-why would you say that? Did I do something wrong?

[darkimitation]

... Huh? No. I just thought you'd find it weird to hang out with someone who isn't human.

[naughty_nurse]

... Um, I don't understand a lot of it... There are a lot of things I don't understand, but... you're... human enough to me.

[darkimitation]

... You really think that? [He sounds really unsure.] Why? I don't understand.

[naughty_nurse]

... You have feelings. You care, you think, you get angry, and sad, and happy... so... I think that's all a person really needs.

[darkimitation]

Mikan... [He can't help but smile at her a little.] Thanks. That really means a lot hearing it from you.

[naughty_nurse]

[Blush blush blush blush! She looks down, clutching her dress.]

... I th-think anyone would say that, if they knew you...

[darkimitation]

[He tilts his head at her curiously.]

Are you... blushing?

[naughty_nurse]

Uwah! I, ah... I-It's a very common human condition!

[darkimitation]

I know what blushing is, I'm wondering why you're doing it.

[naughty_nurse]

... Is it... bad that I'm blushing?

[Avoid avoid avoid avoid the subject!]

[darkimitation]

No? I just wanted to know why.

[She's really confusing him.]

[naughty_nurse]

...

[She can't even face him anymore, her hands pulling hard on her uniform.]

... It's, um... It's just something I do when... I'm with someone who makes me happy.

[darkimitation]

[Well that came out of nowhere and he still looks confused.]

... I make you happy?

[naughty_nurse]

... You've always been so nice to me... A-and you're smart, and clever, and just... Just being with you makes me feel better than any medicine.

[darkimitation]

[To some degree, Mikan does remind him of Namine. However, even he can tell the difference between the two. And at least Mikan was willing to admit she actually liked him.]

You... remind me of someone I thought I cared about once. [He looks down at the ground.] But most of that turned out to be lies and false promises, none of it was real. [He then looks back up at Mikan.] With you though, it feels a lot more real than it did with her.

[naughty_nurse]

[Has she done something to make him doubt her? As always, her paranoid is loud and constant.]

I-It is real! I swear! I would never, ever lie to you! Because that would make you sad, and you being sad would make me sad! And I want you to be happy, no matter who you're with!

[darkimitation]

[He smiles a little bit now at her.]

Even if it's with you? [Of course that's said in a bit of a teasing manner.]

[naughty_nurse]

[BLUSH. She stammers, wishing she could hide her face.]

... W-well, that... I mean... I w-want your happiness, more than anything else.
