Sonic & Alicia - I've Loved You For A Thousand Years
Desperate times called for desperate measures. Alicia was loathe to do this, as she wanted to reclaim her land and revenge by her own hands, but now it was obvious she needed help. Without telling any of her servants or allies, she'd taken her horse and ridden off into the forbidden woods, where monsters and spirits were known to dwell.
With a spell book under one arm, she warily entered the dark shadows of the forest, with only the barest of light illuminated through the treetops. If she could bind a spirit, give it a physical form, then it would give her a great advantage over the merely mortal Scourge. At this point, she didn't care which or what spirit it was, what power it would have, or even if it was willing to obey her at first. As long as she captured it, it was a victory already.
She urged her horse to come to a stop, and flipped through the pages, finding the correct spell. Now to wait and find...

However, the people who lived their came to an untimely end at the hand of an immortal mage of the time who sought to purge potential opposing magicians from the world. Though each person who lived there perished, their souls lingered on in an attempt to find peace. Some spirits were strong enough to take physical form and wander the wilds, driving out those who stepped foot in the forest, thus coining the term the "forbidden woods".
Since that time the forest had overtaken the forgotten village. The only evidence of people having lived there at all were some mossy stones which were purposefully arranged and some vague stories that managed to withstand the test of time.
As the footsteps of a horse treaded on the soil near the old village, the trees themselves began to stir and moan at the unwelcome invader. The wind started to howl in an attempt to blow the pages of the book out of the girls hand. Countless whispers of 'leave this place' and 'go away' carried on the wind.

"Oh spirit, name and form lost to time and memory!" She called out, reciting the pages from the book. "Where they have abandoned you, I will reclaim! Give your life to me, so thou would become my other half, my eternal aide, my guide until my own story is at an end!"
The book began to take on a faint blue hue, and Alicia raised a hand high, shouting as loud as she could. "Come forth to me now, spirit! For now we walk this destined road together! Come forth to me... NOW!"

Once the words were spoken, small beads of light rose from the earth and collected a few feet above the ground in a bright blue sphere. After a bright flash of the light the environment settled into an eerie stillness. There was no deafening noise, no wind, but it seemed just as unsettling as before.
"....." Came a voice from the formless ball of light.

"You'd better make this worth it." She muttered under her breath as she approached the orb of light. She then grasped it in one hand, and closed her eyes. In order for a physical body to grow, she had to envision it, so she concentrated on two long legs, two arms, and... well, it was blue already, why not blue fur?

With the light dying down, the spirit collapsed to its knees with its arms heavy at its side. It struggled for a moment to lift its head and open his eyes. "...?" It's eyes watered as he squinted at the girl who stood in front of him. "Who are you?"

And the world turned upside down.
Sudden images flashed before her eyes - of worlds gone by, of another reality where heroes battled daily, where blue fought green, where emeralds shined and the nature of choice was questioned with the same face staring at you. It was too much, and Alicia thought she was going to pass out our grow ill.
But as soon as the sensation had gone, it had left, and Alicia stumbled backwards. Instead of looking like a supreme dominant leader, she was just a frail, frightened woman, down to her last resorts. She put a hand to her throbbing eye, trying to regain control over the situation. "I... I am Queen Alicia. And you are now my familiar."

The blue hedgehog took a step forward and tried to put his arms around Alicia, presumably to help her stabilize herself in spite of the stumble backward. "Do I have a name?"

But there was something ringing in the back of her head, something about speed so fast it created a boom-like thing... A something boom, a...
"... Sonic."

Sonic let his hands fall back to his side. "I thought you might be hurt." He looked down. "This forest isn't safe."
no subject
She tugged on the horse's saddle. "You will help me protect my kingdom, and eventually bring ruin to the one who wronged me."

She hadn't expected her familiar to be so... mouthy. Or have a personality. Truth be told, she knew very little about how this was supposed to go.

Sonic looked at the horse. "I have to stay here. I can't go with you."
no subject
"You're coming with me if I have to tie you down!" Which would help... if... she brought anything to tie him with. Anger can make one irrational. "I am your mistress, now get on the horse!"
no subject
But as the distance between them grew he began to feel a growing pain in his chest. It soon became so unbearable that he fell to his knees. "...?" Sonic looked at his hand to see it start to become more and more translucent. "...What?"
no subject
"Now are you beginning to understand?" She asked coolly. "You belong to me. You can't live without me now. Your bond with me won't be cut until my dying day."
no subject
"I don't remember anything. How could I help keep you safe from this person whose tried hurting you?"
no subject
Still not getting up, was he? Very well.
Alicia walked around until she was behind him, and then began trying to pick him up.
no subject
"If familiars have powers, you could get another one. I don't want to be used as a body guard or tool to overthrow some kingdom."
no subject
"Look, you - ergh - stupid man, I'll feed you, I'll clothe you, I'll strip if that's - agh - what it takes, just get on already!"
no subject
"I wanna remember who I am and where I come from." He said while starting to stand of his own volition. "And once I help you... you need to promise that you'll let me go."
no subject
Once he helped her... What vague terms. It could mean anything. It could be protecting her kingdom. It could mean killing Scourge. It could mean making sure he was no threat until Alicia died.
A wicked smile grew across her face. "... Why didn't you just say so? Of course I can promise that."
no subject
Still..he didn't feel like he wanted to leave the forest. For some reason he felt like there was something there he needed to do..Or something that he needed to protect.
"Fine." He looked back at the thick of trees behind them and at the ruins of old buildings. "Once last question, then we can leave. But why did you come here for a Familiar?"
no subject
"But I had to take that risk... For my kingdom, I will go through any danger in order to keep my people safe."
no subject
This might have been a review for Alicia, but considering his knowledge of the situation at hand he was a little slow on the uptake. "You must know something about me and my abilities if you summoned me out of all the other spirits here." He nodded. "And you could summon a lot more of them if you wanted to make sure your Kingdom was protected."
