The other slaves had been testing the boundaries of what they could get away with to retaliate against Scrooge. A McDuck having such protection was obscene. He was the lowest of the low. Why would Shadow Queen Magica waste her time and powers on him?

It took a bit of doing, of course, but if a scenario had the probability of causing injury to Scrooge by accident, the distelfink wouldn't lash out at the perpetrator. The burn from that morning had come from someone hurrying about the kitchen, forgetting to warn Scrooge that something hot passing behind him. When Scrooge had turned around, there'd been some shuffling from both parties and a splash of boiling hot soup had landed on his arm. The distelfink had ensured the burn wasn't worse but didn't strike back at the person who'd made the mistake.
